Title: Can you dance?
Post by: Leave a Whisper on July 10, 2016, 11:32:41 PM
Can you dance? Not me! I'm about as graceful as a drunk rhino in a China shop.

That's okay.

No, not really, when I used to 'try' to dance I was never able to 'dance to the beat' so to speak, so I think the best answer for me is nope/nada. :P

Nope.

I was walking home one night and this lady seen me and said "YOU, SIT HERE" I was like  Yes, sir. Nobody here can speak any English so I was a bit shocked that she even knew the words for you, sit and here. I kinda knew what was comming next as some more older ladies arrived, and she was sitting next to a large speaker on wheels. One of the activities here for ladies, usually OLD ladies, is dancing. They do it all over the place from about 7 pm to 9 PM. its called square dancing but its not the American version of it, although I suppose the basic idea is kinda similar. Each song has specific moves to it and you are kinda in a square.
So no, I can not dance - even compared to 80 year old ladies  -_-

Well this is absolutely brilliant! I had no idea.

Um, sick moves here :p

None! I haven't even ever danced in public in my whole life. Too embarrassing for my taste.
Yep, old people here love doing all kinds of exercise activities outside, badminton, dancing, shadow boxing, you name it.
Last weekend I saw an older woman singing really passionately into her smartphone while listening to the song via earphones.

Depends. Am I by myself or around people?

Can I? I don't even know, to be honest. I've not been in a situation calling for dancing in sooo many years. Like we're talking the mid 90s maybe, even, when I was a little child? I just never got interested in it, I suppose.

Yes and no? I took dance classes until I was 20, so if a social occasion ever called for tap dancing, I'm your girl, but put me in a club and I'd be like Elaine from Seinfeld. I even do choreography for local theatres, but didn't dance at my own high school prom!

Nope.  My artistic talents lie elsewhere.

I sometimes play my accidentally-purchased copy of Just Dance 2015 when the rest of my family's out of the house, because I'm too embarrassed to return it and want to get my money's worth. But I don't think that counts...

I can dance if someone wants to choreograph it for me...
Or I can follow someone else when dancing with a partner at least to some degree of not completely making a fool of myself.

However - nobody will ever see how I dance when I'm alone. It's horrendous.

17 years of training and some pro experience, so yes, I can dance. I will never let anyone watch anymore. Except my daughter. I dance for myself.

I'm pretty sure I'm off beat when I dance. Kinda dance like a mad woman...

I can barely twerk (it hurts my lower back  >_< )

I think twerking hurts everyone's backs. It's not a natural movement in repetition while standing. (I really hope that is phrased correctly and not offensive to anyone )

Ballet for me! 10+ years of pointe, but I'm still not good enough to perform. I unfortunetly had a grade 3 posterior ligament tear on my leg and can't bend right ever since. Positions 3 and 4 are so awkward for me how lolol.

All I know is those women are athletes, no idea how they do it. I saw footage from the UK national championship at Hammersmith Apollo.

Yes!

I took tap, ballet and jazz while I was growing up. I think I was 4 when I started? I can't remember. But I did that until I was 13. All throughout elementary, middle, and high school, I performed in musicals which usually required dancing. Even now, I'll play Just Dance every morning before I go to work and I'd like to think that I'm pretty darn good when it comes to dancing. ^.^ My husband and I are debating taking a salsa dancing class in the fall- I think it'll be awesome, but he thinks he has two left feet. :P

Hmm... I thought maybe I should define my answer better. (I was not a stripper) I started ballet, tap, and jazz at almost 3 years old. Russian character, modern, African, hula, belly dancing, and pretty much anything I could squeeze into my life. Ballet was my first love and professional experience. Angelina ballerina had a profound effect on my two year old mind. Just lucky that I had the ability to go as far as I did.

I took tap dancing when I was younger. although I never stuck with it. Ive tried ballet, salsa, mainly I use those to exercise. I still find dancing fun and I like to dance. My daughter loves to dance. Also my mom was in Modern dance a long time ago.

When I was a teenager, I took ballroom dancing lessons for about a year. It wasn't something I desperately wanted to do, but rather something everyone in my year did, so I went along with it. The dancing itself was all right, but I didn't like the atmosphere in the dancing school very much.

As an adult, I enjoy dancing far more than I did when I was younger, probably because these days, I do it because I want to. I haven't done any ballroom dancing in ages, but I go clubbing every now and then, and that's always fun.

I took a bunch of dance classes in college in a variety of styles, but I haven't really retained any of it I think. I like dancing (in the modern generic freeform way of doing things) with friends though.

I took ballet and modern classes for many years, so I have a few moves up my sleeves! ;) Never was quite as talented as the other dancers, though.

I haven't taken any formal classes, but I've been told I could be a good belly dancer... :lookround:

I also apparently have some natural ballroom moves.. My bf at the time decided to dance with me one night outside in public.. I was so embarrassed.. He was twirling me around, dipped me a couple of times even, but I kept up pretty good to our surprise..

I can dance a bit.  I know a few line dances, and I love to swing.  We danced swing at my wedding.  :)  I can pick up steps fairly easily if someone shows me.

I've never seen any white people dance that way in real life. I always thought it was a joke for TV and the movies.

I actually love to dance, as long as I'm home alone and nobody is watching.
The only exception I make is when me and my 2,5 year old niece have "dance parties" to Shake it Off ^.^
