Title: Pony New Years Resolutions
Post by: gabumon on December 20, 2016, 10:44:19 AM
My resolution is:  No more storing MIB/MOC Ponies in boxes!  I've pledged to keep MIB/MOC ponies out on the shelf to be seen and enjoyed!

Mine is to get my accessories cataloged and cross a few more off my list. Also really want to finish my petite collection, needing one playset yet and have 2 Bright Sight ones and 5 twinkles to track down, and maybe find my last softie pony which is baby lickety split.

Trying to buy ponies without breaking my bank. Eh that will never happen anyway. Just to concentrate on the Euro ponies and ones I dont have. I think I maybe going through a period of not picking up any G3-G4 ponies but I love those pearly ones ect so that will never happen. So my resolutions will be like last years make them and break them.

I want to save up for another piggy but there is always something that comes up, be it my car breaking or an amazing sale  at TrU or something on eBay. Here's the year where I start a proper herd! I hope...

I want to keep working on improving my displays. I can't do much until we move but I'd like to get risers built in the summer if possible.

- Do more pony spa days for the ponies I have in storage

- Buy more G1s

- When we move, work on getting my dream pony room a reality  :cheer:

I have way too many.

I have a backlog of ponies to clean up and restore
I need to get my proper displays up
I'd also like to finish my collection database for my ponies/accessories
Get my accessories all in order
And if it counts I need a bed frame so I can get some under bed storage I'm running out of room lol
Put up a few more shelves for my G1s
Do all the display ponies hair - still have no clue how I'm making all these planned styles work

Among many other non-pony related but other collection things as well... so way more than I have time for.

I'd say I'd like to stop buying ponies to help my budget, but come on... like that will ever happen (especially since I already have a pony buy that will go into next year lined up heh)

I dug my ponies out of the closet the other day. I want to get them cleaned up and displayed. I have a couple of sets I want to complete.

This year I want to get my basement developed so I can finally have my pony room!!! So excited. Then it's unpacking everyone and lots of spa days to get everyone display ready. My collection has pretty much always been in storage with only new additions being displayed for a while in my office until I'm out of space and then they join the packed up ponies. I've never had them all out on display at once so that is my ultimate goal this year.

I also have lots of grubby ponies needing deep cleaning and restoration.

My pony resolutions:

1) Go to MLP Fair 2017

2) get some major G1 wants (any from the pilot episode, and any So Soft)

3) get some more Funko ponies (and maybe finish my wave 3 collection)

4) SELL SOME CUSTOM PONIES!

--------------------------

Hopefully at least one of these will be completed, but if I go to MLP Fair, maybe I'll finally get Twilight  :P

Hadn't thought about it that way, and I don't do the new years resolutions but here's what I need to accomplish in the next pony year:

-continue drawing.  Need to get practiced enough with anatomy to be able to draw new poses not just still-life from models.  I have a growing number of things I want to get onto paper including some couple-frame humor stuff.  Draw well on paper first, then learn software and move on to animation...got some action scenes to do!

-perfect painting on ponies....acrylics just aren't long lasting or durable and I want to figure out what is, I'm trying Testors model paint next to see how it does.  Airbrushed of course, which I know how to do for straightforward coloring purposes but haven't for decades...maybe practice and get a little fancy too.

-restore some symbols using glitterpodge, starting with making a stencil for the moon that is missing on my Moondancer with the goal of perfecting stencil making and use so I can add symbols to some blank baits I have or make some customs

-get everything I need to get some rehairing done, using glue-free methods.  Perfect the process so it's quicker and easier by making custom tools and streamlining the procedures, and get a lot of pony hair replaced that's either cut or frizzed.

-Make some customs copying some of the really outstanding nirvana alternatives:  I just saw Brazilian Shady with yellow hair instead of chartreuse and Brazilian Bowtie with red hair and they are AMAZING!!  I want to make them as customs...just the ones with the same body color and make the hair and symbols match.  Once the stencils for symbols and paints and rehairing are all worked out I'll be able to produce pretty darned good copies...and they're all mine, mine I tells ya, but I'll upload a lot of brag pics.

-continue study on age spots/cancer  and practice more on existing restoration methods

-figure out the best products for fixing pony hair!  I have several good suggestions to try out but haven't done them yet, tsk tsk.

-complete some pony gifts I've promised people for a long time now and one that's a big surprise, including some eye gem replacements and restored symbols etc.

I'm not much for resolutions but I will try to organize my ponies! Preferably by taking individual photos! I already started with my G1s but it's not complete. Need a proper list of what I have! Maybe even make a webpage.
I also want to start drawing more ponies again! :D

I have purposely never done this but will this year I guess since I actually have a list in my head:

-Do a planned display in the new glass cabinet that I bought after pony fair last year as I have just been filling it with random acquisitions.

-Focus on the last few ponies that I want for my US G1 collection before moving back on to internationals and other generations.

-Get the last bushwoolie I need (purple)

-Take pictures of my collection and insure it (at least my G1 collection)

-Try to groom ponies that need spa treatment.

-Sell my extras

I know everything won't happen but here's to trying. Definitely, need to get my MLP and MH collections insured.

My resolution is to keep my current collection at the same numbers, or reduce it. (So one in, one out rule). I also need find an elegant display for them.

Oh, Oh, OH! AND finally sell that box of ponies that is sitting in the garage.  I REALLY need to do that.

o_o; That sounds simple enough, right?

Definitely sorting out the hair on my ponies; ranging from sorting out hardcore frizz to giving the better condition ones a little refresher. I should really do some more pony photography as well - it's great fun but I never seem to get round to it nowadays. :P

Seeing how I did not accomplish anything from last year's list, that would be a good star

hiatus...not going to happen, but am going to cut way, way, back on spending.  I have a lot of mlp stuff that I hope I can do trades with other members

In order to do that though, I better get my stuff organized

Third, stuff I do plan to keep, I want to get it on display.  If I can't display it, it needs to move on to a new home.

...buy more ponies... >_>;

In all seriousness, clean up the ponies I have that need cleaning up and make a way better display area for my ponies. Right now I can't see my poor baby ponies...

I've got some customs and de-flocks to finish.

I also want to try a FBR on a pony with age spots, I've prepped my Quaterback and I'm going to keep his hair which is fine, painting around the roots.  I'm going to give him an alternative symbol.I'll report when I do it, what I used and then how long it lasts!

I'd love to have some of the friends in my sig to restore and love.
