So as the title suggests, I have to get a Secret Santa gift for someone at my new job. I have been here one week. I signed up so that I wouldn't be a sourpuss, but I know NOTHING about the person whose name I picked.
I have tried to get info out of her, but she is a very shy person, and even the 2 times when she has been at the lunch table, she has her ear phones in, watching episodes of....something. I have tried to look but she is in her corner.
It's about a 10 dollar limit, and I'm horrible at gift giving. I always go to gift cards, but I'm hoping someone here will have an idea...
Is there anyone who can think of something? I'm clueless! :dizzy:
I appreciate all suggestions, big or small!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!

I vote fuzzy socks
-
You could always get something a little more vague, maybe a small bag of nice chocolate? I saw some really nice ones at T J Max.
-
Is there someone you work with that knows her better? My first year at my job I also did the Secret Santa thing and the person I had wasn't someone that I knew either. I asked other people that had worked with her longer and found out that she liked Disney and sewing so I painted her a box that had some sewing tools on it (scissors, thread, pin cushion, etc) and there were three buttons on the lid in the shape of a Mickey.

I second the asking your other coworkers first. But in this situation, I would go with a nice assortment of nuts/candies/chocolates. But first try to find out if she has any allergies/strong dislikes.
-
I agree with trying to ask around to get some insight from your other coworkers, but also a generic gift works well (food, tree ornament, stationary set, candle).

Oh you guys, thanks for answering so quickly!
There is one small issue, and it's that SHE has only been here for 1 month, no one knows her either! I did try asking a few the friendlier people at the office, and that's how I found out no one else knows her, sheesh.
But, I mean she can't be all that anti social, because she signed up to participate too? I guess I'm just unsure how to approach her since I'm the polar opposite of shy :P Giving a gift secretly is hard!
Love the idea of fuzzy socks, at it gets pretty cold here in Winnipeg (minus 38 wind chill as I type), but can't go wrong with food/candles/ornaments either! I was told by my lead that there are no known allergies in the office...but you never know?!

what about a scarf~?
(could be fashionable, cute, etc based on how she dresses).

lol if she is shy it's really possible it makes guy be hard to find a gift. I've worked at my job for three years and I would say only two teachers know me well. I'm shy and not big on sharing, but I also don't play dirty Santa with them either and just watch. If she likes music and is listening through iTunes or something maybe a gift are like that? New ear buds maybe or something?

What kind of work do you do? Perhaps something that will make her job easier or more fun? Or if you have to dress a certain way, that could perhaps guide choices about scarves and socks. I like the suggestions about some fancy candies or earbuds.
-
Scarf, socks, candy, earbuds, itunes or google play gift card, stationary, chocolate, tea / cocoa and mug, candle(s), calendar (works better if it's specifically chosen, though)...
It's tough when you have no leads to go on. I've never had to buy for someone without having at least some idea of what they like.
-
So go up to her and say "Your Secret Santa asked me to find out what you like." It's not a lie. She doesn't have to know it's you unless you decide to reveal that you were her Secret Santa.
-
Give her something that you would love to receive--im sure she would be thrilled.
Do you see what kind of drink she likes at the table? Is it coffee? tea? cocoa? something else?
-
I'm so glad I asked you guys, you have all been so helpful!
I'm in an office setting, so it's business casual dress, a scarf would be acceptable I'm sure !(That was in no way a complaint :P )
I have only seen her with a water bottle, and it's pretty fancy looking glass thing.
I saw yesterday that she has a Batman case for her phone...might go see if I can find some Batman stationary??!
You guys rock, but you knew that already, right? ;)
