Hello
Sorry if this has been discussed before..
What are some of the most valuable ponies ever sold, I'm looking for a top five or a top 10 :) I tried to google it but discussions were quite old.
Thanks
Kez

i would say:
- the Takaras
- the South Africans ponies
- the yellow greek unicorns ;)
- the super rare French variant: Suntie
but there is plenty of others....

Cool topic! I don't know, there are a few ponies that go for over $1000, a lot of nirvanas and possibly Rapunzel. I think the rarest ones are the one-of-a-kinds like prototypes that are hard to put a value on. SA ponies and Colombians are pretty pricey too!
-
The most valuable of the South African ponies I have sold went for $3050, applejack. The others I have sold have gone for around $900
There has to be a boxed SA pony somewhere right? I wonder what that would be worth.. I imagine myself walking into some old toy store in some small town.. And there they are, a whole section of unopened MIB Ponies... Lol.
-
Some of the Takaras are definitely up there, also the MIE Ladybird and Easter candle ponies from Greece.
-
The top prices are all private sales and most are one of a kind, so cant disclose the pony for privacy reasons. But I do know of at least two that broke $10 thousand USD and there are a few I suspect were in the 8-12K range.
For "regular" ponies, MOC mimic easily tops 2K, Rapunzel with accessories or MIP will go over 1K, the MIP bag with all 6 TAF babies goes over 1K, lots of nirvanas will hit 1-3K, South Africans, Takaras, some MIP nirvanas.
1K USD used to be a threshold, I remember one of the first Peru Glory's went for $900 and everyone freaked out at the time, the first MIP Mimic went over 1K and it was a huge deal back when, but after the run on Greek babies and then the Columbians, SA's and Takaras building up numbers in the community its become less special if you ask me.
-
Also my lovely girl and her sister can be considered as high valuable ;)

The only comment I have to make on this is O.o.
I had no idea that any ponies had reached five figures.
And I still consider $200 a huge amount to spend on a pony. xD.
-
Greek Baby Bluebell maybe? I see her up for cuh-razy prices!

There are only two ponies that I have have spent more than $20 on. I like the big lots that end up $5 each. It would take a year for me to save enough for a $1000 pony. My daughter's more important. This is an extremely illuminating thread. My goal someday is mimic as I have all the other TE.

I remember the Thailand Mountain boys selling for over $1000 a few years back.
-
I remember seeing a Ladybird (Greek) in her Egg on ebay a few years ago for about $2,500.
She is insanely beautiful though.....if I had the money......!!
-
the super rare French variant: Suntie
Who is this please?? Curiosity at full flow here
-
I can't remember the name of the owner, but Suntie is a cross between French Sunlight and French Bow Tie. She has rainbow hair and Sunlight's body colour with Bow Tie's symbol. She's beautiful and one of a kind, to the best of my knowledge! :)
-
she is not OOAK
I have her too, another french collector too.
I remember someone here one day posted a pic of the one she owned asking informations about this strange bowtie too, so there are at least 4 ponies like this one..
-
oh cool! such a pretty pony :)
-
I remember French Suntie (Bowtie Variant) went here at the Arena for more than 5 K!

OMG. She is to die for!

Thailand Mountain Boys are pretty expensive, but not as expensive as some of the others listed. Mine is not mint, but he cost me £480 (totally worth it!)
SoSilver - walking Firefly is so gorgeous! <3 I think she would definitely be up there :)
-
I agree that some of the higher ones are probably private sales, but I would say Takaras go for quite a bit still :)
-
LG. what thai pony do you have!!! Pictures please
-
Clearly I had forgotten to share, lol! I have the Thailand Thundercloud that previously belonged to WingedElf. He has an unfortunate trim to the front of his mane, and a few age spots, but he really rocks the hat! I purchased him at Ponycon last year :)
(my pictures of him without the hat didn't come out so well)

But that's why he has the hat, right? XD ;) (And photobombed a bunch of my ponycon photos wearing it xD).
I am still not getting over mentally the idea of someone spending essentially a year's rent on a pony, though...
12k. Wow. I just can't even...

Hes amazing LG. You have one of the 8 thailand mountain boys ever found. Thats a great addition to your collection!!!!!
-

I thought so too :) I wasn't sure about spending that much (in cash, lol - I borrowed from Sebby as cash point would only let me get so much out at once and I didn't have a stall to pinch from for a change), but when it came down to it, I thought there weren't going to be many opportunities to do so :)
