Title: ~~ Prismaline: Lisa Frank Inspired Plush Rehair ~~
Post by: Twizel on June 18, 2017, 04:41:17 PM
This girl started life out as one of the Aurora World 13" Rarity plushes. Unfortunately, when I found her, her hair was a tangled, ruined mess. I've always been curious if I could rehair a plush (with my dubious sewing skills), so here's the result. I designed her as sort of a MLP/Lisa Frank hybrid. Be kind lol and ignore my messy room. I wasn't sure how she'd turn out, so she didn't get a working title like my other customs! Those of you with clever naming skills, any ideas?

To make it more Lisa-Frank-y, I grabbed my fabric markers and gave her colored hooves, pink freckles, and changed the original color of Rarity's diamond symbols. I also changed Rarity's light blue eyes to indigo. It doesn't show up well, but the embroidered eyes and symbols are still shiny, just stained a different hue. I tested the fabric ink first, and I'm happy to report it doesn't change the soft texture of the fur.

Instead of using Dollyhair like I would for my plastic customs, I used hair extensions made for humans, and gave her a rainbow of 10 colors. The sewing of the tail was easier than I expected, but the mane was difficult mainly because it was hard to hold the hair extensions in place while sewing. I don't have a sewing machine, so it was all hand-stitched with white embroidery thread.

There's definitely some flaws in my stitching, but they don't show up too much in these pics. She's the first plush I've ever attempted to do anything like this with. Anyway, just thought I'd share!

She looks so cool! And for your first crack at the bat, you don't do half bad.

She's pretty cool, I can imagine rehairing a plush is tricky so you did a great job. I love the Lisa Frank inspiration, so colourful!

PS. As for a name... I looked up Lisa Frank Characters for inspiration and got stuck on the name of the actual unicorn character, Markie.
She's just so colourful, like an entire set of rainbow markers embodied in one unicorn plush.

This just makes me miss the Lisa Frank stuff I had as a kid.  :P
