Title: people who grew up with g3?

since the collectors who grew up with g3 are becoming mature collectors, i was curious as to how many people on the arena grew up with g3? :wonder: i grew up with g3 myself, my aunts who were nostalgic about their childhoods buying me ponies for birthdays. even so, it would take longer for my passion about ponies to develop.

I did! Sparkleworks was my first pony in I think it was 2004? I had a collection of around 50 G3s by the time I was seven or eight, as well as a few G1s that my grandad got from car boot sales.
Unfortunately I gave all my ponies away when my family and friends convinced me I was too old for them, so aside from a couple I found in my house recently, I don't have any of my childhood collection left.

I started collecting G4 in 2013 and they make up most of my collection, though I have a few charity shop finds that are previous gens.

oh, what a coincidence! Sparkleworks was also my first pony :biggrin: i started collecting g4 right around then as well.

I loved them so much. Ponies were my biggest passion at that time, anything that had ponies or horses; it had to be mine. I'd watch different cartoons with horses and G3 My Little Pony. I had a collection that included 3 G3 ponies and 1 G3 McDonald's one; as for the rest, they were fakies or other brands.
My favorite was G3 Daybreak. I miss her a lot. She's pretty pricey on ebay, but I'll save up hopefully.
I gave them away years and years ago telling myself I was too old for them. I regret it but oh well.
I'm sure I'll have them one day  :happy:

I grew up with g3 too! My first pony was periwinkle, them magic marigold and wind drifter. I also had about 20 fakies. I wasn't crazy into ponies but they never went in the loft or got sold, unlike my care a lot castle and figures :pout: So I must have liked them quite a bit and all are still with me today :) 
I didn't get super into ponies until I was 10 or 11 however, but since then I've been pony mad!

Me too, and I have almost all of them, except for Citrus Sweetheart. She was one of my favourites, but I lost her when I moved in 2009. Can you believe I have only lost one pony in my entire life and she turned out to be hard to find?

i was a g3 kid! :-)

my first pony was sunny daze! i think my favorite pony was star catcher, since she had shiny wings *u*

i got rid of all mine eventually, garage sales and passing them down to younger friends, etc. :'-o

in 2011, i started collecting again with 3.5 sweetie belle  :lovey:

I sort of grew up with G3. I mean sort of because I was actually 12 or 13 when G3 started. So I had done a lot of growing without any ponies in my life. But I bought G3 ponies during the time they were out.

Picture is obviously not mine because my Sparkleworks was given away a long time ago. I can only hope she found a good home. I was quite good at looking after my ponies so there's quite a possibility she's with a collector now.

I did! I was 8 in 2003 and had been previously collecting/playing with G1 ponies, since my aunts had given me their collection. I remember seeing the G3s on the shelves in wal-mart and excitedly exclaiming to my mother, "They're back!!"

My first G3 was Pinkie Pie!

(excited waving) Hi there! My first was actually Strawberry Swirl (why I made her into a secondary ponysona), but I adored Sparkleworks too for some reason lol. She must be magic or something!

I remember begging the heck outta my mom to buy me a beach towel because it specifically had her on it. I still have it thankfully, maybe I should take pictures when I get my butt on my computer.

I did! Sparkleworks must have has some magical power over all of us because she was my first pony too!  :lol: If we want to get really technical though I only got interested in MLP because my younger sister got the Cotton Candy shop and pony for her birthday and I thought it was cute and wanted some ponies for myself. We were both hooked for a while and always spent our report card money on nothing but ponies. She finally outgrew them, but I could never bring myself to let go of them so I bought her collection off of her and added it to my own. I still have all of our childhood ponies to this day!

I collected them as a child, but I no longer have them. I sold them on eBay because I thought I was too old (and now I don't have room for them anyways because they're too big. I only collect G4 and G4.5 now) my first ponies were island rainbow and sapphire shores (I wanted a yellow pony with a gem cutie mark, but they didn't have one. Island Rainbow was orange and that's the closest to yellow the store had and sapphire shores was the only pony with a gem cutie mark left at the store)

I was a G3 kid!  I got Tink-a-Tink-a-Too as my first pony when I was in first or second grade.  Now I'm set to be a senior in college in the Fall!  I am lucky to still have my whole childhood herd, especially considering there was a quite a near miss where nearly all of them were almost lost in a move!  Thankfully the box turned up and I got my girls back. 

