Title: To Puff or Not to Puff...
Post by: retrogradenova on September 06, 2016, 01:30:47 PM
That is the question!
I had originally intended of doing a perfume puff with this lady. But now I'm not so sure. Either way I end up styling her, I felt the need to show off her beautiful olive flowing tresses.

The afternoon sun isn't doing the color justice, so here's a pic from before I decided to go longer with the tail :)

EDIT: I still had the old shorter tail laying around, so I puffed it just so we could compare it. I was doing a bit of experimentaion with how I fluffed it, so It may have lost a bit more of the fiber than i would have liked. I've also been debating on blue or white ribbon, so that's why the bow is there.

On a side note my cat, he isn't happy with me right now.

woah!
I saw her WIP before...still love her symbols and the whole concept.
because of the curl in the hair, it looks great this way
however, the extra length can be a pain over time to keep dust-free and untangled. I would probably cut it at the very least
that being said, she'd probably look great with a poof (Which will definitely shorten the hair lol). maybe leave a few curls as a forelock ?

That's fun, looks like some encroachment of the Everfree forest  :P

I'd definitely keep her like that for a while at least!

Thank you!

Keeping her clean is one of my big concerns. She's a gift for my mother, who, knowing her, will likely put her on display in her salon. Who knows what kind of mess she's going to get into there.  I really love the long length. I had wanted to do kinda a long puff originally which is why she got so long when I was hairing her. I was working under the assumption I'd loose close to half the length in the puffing process.

She looks so gorgeous the way she is! But at the same time I think she'd look amazing puffed (and I definitely want to see that). Looks like you have a really hard choice to make on this one.

Even though I think she would look amazing with puff, I think it's better to leave it as is and just cut the length a bit. The waves are easier to keep clean and tidy than puff I think.

I don't like Perfume Puffs so my vote is no especially with how lovely the mane and tail are as they are now.

Added a picture of what this particular yarn looks like puffed. Now it's even harder to decide  >_<

Can you get a small display case for her? I have a TY Beanie Baby case which I keep a few ponies in.

Love pkw xxx

That's an idea, I think I have one or two of those around.

I would say no puff. I love the curled, ringlets type look and it seems to fit her really well!
She is gorgeous though, definitely find her a display box.

I'm not sure whether this is useful or not but I've noticed that yarn fibres are only a certain length, so no matter how long you make the plugs of yarn, the extras would still all comb out leaving you with the length of the yarn.   It is possible to leave the hair longer than the length of the fibres, but the fibres towards the end will always be prone to coming away because they are not held in by the plug hole.
