Title: Cleaning Tonka keypers?
Post by: Epona on November 11, 2016, 01:46:53 PM
I picked up a super stinky (smokey/ashtray) and sticky Keyper. I cleaned the outside with a toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner.
She is still really stinky.
I want to do an oxy bath on her but her paint is sticky/tacky. Is it ok for the paint to do an oxy scrub/bath?
Thanks

You could try the kitty litter box trick. Nothing would touch her so she'd probably be okay.

Could it be plasticizer leak causing the stickiness?

I don't think its plasticizor because she had a sticky brown coating all over her including her hair. I think it was nicotine from the smell.
I have ponies with plasticizor leaking and its shiny and oily feeling.

I've had really smoky smelly ponies. What I did was soak the ponies in a mixture of fabric softener and water. Just leave it in there for a few days, then rinse it off. I would also scrub the outside (and maybe also the inside) with dish soap and a toothbrush. The last thing I would try is just airing it out -- leave it by an open window when there's a nice breeze outside.

Hope some of this helps, at least...