Oddly enough, before I got Tink, I was sooo opposed to MLPs because they didn't look like "real horses" but then I saw them in person and I was hooked.  My aunt got me a bunch of the play sets (my favorite being Butterfly Island) so I had quite the pony town going in the corner of my bedroom.  Unfortunately I don't have room to have my play sets displayed anymore in my family's current house, but I do have all my ponies out on display which is lovely!  I still have all my play sets packed away :)

I was 7 in 2003 when g3 started! My parents had taken me to toys r us to pick something out as a gift for getting a good report card andi walked past the ponies and was just in love! There was some wild "buy a playset get a single pony 50% off" deal to promote the new line so my dad insisted on buying me both Razzaroo and Moondancer and then I ended up choosing Sunny Daze and Rainbow Dash as well. I also still remember my mum trying to get me to pick Sparkleworks (I got her the next time around :9)

I still have my whole childhood collection too! An unfortunate incident caused 4 or so to need replacement but we're all back up to speed here. I collected somewhere in the range of 125 full sized ponies between 2003 and... I think my last childhood ponies were found at an anime convention when I was 17?  Lol

Technically G2 was my first gen, I had some of them as a young child.

I was around 10 when G3 came out and started getting really into MLP at that time. My mom and friends thought I was too old for My Little Ponies, and I did too at first- I only got a few because I wanted to compare them to G2. Then I found out how much I loved them!

I was born in '92, so I was 11 the year g3 launched, so I guess I *kind of* grew up in the g3 era, but I didn't have any g3 ponies, and by the time I was 11 my original ponies (g1/g2 mixed ) were already in a box in the attic. I did start collecting at 14 tho, in 2006, and quickly got into g3s. :)

I would've been nine at the time so absolutely.  :) I had a handful of G1s that belonged to my sister and a bunch of fakies and when I first saw the commercials for G3 I thought they looked so weird. XD It wasn't until my sister TwistedRiver brought me home Minty that I fell in love. I watched the Charming Birthday VHS she came with twice and the next day I got... Sparkleworks!  :silly: Not sure why but it seems like a lot of people got Sparkleworks first so it cracks me up that she was also one of my first G3 ponies.
I think Wysteria came third... Sweetberry and Kimono also came early on but I don't know which one I got first. I probably got Sunny Daze around then too.

Kimono was the pony I always wanted but never got for some reason. I think we just never found her in shops. I had Sunny Daze and most of the ponies from A Charming Birthday, which was the only G3 cartoon I ever watched.

I think I've seen every G3 cartoon except for Runaway Rainbow and those weird G3.5 ones? I can remember when I first got Star Catcher and the VHS for Dancing in the Clouds it sucked because we were out of state and the hotel didn't have a VCR.

I was actually a teen when G3 came out but that didn't stop me from buying them when I could :) I remember going to alco and seeing a display of ponies on an end cap and I'm like no way! They brought my little pony back! I asked my grandpa if I could get one and I picked out kimono for my first G3 pony.

I didn't grow up with it, but my first G3s were a four pack and yes, that included Sparkleworks. XD

Since someone mentioned being curious about our stories, here's the game I played:

Lily Lightly was Queen of Ponyland. Brights Brightly (my only other unicorn) was her second-in-command. Breezie, with her scooter, was the sheriff of Ponyville. Lily Lightly went missing and Brights tasked Breezie with finding her.

In Ponyville, Minty and Cotton Candy were a couple and owned the Cotton Candy Cafe. That was always where I would start my games, with a little slice of life play. My G2 ponies were teenagers who liked to come to the Cafe.

I had the Butterfly Island playset too, and Star Catcher was the leader of that island. Hono-loo-loo (sp?) was her baby. Lily Lightly actually ended up in Butterfly Island, but I don't remember how she got there! A lot of the story is blurry to me now.

