Those look like tiny teeth marks. Probaby a puppy wearing it's first collar ever. My husky pup chewed up more than one collar.

Dogs chew their collars all the time. Weird you just found it though! I presume you have dogs? I'd love a dog but I live in a flat...

Could be! I think it was the neighbor's, I was friends with them so I don't think they cared. Not to mention it was broken lol.

I do have dogs, but I have yet to have one that chewed it's collar off or attempted to.

Oh ok. My auntie's dog (German Shepherd x Husky breed) always used to try and chew his collar off, I heard it was quite a common thing for puppies to do but they usually grow out of it

I'm not sure if it's common or not. With my first dog he would drag his face on the carpet trying to get it off but he never chewed it. I know some dogs do chew them as puppies, but I didn't think of that at the time.

Yeah... dogs do that.  They also eat horse tack if you leave it where they can reach... *sigh*

My cat also chewed off three(!!) dog harnesses and since then we have realized that he just won't be able to tolerate wearing one.  He's a bigger cat so hence the Chihuahua-sized harnesses...
