HI EVERY PONY!!!
I really wanted to ask this question for a long time, even though it may have been done before, I want to liven it up a bit then...
So the question is: Do or Did you play with your Ponies?
If your answer was Yes: would you mind sharing a story-line or describing how you played with your ponies? (People play in different ways) Of course you don't have too.. this is just a poll after all... story-lines are just a bonus.. :D
I have been wanting to make a poll like this for a very long time... I Just finally am brave enough to do it. :lol:
I will start first of course:
At 10 yrs old N taught me to role play there voices and give each pony a different voice with attitude. It was very different then I have ever played before, When I played dollhouse by myself. :blink: It became nature after a while... later on we decided to up our story-lines
So there was 2 kingdoms... each kingdom had a dance team that they Tried to keep a secret from there own queen. there was a dance club where these 2 teams "The Tanzanites vs The Tease" would meat up and have a dance contest to see who is the best team in the land... I can remember the ponies we used and the names we called them during the story-line. Both of our favorite ponies was Baybee... LOL NO not the cry baby... Snickers It is "Hey Baybee" LOL!! I played her voice and Literally Every time I hear Bernadette's voice From the Big Bang Theory I I think of Baybee... man if only I can duplicate it again just for fun if I where to ever play again... By myself.. :biggrin:

We had N'SYNC and Backstreet Boys, and of course there has to be a bad guy who kidnaps women and the Guys have to save the Danzzel in Distress.
Some drama twists:the Queen finds out it was her royal ladies sneaking out at night."
Weelll I told you we up-ed the Story-line... :satisfied:

HECK YES I STILL DO!!
I started when I was a small child, as I have always loved to imagine adventures with ponies and other dolls. As I grew older, that never changed. Now my sister loves playing with my collection, and I'll play with her too. She usually chooses my G3 royal twist to use as her own character, who happens to be an all powerful alicorn princess. she lets me play everyone else and give them personalities. mayweather has a sort of fluttery like personality, but has a cranky, Granny Smith sort of voice. Majesty has a bit of a short temper, but is genearally meaning well. Milky Way is always the know it all, and has her own space ship made from a tissue box to explore the stars with. My miniature glory is the fastest unicorn alive, zipping along a trail of stars. Firefly is a klutz, often crashing into storms in an attempt to prove pegasi are invincible! Sundance and her baby are the pharmacists, supplying potions and magical remedies. And I have to remember all this and more, as well as switching between characters. It's like multiple personality disorder, but with horses!

I used to play with them. I started when I was little with the G2 toys, but got really into it with G3 when I was about ten. I never saw the shows so I came up with my own characterization and stories for them. I had a pretty cool world and story built up for them! I wish I had written it all down.
I get the urge to play with them, but have no imagination anymore. I end up just brushing them and handling them.
However, I do love to take pictures of them, and sometimes I think of "headcanons".

I have Ideas now and you know what the kicker is??? they are in storage at this second cause we are selling the house.... -_- but I really wanted to see if there are people in the same boat as me... so i made a poll

i'm going to edit my top post adding the names of the pony and how they acted like you did. That was a really great idea of yours, it really made it come to life.

I didn't have ponies when I was little. My girlfriend and fellow collector ( :) ) did, she tells me that her ponies had all sorts of adventures, from fighting bad guys to just going on a daytrip to the seaside or starting at school, which she then wrote down as stories. She still has the stories, they are adorable. I remember seeing one where the ponies went to the seaside and Heart Throb got washed out to sea; one of the boy ponies had to leap in and rescue her.
These days, we mostly 'play' with our ponies by making up little stories about what they get up to when we aren't around. Our theory is that the pony cupboard actually contains a portal to PonyLand, and, far from just sitting around on shelves, our ponies are off leading their own lives. We have a lot fun thinking what jobs they might do, and who they are dating or related to. Also we sometimes draw them or take photos.

Sometimes (: my younger brother will usually play with me and we won't do any special voices or anything but we make my ponies have adventures.
Princess Celestia is the leader, but Twilight is the leader of ponyville.
Here is one of my ponies backstory:
Cherry Berry is a inventor who loves spending time in the garage, building things. She is also a Pony of Justice (Ponyville's own branch of superheroes) named Chell.

Milky Way? Yeah, her name was Pluto. Growing up, Pluto was my favourite planet, and I wanted to build a house there and have a little garden to grow super small carrots. Royal twist became Claire, my sisters favourite name. The bridal pony just became known as white or Blanca, after the animal crossing character. Since there was a G4 and G3 rainbow dash, I just call the G3 rainbow dash rainbow cloud. I mean, my grandma said we should call her blue horse but I didn't like that.

