Just a fun thread :)
What advice would you give your younger self about customizing?
-
Don't start. It'll be a never-ending Work In Progress, which will take over your craft cabinet and cost far too much money in supplies that don't get used, which will culminate in finally selling the ponies off as bait, when previously they could have been restored. :(

Don't touch that G3. You may not care about her now, but you will REALLY regret it later. :cloud:

Invest in an airbrush sooner, practice more, and the rooting tool is worth every penny.

SAME!!!!
I really wish I'd got an airbrush sooner and the tool would have saved my poor fingers several years of splits/scars/ouchies.
Love pkw xxx

Understand that customizing is more work than it is fun! Rewarding in the end, but lots of time and effort to make something good.

JUST DO IT!
If you are going to buy stuff for customizing, just do it. Do not get emotionally attached to your half a dozen whatevers and never actually custom them. You are only going to get better if you actually do it.
Also buy an airbrush and an ultra sonic cleaner. You will hate constantly replacing paintbrushes and you will hate trying to get them clean and your work will suffer for not using clean tools. The cleaner will clean your airbrush so you don't have to, it will also clean your ponies.

Why did you erase Twinkle Twirl's hoof design, you dumb past self ? >.<
Haha. Hope to find another one. (Actually, I have, but she is over-yellowed, I don't know what happened to her. Oo Even her hair are yellowed. She's more orange than purple)

I would have told myself to buy more lots of ponies on ebay and not spend so much on Backstreet Boys magazines, LOL.

It's way easier than you think! You've built it up into this Huge Scary Thing, and it's not. It's challenging but fun! Don't put it off, just go for it!
It's perfectly okay to start over!
If you don't get something "right", try looking at it as an outsider, someone with no expectations. It may not be what you were aiming for, but it could still be very pretty and very impressive.

Don't cheap out on paints, seriously. Your work will turn out so much better, past shai.
And yes, agreeing with the tool xD for the longest time I did the loop of jewellery wire + knot on the plugs of hair *___* Then I figured out how to make my own tools. The tool is THE BEST THING.
