Title: A question of size?
Post by: CustomsRfun on January 23, 2017, 07:34:01 AM
Hey everypony.

I've been hired to make a G4 custom of Killer Croc.
For the Batman pony in this set, i used the Shining Armor that was sold in the castle.

I want the Killer Croc to match, size-wise, with the Batman.
To give you an idea, Batman is about 1m85/90, where Killer Croc is supposed to be 2m25 high...

Who would you suggest as a bait, that will respect these proportions?

I was thinking the G4Zillas, but they'd be too big, even the Fashion sizes would be too big?

HALP!!

I don't suppose the Guardians of Harmony Shining Armor would work?  They're a bit bigger than normal brushables.

I think the cheapest approach is going to be G4 Fashion Style.  I bet you could pick up a G4 FS Pinkie Pie for cheap.

edit, or use the same as you did for batman but add on sculpted leg extenders?

There isn't a size "between" a "normal" brushable and a Fahion size?

I know there's a special sized Pinkie Pie that came with a hairbrush (for girls) that was mid-size.  But she was very hard to find, only showed up at ROSS.

OH! almost forgot there's these new FIM brushables that have a motion gimmick! they're brushable and mid size!   Maybe a motion gimmick would be fun for a bad guy pony?   I'll find a link somewhere..

they are 6 inches or 16cm tall.  posable legs though.

Is the shining armor from the rebooted line any bigger than the old shining armor? Not the guardians of harmony one, but the current line.

The new brushables are about the same height as the old ones and Guardians of Harmony toys don't seem to be very much bigger than brushables (Though I'm comparing the Pinkie Pie ones right now), either way Shining Armour isn't that much more expensive in store

The SA from GoH is shorter than standard SA from the older lines.

If you don't mind a female mold I say look into a Celestia mold, you might also see if you can get a cheap Funko of one of the boys.. I don't know if they are about the same size as a FS pony

I was thinking of the one with the molded hair and moveable legs.  Aren't those ones a little bigger than the brushables?  I haven't bought any yet so I'm can't compare but they look bigger in the boxes.

I wonder if you could sculpt to masculine-ize a Celestia bait? Maybe you could use a G3 but sculpt it to give G4 features. Sounds like a tough one!

Except we don't have them in stores here in Belgium, i'll have to order them from a foreign country.

The ones you have described are the GoH figures and like I said Shining Armor is actually shorter in that line.

What about taking a normal G4 pony and just making it bigger? I've seen someone do so but I don't know how much bigger you need it really. Still one of the Celestia molds might be your best bet or a FS pony (which is a bit taller than a big brother pony but still taller than G4 Troll Hair Shining Armor)

To respect the scale 1m80cm - 2m25cm.
For the 1m80cm character, i used the "troll hair" (castle) version of Shining Armor.

I think there is a Celestia size that might be what you are looking for, taller than the brushables by a good little bit but not nearly so much a bit as FS, nor as chunky either so you can just Apoxie it up to your needed dimensions.

There are Alicorn bootlegs in approximately her mold that might be good.

You can just cut off any horn or wings you don't need...those come in handy for making Princess Big Mac, haha.