I was a teen (or almost a teen) when I got my first pony. By that age I had outgrown playing with toys. I wouldn't mind playing with my toys, but the desire just never strikes me.

My favorite "play" was when I got a new pony and came up with a story about how they came to my Ponyland. Everywhere else in the world must have been really terrible, because there were always herds of forlorn and lost ponies, so relieved to find a home in Ponyland! Sometimes I would get doubles, like when Baby Gusty's double came to Ponyland- it threw everyone in town for a loop, since Gusty 1 was sort of mean, but this one wasn't! I still have them both- how do you sell a memory like that?
I've actually thought about this question a lot lately- I don't make up stories or move the ponies around anymore, but my three-year-old has been allowed to play with some of the collection, and he has a different adventure every time. It's really nice to see, that someone is still adventuring with the ponies.
In case you were wondering, his stories are a little different than mine. More crashing. Less talking. And frankly, a lot of whining. :lovey:

I absolutely used to! I made houses out of boxes and accessories for my boy ponies. So Tug (Salty) had his own boat, (which I still have somewhere) and Tracks (Steamer) had a train with an engine and two ice cream tub carriages! Unfortunately I don't have that one anymore but it was really cool and he used to take the baby and flutter ponies for rides around my room :)
We used to have sports days with races and for some reason my favourite ponies usually won but they were gracious in defeat if they lost (to another favourite, obviously.)
Every Christmas I got one of the ponies to "help" me put up decorations and one year I wrote all my ponies a tiny little card.

So I had to think about that, we took hours putting his models into storage.... how could I really forget about that???? He is a “geek” himself: video game Gears of War collection, Funko batman/ car type things like the time machine. He just got the Matrix Neel Funko figure from my sister and he totally freaked over it.

All, this is great stuff. Based on Faust's doing the same and writing G4, any of you could perhaps create G5.
I was never into ponies as a kid, my idea of toys were saws and hammers and really bad quality computers we had back then, but now my idea of playing with ponies is stuffing the bed with them or taking them around taking pictures of them seeming to shop, look at scenery, or pose (I have several threads around with such things). Apparently I have the bug to do more with them because I just wrote a pony story, first arc is complete and about 20,000 words ("a pony story" in FiM subforum, check it ooouuuut) and the next arc is clanging around my brain especially while commuting.
I can't mark anything on the poll cuz there's no spot for No but I want to...

I have every intention of displaying mine, maybe making up stories about them but I haven't actually played with any in a long time.

I had a childhood herd of G1 and of course I played with them - FAVOURITE TOYS LOL Nightglider was always the queen, Bow Tie the O wise one and Shady was always a boy. Luke Skywalker was the bad guy who always tried to round them up mustang style.
But the play subsided when I was around 10ish I think. That's when they got boxed up :cry:
Although I collect G1 avidly, nowadays it's purely the enjoyment and nostalgia of it. I don't play with my ponies anymore but my two girls will any chance they get (aka allowed!!)

I don't want to be a person who hides away from there true form from others anymore. I actually became a whole new person today. :blink: I don't care who in my life finds out that i play with ponies. I really got to thinking about this. if someone don't like that simple fact that I make up stories with ponies then they don't need me cause they want to change who I am. It is a win win situation. I will move onto someone new, I'm not going to hide anymore. I do have responsibilities as well. To come home and play instead of a watching a movie would be soo much rewarding.
So to keep this on topic, I have a story-line i'm already writing down... poor ponies are in storage still sniffle.. lol well it gives me a chance to put down who is what pony and what there character is like.
I'm not doing a typical story with made up names this time, it is an alternative life time.
Example:
Me/Kelly but i'm calling myself Kirri (because it would be a little weird for me if I said Kelly) = Goldilocks
Brother Dan = Slugger
Mom = Majesty
Tammy = Gingerbread
Uncle Rob = Daddy Bright Bouquet... Fits perfectly cause he is a pastor
Aunt Monica - mommy bright bouquet
Cousin Gina = Glitter sister Bright Night
Cody = Speedy <----- The crush of my life and I went to prom with him. And he is the reason for this new me today. PS Speedy was a Prom Gift to me :biggrin:
Aunt Jean= So Soft buttons
Sakura = Ruby Lips evil
Angela = Flower Dream SHS pony Best friend of Sakura who is also bad

I had one or two G3s when I was a kid. I did terrible things to them. I used to doodle all over them, cut their hair as short as I could. I thought tatooes and short hair made them cooler.

