Hey everypony,
I posted about this many years ago when I first got this pony at a flea market. Since then, more nirvanas have been discovered, so maybe more light can be brought upon my Princess Taffeta I found years ago. Here she is.

I don't know if she's a variant or not. I vividly remember the booth I found her at (at a flea market). They had a ton of G1 ponies and none of the other ponies had switched tails (it's where I found my SS Angel for only a dollar!). I don't mean to stereotype, but I live in the US, and the sellers had a very European style of dress. I think they were foreign. Hence, my suspecting of a possible variant. However, her tail washer is loose. But the tail is firmly in place and her head is glued on like it was never removed. I know a lot of the time when princess ponies are variants, the tails aren't as thick as hers is. I have also never seen a Princess Taffeta with a blue tail.
I'd be willing to mail her to someone to look it. Or even dismantle her. I'm very curious. I've wondered for years. If she's not a variant, I definitely want to get her a proper tail, LOL. Or just get an upgrade.
But, maybe someone can shed some light on her? I've been curious for a long time. It would be cool if I had a variant, but I seriously doubt I do. Let me know what you experts think!
-
if her head is sealed tight, like factory, as you write :-) my opinion would be she's a UK variant
-
Sounding positive so far. Yes, her head is sealed very tight. But as I said, her tail washer is lose. She rattles when you shake her. I am taking that into account. It does not appear though, that her tail hole has been messed with.
I would definitely like to think I have a variant. Still, I'd like to get a regular Taffeta. I guess I should add her to my wishlist.
-
The issue is she's a one off. Unless another is uncovered we can't be really sure?
-
It would be cool if mine is one of a kind. But, I'm also entertaining the idea she could have a replacement tail. I wish someone who is an expert could look at her. I am definitely not an expert.
-
I would always turn to pwk or lady g to see If she was legitamte or not. They are the princess queens :)
-
For princess variants you want pkw or shelti really :)
There are UK variant princesses with different tails, but with the tail washer being loose, it could go either way. Does the colour match any other ponies?
-
It kind of looks like Cha Cha's tail, but it doesn't match the timeline of all the ponies I found from them. They were from year 5 and earlier.
There is a lot of curl in the tail.
-
It looks similar to princess sparkles colour is it a match?
-
I just compared to my Princess Sparkle. It's a direct match minus the tinsel. And the curlyness. My Princess Sparkle has straight silky hair Bu the color is spot on.

Well I have had some bobbies with poor looking hair.
I have some princesses varients with fat tails.
Wish I could find one and put you out your misery haha I hunt every week! :D
-
How big is her tail hole? Is it the same size as an adult pony or is it baby sized?
Her hoof marks are normal for Princess Taffeta :)
The tail looks Aqua coloured (Peach Blossom/Princess Amethyst) rather than blue (Bubbles/Magesty)
Usually Taffeta variants have a red stone, rather than a blue stone.

Yes, aqua would be the best description. Peach Blossoms hair color fits her to a T. Her tail hole seems to be a regular adult's.
-
I wonder if it is Peach Blossom's tail? Flutter ponies do have long curly tails like that. Also as PKW mentioned Taffeta variants usually do have a red stone, but I am no expert :)
-

(I was a bad child) I would swap tails without breaking seals as a kid. pinch the bum and wiggle off the washer and poke half the tail in and pull on the longer side and it would usually slide right out. princess's had two smaller ones, still though not too difficult to do with the US/UK style clamped tails.
-
I would have thought the tail too long and thick for a flutter but I don't have one to compare any more!
-
I was thinking it looks more the aqua of a GITD princess... lemme go get my princess variants to check pics = back in a bit
-
I thought flutter pony tails were kind if long? Maybe it is a flutter tail.
-
Do You have one to compare it too.?!

ok so the US/UK sparkler is the one with the princess bow
note: the variants all have longer than regular sparkler tail
so if your taffeta is a lighter blue than say bubbles (sitting pose) = like you wrote it's a match for sparkler = that's how I see it with this group shot. To me, all the sparklers both regular and variant have that aqua color, so I'm voting for keep her in the running and let's hope we find another and hope shelti chimes in :-)
-
Also there are some pristina variants with that tail as well so it's not exclusive to the 1st set princess
I haven't found any princess variants for a while but I always hope haha xx
-
The tail Taffeta has does look very long, longer than a regular tail :) have you tried carefully combing it to see what the full length is.
MCM those Princess butts  I love it!!!!
NapperCasper yes that colour tail is also found on the Pristina variants as well as some of the happy tail variants.
The nirvana gallery has most of the know Princess variants ^.^

I compared her with my Peach Blossom. The length is the same. However, Princess Taffetta's tail is much more thick and curlier.
I'm starting to think I have a dud on my hands. XD
-
:) which other ponies got this colour hair? I can't think  I can only think of Peach Blossom and Princess Amethyst.
Princess tails are made of two tails; a thin tail with tinsel and some nylon and a thick tail made purely of nylon.

I would keep her :satisfied:
-
It looks like a replacement tail to me. The whole tail just looks "off" and looks like one side is longer then the other so it's been pulled on quite hard, making the washer fall off.
-
I would keep her :satisfied:
I think I'll hold on to her. I agree with Pierlala though, her tail looks off. Maybe if I am able to go to another MLP Fair and there is a nirvana expert there, I'll bring her along and maybe they can examine her for me to give me a better idea. But I think I will get an upgraded Taffeta in the meantime.
Thank you everyone for your input.
-
I agree that you should keep her ^.^

Could it perhaps be that the tail has been re-coloured by the previous owner?
-
Merry go round sparkler has a perfect color match and was curled. Release dates work too. Could also get a longer tail with exact nylon match from Hasbro magic meadow ponies (aka cabbage patch ponies) They had that color too and are longer.
Is it real? No idea. Just some options.
-
The Sweetheart Sisters have really long tails and I think either SHS Cha Cha or Frilly Flower (or maybe both) have that color. Cha Cha also has very curly hair. Just a thought!
