You can hate me if you want. I understand how some feel you should never take a toy from a child. I work in a day care. If you have ever seen Toy Story 3....they are not far off on how many kids play with their toys. There are ponies here and there. Mostly G3 ponies. Today I was in a room that got a new donations of toys. A G1! I payed a $5.00 donation that was refused as the director said it's one toy and my offer was proof enough that I am not about to steel toys...my second find will need a donation:p

She honestly doesn't look that bad. I would open her up and make sure that there's no rust or mold, and then just wash the body and hair.
Does she have any age spots or pen marks?

Not that I am aware of on marks. I see what looks like colors lips but who knows what will happen after cleaning

She is one of the ponies that has "lipstick" when warm or cold I forget.

I would have done the same thing lol. Probably would have gone out and bought a new toy for them to play with and just kept that one. I have no shame when it comes to ponies! lol

She's one of the sweet kisses ponies. You put cold water or maybe hot, on her lips and she suddenly gets lipstick.
Edit: Her name is Ruby Lips.

Aww, I'm pleased you rescued her. And yes, I have seen Toy Story and I know what kids do with toys, lol! :D

She was on the floor....I did feel the save me feeling. I am so glad it was mentioned about the lips. I might of scrubbed them off:(

When you started the post with you can hate me.....I was expecting to read that you physically took the pony from a child. lol. I once donated some books to my son's daycare so I could rescue a G1. Congrats on your new gal! I think she will clean up well! :)

Congrats on your new pony. :) I don't think you did anything wrong. You saved G1 pony and are giving her a home where she will be appreciated and taken care of.

Thanks for the support. These kids are great. Just a large group gets wild...and it's a g1. I just hoped none of the kids will miss her and ask me:)

I'd have done the same thing so no worries. She looks like a scrubbing and shampoo and conditioner will make her look better.

You did the right thing! Especially as old toys don't seem to be harmless. I once read that the plastic might be dangerous if little children chew on it?! Don't know if that's true but maybe you saved the pony AND the children ;) I also see G1 mainly as collectibles ;) Congrats on your new pony!

Can't wait to see her all cleaned up. :D She is going to be so happy in her new home. I would have done the same thing.
On a weird related note, I remember I used to babysit a child that had so many G3 ponies and one G1, she neglected the poor pony calling it ugly and weird in comparison. So I'm sure the SHS will be much appreciated in her new home.

I would have done that. I use to be a preschool teacher and they had all sorts of vintage toys. Schools are cool about stuff like that. Great find super cool. Can't wait to see how she glows when you are done with her.

Took a bit of work, but she is finished. She still has a bit of color changing lips. Hair finally became smooth. I had intentions of trading...but I don't know. I have never had one. They were not on my radar for my collection...and I have no interest of collecting other...I don't think...hmmm choices.

She looks great. I'm glad you rescued her. If you feel bad you can give the kids a G4, which they are more likely to recognize anyway

No, there should only be tinsel in her mane. She looks awesome now btw! Congrats!

Oh thank you. I have been looking her up, no clear sign of the tail tinsel:) I was not into this group of ponies, but this one I think will stay in my herd:)