I didn't cut the ponies hair, But i had a Princess royal blue with a bob cut and tail and a sweet heart sister that had the same kind of hair cut but a little shorter and I used to gel it up with perfume and they both just rocked it out!!!! :frolic

Ponies are an on going play for me. If I am home alone I grab some of my ponies and play like I am 5. I tend to move my collection around because of all the drama. So and so fell in love. Someone cheated and loves another. This family adopted a baby. This pony is a single mom and is ostracized for it. But secretly a pony has befriended them.....haha I sound so insane.
The conversations that go in my head when I do pony spa day. Haha. I have some very demanding ponies. Oh and don't get me started on the heavenly dirty ponies. The tears cut me eveytime...
OK I just reread this and I totally sound insane.

I never grew out of playing with my ponies so yes, I still play with them :). It always makes me happy to learn I'm not the only one who plays with my ponies.
My storyline is the one I established way back in 1988. My ponies are the same characters. They live in families, drive in cars, have pets etc. a lot like in the human world. Most of them have their official Hasbro names, but I give them last names and some also have middle names so each pony has their own unique combination of names. Tex is a HUGE rock star called Texon Ponies and actually a lot of my ponies are rock stars. Sky Rocket, the Sparkle Pony, is another big rock star and of course there's Melody and the Rockin' Beats. Confetti is the lead singer in a band called Zenith. There has often been music competitions and my ponies would always win. Tracks, Puff and Royalette are racecar drivers and have participated in the Le Mans race several times. However Tracks is also the keyboard player in Texon Ponies' band called Oxygen. Princess Trixiebelle is a stand-up comedian called TrixieB. Way back in the day when I didn't have a lot of ponies I set up houses for each of the families in my room. I had a friend I often played ponies with and for a while mine and her ponies were penpals. Nowadays, I don't get as much time to actually play with them as I want to but then I play with them in my head.
If you follow my Lightning in the Mr. Universe contest all his photos are canon to his character and storyline :)

That's awesome! :D I wish I had more space to make homes for my ponies too! Most of my ponies live in flat-sharing communities nowadays becuase it's impossible to make homes for hundreds of ponies. If only one had a mansion and dust didn't exist! lol

i dont sit down and "play" with them in the technical sense, but i absolutely LOVE taking them off the shelf and brushing their hair.. or rearranging them.. or giving them stories and personalities... i don't sit on the floor and act out a story with them though

Two halves of the same problem. I have my favorites stuffed into the tiny shelf space I have for them and they get dusty real fast.
I'm planning to build some enclosed glass shelves with positive-pressure filtered air to keep them dust-free or at least closer to it...

I am sooo happy that you still play. I love your plot lines!!!! I know I sound like a broken record, but I really can not emphasis this enough, I really miss playing with my ponies. I think it would be a stress relief just like video game + it is a Game only you can control the plot. To be honest I never really called it a Story-Line. I said it that way so we can all be on the same page. example, I didn't say, "Lets continue our story line today" or "Lets Play MLPs" It was always "Lets Continue our Game." Coloring is now excepted in the "Adult World" but they should of always been excepted by adults. :| Hopefully Playing with Toys will be too.
orangepeachmango: I love it!!!! there are a lot of people who do the same thing. so you are definitely not alone. although I played with them before I felt weird playing with them by myself with ears around me, so I just called that a "pony Clean day" that took the pressure off from me. so they each got cleaned and i would imagine what they would do if i could play. so you do not have to sit on the floor.

I never called it a story line either. It's just my ponyland and how things are in there :). It's definately a stress reliever to play with toys!! I have my share of challenges in this world and my toys really help me cope with life! I would go insane without them!

I played as a kid. I'd still like to play, but I just collect. As a kid you are imaginative, but that seems to fade as an adult. Me and my favorite little cousin would play together as kids. I always played the boy pony (G1 Chief or Quarterback) and she played as G2 Morning Glory and I was the boy pony who fell in love with her. I got tired or playing the boy.
I imagine with my sense of humor these days, my pony stories would be a lot more.....messed up. XD

you don't sound crazy.....i have had a story line going since the 80s...LOL...its gotten more adult problems as I have aged so have my ponies ;)

I played with ponies when I was little. However I really don't play with them unless maybe when my daughter plays with hers. Most of the time they would just hang out in their bins. Until I can get a better place to put them in.
