Title: my little wiki library, very soft open ;P
Post by: absol on July 02, 2017, 02:42:06 PM: Hi all, I'm still not dead, in case anyone was wondering :lookround:

A few weeks back I got pdfs working on MLW and added a Library section.

Breyer600 of course had many books already scanned and kindly got the library started.

She (and others) have asked the questions I had been pointedly trying to ignore, "what about G4 books?" "what about hasbro being a stickler for copyright?"

After digging around I found this site which is a free open library that uses opensource software that anyone is free to use. https://openlibrary.org/

I can't think of any reason why I can't get that same software running on the wiki's server.... so I will spend a few days on that before the end of the summer. If it takes more than a few days of banging my head against the computer it will have to wait... but best case scenario:

-the wiki will have a free, legit library containing all the MLP/moondreamers/carebear/rainbowbrite/etc books from the 80s and 90s (and all the reboot biz we can stand)
-books could be borrowed and downloaded to kindle and all that kind of legit biz
-finally we can let little kids read our vintage books ;)

Yesssssssssss! I am so looking forward to somepony(s) very nice sharing their G1 comics with us all ;) I have only ever read a few pages of G1 comic scans, but the canon and stories look so interesting and so different from what was animated!!!

Forget those dang adult coloring books that take several hours to do one small area of color... I like coloring the kid books much better. :D