I grew up g3 era (1999 baby here) and altho I love ponies now I didnt think about them that much as I was more in to barbie and LPS. Me and my sister had  a few things but yeah :P

I did aswell! My first ponies were all for Christmas, I had 6. I saw one of those older G3 commercials, with these strange, almost 3D CGI ponies I think, and I was captivated. They were all I wanted from then on! I'd never seen an MLP before. When everyone asked me what I wanted for Christmas that year, all I said to everyone who asked was ponies. So I got ponies!!
My firsts were Kimono, Snowflake, and the Cotton Candy Cafe which came with Sparkleworks, Cotton Candy, Meadowbrooke and Starswirl. I played with them as much as humanly possible, and the Cafe. 

My aunt, too, was nostalgic about the ponies and contributed to my pony habits frequently. xD Eventually she gave me all her ponies, too!

Unfortunately all my ponies live across the country at the moment.
I really really miss them. :c I'll see them this Christmas though, lol! (I'm thinking I might try to stuff my favourites in my suitcase to take back, but that's a slippery slope because I really love them all, I think I have nearly 200 ponies last time I counted, they fill a Rubbermaid box, so that's hard. :'c I hope they're doing well in their little box...)

Unfortunately I don't have the Cafe anymore, or any of my ponies' accessories (I do have all their clothes still though!) because they just took up so much room and I only cared for the ponies anyway, once I stopped playing with them as much and just turned to collecting them. I do kick myself sometimes though at the money I could've made, I had BUCKETS of G1-G3 accessories and tons of houses. My mom sold all the stuff at garage sales and such. I hope they went to good homes.

However, my collection remains entirely intact, and I've never lost a single pony! My aunt did before she gave her collection to me though, so I missed out on some rad little baby seaponies. :c I hope they ended up somewhere nice, too.

I was born in 1984 so I technically grew up with G1's but I was still young and didn't really remember much of the episodes since I was still young at the time.  I didn't start getting into G1's until the started doing reruns around early 90's.  I was there when G3's were out but not right away as I didn't know they were out.  I was in my early 20's and I randomly heard a commercial for the Cotton Candy Cafe but before that I heard "My Little Pony, My Little Pony" and I probably almost gave myself whiplash turning around to look at the TV.  I got well onto G3's after that and it was like reliving G1's with all the colors and variety.

1998 kid here! :thumb: I think I am the first one here who got Sparkleworks only now :biggrin: I got into them fairly late, my first ever G3 was styling size Rainbow Dash. They were expensive and my parents always insisted buying the cheaper fakies which is why, before I returned to ponies, I had a ton of fakies and only two of the real deal...

I followed ponies until G4, then I lost interest. They were just not the same cute and cuddly ponies I grew up with. But then about 4 years ago I found my old arena account and started collecting ponies that I couldn't have in my childhood :)

Btw I still have these two ponies, RD is heavily played with, has messy hair and sticker stains(she came with stickers that I put all over her body and took off later lol). Second one is Ponyville Scootaloo who is perfectly fine. They both share a self with my other ponies :)

I wasn't the biggest fan of ponies when I was little, but I did grow up with a few G3s. I had Rainbow Flash, Petal Blossom, Baby Flower Flash, Baby Romperooni, and Scooter Sprite. I only remember getting Scooter Sprite and I loved playing with her scooter. I believe she was a present from my babysitter for my fifth birthday

I just want to pop in and say that I didn't exactly grow up with G3, but my first ponies were one of the Core 7 when they were out in stores ( my dad got it for me, I was probably 6 or 7), and I quickly fell in love with ponies and bought a lot of the earlier ones. Then G3.5 happened, and I didn't like the looks of them, so I was ponyless for a little while. The pony craze started again later when G4'S came out and I saw Twilight Sparkle.

1993 baby here! I vaguely remember seeing the commercials and clips of the cartoon on TV, but I don't *think* I had any ponies myself. Probably thought that they were 'ew' and didn't bother with them (which I'm kicking myself for now).

Childhood me wasn't much of a doll and plastic toy kind of gal. Was way more interested in stuffed animals and those plastic play tents that probably got me high off of their toxic fumes. I can still remember the smell like it was yesterday...
