Pony question of the day:
What's the best MLP toy concepts of all time?
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
My personal opinion would be that the classic Pony itself is rather genius. Its simple enough that kids of any age can play with it, but it doesn't have any kind of technology so you can use your imagination and play with it however you like.
I also liked the G4 concept, but they kinda threw that one down the drain when they started to only release the mane 6 ponies, they were also kind of small.
What is the best MLP toy concept in your opinion and why?

Twinkle Eyes. They're so beautiful!
-
Twinkle Eyes are perfection.
Rainbow ponies-Simple but lovely
So-softs-They feel so very nice.
Dazzle Brights -Super vibrant
Water Cuties-Gimmicky but very pretty and unique among the MLP line. There's nothing quite like em.
Sunshine/Sundazzle-I love color changing hair!
Holiday Ponies-Awesome-sauce!
-
I really liked the pony wear myself, so fun to dress them up.
-
Twinkle Eyes, So-softs Water Cuties,G3 Christmas ponies, Valentines ponies, jewel birthday ponies, g4 alicorn concept, guardian of harmony Halloween blindbag ponies and sets oh gosh I could go on
-
TEs, SSs, BnGs and Secret Surprise ponies :)
Also liked the playsets..nursery being my favorite :D
-
Unicorns!!!
Other faves:
Sparkle ponies
Sea ponies
Rainbow ponies
Sweet heart sisters
-
Princesses (the first two sets)
Big Brothers
Sparkle Ponies
Rockin' Beats
Glow 'n Show
Glittery SHS
Ballerinas / Baby Ballerinas
...Better stop, my list is getting long.
-
Twinkle Eyes
So Softs
Sparkle Ponies
Babies that match the adults
Families
Holiday themed ponies (need some for G4 please)
playsets
I could go on but I think these are my top picks
-
Unicorns!!!
^^ This!!!
I have a soft spot for white G1 unicorns, hence having Gusty, Majesty etc in my herd :thumb:
Yes, I believe the original G1 concept was perfection - small enough to take with you to play, large enough to handle and brush, put clothes on, the pretty features... but then I am biased hehe #growingUpInThe80s
-
I agree with G1 ponies in general! Also school themed ponies. Even though I hated school, I loved school themed ponies very much because of course school is a big part of your world as a child.
-
Glow n Shows
Sparkle Ponies
-
I agree that the G1 ponies is the best concept overall. Though, the So Softs and Twinkle Eyes really have a soft spot for me. I also like the U.K. version of the first Princess pony set with the baby dragon attendants.
-
G3 dazzle brights - the entire Butterfly Island line, tbh. So bright and vibrant and pretty!
Deluxe wings of any gen - flutters, wingers, charm wings, glimmer wings, G3 and 4 deluxe wings, anything else I might have missed. Even if the wings are prone to breakage, they're so pretty.
Rainbows of any gen - rainbow ponies, Rainbow Power, etc.
G1 spinning tails - there's something oddly satisfying about a toy horse with a tail that spins.
Extra symbols/designs of any gen - taf, cmm, friendship blossoms, cutie cascade, pretty patterns, rainbow curl, etc. Never enough cutie pox!
G3 gradients - so pretty! We need more!
Holiday/seasonal - <3
G1 princesses - the 1st and 2nd set. Even though only the 1st set received gem names, and only in their UK releases, they still remind me of gem ponies. That combined with the tinsel, symbols and status as princesses just really works for me for some reason.
G2 and 3 in general - the middle gens need more love!
-
For me it's definitely the merry-go-round ponies, I love their flamboyant designs and the 3D symbols make them feel like something a bit special and fancy. I also really like the G3 Butterfly Island ponies - the vibrant matte colours look gorgeous! (Also the abundance of tropical ponies is a major plus for me!)

I second this.
-
Twice as Fancies and boy ponies. :)
-
For me it's G2s, just in general. They're high quality and horselike like G1s, but slimmer and dare I say cuter  But the concept of G3 is also pretty great, it's G1 but cuter. Not that G1s aren't totally adorable... Actually, the best MLP toy concept might be MLP in general :P
-
The original G1 concept was utter genius. Not bad for a toy that wasn't supposed to be released!
Twinkle Eyes of course, so beautiful :lovey: And G3 balloons - I've just hung mine from the ceiling and they look great.
-
Holiday Ponies any generation.

Holiday Ponies any generation.
They're definitely my absolute favorite aspect of G3 :) So many awesome holiday ponies!
-
The G2 twin babies are some of my favourites  I also do love the regular sized G4 ponies (but I agree that there needs to be more characters).
-
G1's and G2's in general. <3
-
Pretty much that has been stated here:
Big brothers
Princesses
Merry go round ponies
The classic baby ponies
The newborn twins
the original classic ponies or first years.
The twinkle eyes
The so softs
I would say all but some don't agree with me on that point.
-
Princesses and newborns, especially twins.
-
I have to agree on the early year ponies and classic baby ponies. Also Sparkle ponies, the first set of Princess Ponies with their Bushwoolies/dragons and Glow n Show ponies.

There have been many great concepts throughout the years but I need to give a special mention to Guardians of Harmony. I'm surprised it took Hasbro this long to realize how most girls actually played with their ponies.

Yeah, I know a little girl (she's in the fourth grade) who loved playing with her ponies, but she didn't like to constantly brush their hair. I think that hasbro FINALLY thought of a more action figure base for the kids who think that the hair just gets in the way. Plus us collectors got the big NMM and celestia statues ;)
