Title: Is it safe to sunfade a glitter symbol?
Post by: 01mlplover on June 29, 2017, 09:11:45 AM
I recently acquired a baby princess sparkle with bright orange highlighter on her symbol and was wondering if sun fading would damage the glitter or not. Or is there anything else I can do to lighten it?

I saw that auction!
Surprisingly BPS has non fading symbols, but the hair does fade. Most glitter ponies don't have fading symbols, although I have seen some color leach out (Sparkler, Glory- blue/ purple coloring, but not BPS)

Thanks for replying! It really doesn't look bad imo. Kinda adds a little pop to her symbol but I like my ponies to be original so I figured I'd ask on here to see if I'd cause more damage than good by sunfading. Think I'll cover her hair and give it a go. What's a good way to protect their hair when sunfading?

You can wrap the hair in foil! This tutorialhttp://mlparena.com/index.php?topic=288994.0 (http://mlparena.com/index.php?topic=288994.0)
has lots of helpful tips on that and sunfading in general.  If the paint technique sounds iffy to you, I think I've seen people use a 1 part flour to 1 part water mixture (like paper mache!) to cover symbols too.
