This set has slowly grown on me over time. I do like her.

Personally, I wish yellow wasn't her dominant hair color, and that her boats looked a little less like weird folded-up paper, but I can't deny there's something to her. She looks like a sunny, clear day -- perfect for sailing!

Now I can't get that association out of my mind. I do like her and she would fit right in with all the other sea type ponies.

That can also only work if you grew up in a country where both existed, because my sister had Mainsail when we were kids, but we never saw Night Glider until a random carboot sale find in the middle/late 1990s (ironically that fact means that Mainsail cost more than Night Glider, as she was new and NG was £1 second hand).

I digress.

My sister loved Mainsail. Actually, she still does, because she's one of the few ponies of hers not in storage.

This is the only Mainsail in our combined collection; I have never had one and Naynie doesn't really believe in upgrading her childhood ponies. You can sort of tell this girl was the prized possession of a three or four year old when she first came to live with us xD. But she had a lot of fun play hours, so all the wear and tear was well earned in Toy Story style...

@SkyCakes - in the UK pony comic she had her own boat and went sailing in it a lot on adventures, maybe that's where that was from?

I basically find that all of the ponies with a nautical or beach theme really seem to be my favorites due to endless summers on the water.

I have her! She was one of my first G1s :) I really like her, there's just something about her.. I definitely wouldn't call her "the poor man's Nightglider" (never seen that before, anyway); I don't have Nightglider myself (one day..), but from what I've seen they're totally different, not even the same shade of blue.

Here's mine :) In my herd she's part of my pirate pony crew, and first mate Salty's wife :) And mother to Clipper, although I don't seem to have a photo of them together..

I can picture an ocean back drop with sea ponies playing in the background with newborn twins sandcastle and shovels playing in the sand or something. :D

I don't see why she's associated with Night Glider but they do both seem to be liked by some of the same people....pose n color maybe? I am looking for Night Glider and would like Mainsail so they do seem to be connected to the same nerve in the brain or something.

Oh yes and she does look great with Salty, if I get her I'm going to need that sailor boy too.

That actually brings up a really good point. I don't think I've ever seen the two next to each other; I wonder if anyone has direct comparison pics. I'd be curious to see how the colors actually match up in reality.

re: poor man's NightGlider - you know, I was looking for a really-baity Mainsail to re-customize into a NightGlider - but just could not bring myself to do it as both of my Mainsails are far too pretty!

Similar colour, same pose - almost attempted to dye a Posey to achieve it, but, nah.
