Title: Why is it still censored?
Post by: Motion-Paradox on May 12, 2016, 03:52:54 PM
I'm not sure if this is the exact place for it, but it seemed right. I was wondering why we still have the censoring for :muffin: Pony's name and to such a degree that even using a slightly different spelling or throwing a bit of punctuation in doesn't prevent it. Yes, I do realise there was a controversy surrounding her and that it was caused by communication issues during production, but that was over 4 years ago and I've seen some people have difficulty with posting links to fan works and even auctions related to her because the system does not differentiate.

Even if it's not removed entirely perhaps it could at least be adjusted so it's less strict

We have tried removing the filter in the past, and it resulted in chaos again. Since having it the Arena has been a lot calmer. Even if it's not the topic of the day, just having the name floating around stirs up trouble. The variations are because people tried to disrespect and avoid the rules in place. There's no way to make the filter differentiate between a word in a post or in a URL.

Both names are cannon, just to appease both parents and bronies.

The name bronies gave her is a word that has been used on the Internet for a long time, however it's meant to mock disabled people (esp. people with Down syndrome). Not like such behavior is anything new for certain sections of the 'net but the MLP staff wasn't aware and when the writer of the episode she first spoke in found out what that word means, she was appalled (apparently her son is autistic) and removed it competely.

I really don't like it when people call her that word. But I call her Bubbles personally!
Some others I've seen are Bubblecup, Muffin/Muffins, Miss Muffin and the (muffin emoji) pony. :good:

I see, it's a pity the programming doesn't let you adjust the settings and I'm a little surprised it's so touchy even now, thank you for answering my question though

Please dont use this if its a site we have specifically already filtered :( We will consider it flouting the filter rules we have in place.
