Title: SNES Mini Classic
Post by: Leave a Whisper on June 26, 2017, 10:42:29 AM
So Nintendo announced the SNES Mini Classic. Less games, costs more and missing too many key classics for me to be genuinely interested. The line up is good , but it should have been great. Oh well, it'll save me the aggravation of failing to get one.

I don't get the hype. I didn't get the hype for the NES Mini, either. But I don't think that NES games hold up well at all anymore. Some SNES games are still good, but if I want them I still have my childhood SNES and all of the games I played, or I have the option to get them on the VC for my Wii U, which is a hundred times more convenient than buying and hooking up yet another system to play them.

To me, this is just a novelty item. It's kind of cute, but it's just not necessary for me.

For people who no longer have an snes due to getting rid if it, or the onslaught of age, for people who want to try the great games of yesteryear, for hardcore  nostalgia fans.

I would be more impressed if it could play the original cartridges as well, which is what my Sega Genesis classic console can do even though it has about 80 games preloaded onto it.

But since I have 2 functional SNES systems and the cartridges for the games I like to play, I'm not going to go out of my way to get my hands on one of these.

And Nintendo is majestically screwing this up the exact same way they screwed up the NES Mini proving that once again, They Learned Nothing!

Never before released Starfox 2
Limited holiday release
No orders in North America
Pre-orders rapidly being sold out in Europe

Nintendo, if you ain't gonna sell your crap to people then don't make it!

I had faith that Nintendo would release another wave of the NES Mini after Christmas, because surely it would be insane to release such a limited number during the holiday period and no more... but they didn't, and then they announced they were doing the same with the SNES Mini and I lost all faith.

Nintendo claims that they're creating these systems as "special recognition of the fans who show tremendous interest in our classic content"... yeah, more like scalpers.

Not buying one, don't even care.

I think it's adorable and will attempt to get one.

I love the Mario / Zelda / Kirby games that will be on it... but most likely will be modding it to play all of my faves including imports.

if I don't get one, I'll probably go back to my idea of buying a SNES SD cart or a buffalo controller *shrug*

Same here. I've kind of had it with them. This is ridiculous.  :pout:

I want one (I wanted the NES one, too) but based on the Nintendo distribution model, I doubt I'll be getting one...

I definitely wish it had more games, but with the games it does have I might consider getting one... (eventually, when they're more readily available?)
