Minnesota ~Spring Flowers~ Pony Party

Wouldn’t it be nice to get together with your pony friends for an afternoon? Let’s do! Please join us for a little party to celebrate sunshine, spring blossoms and special friends!  The pony fair and big summer meet are still months away, so let’s get together! ;) :rainbow: Don’t overthink it- just come on by! :rainbow:

What: ~Spring Flowers~ Pony Party
When: Saturday May 7th (the day before Mother’s Day)
Time: 1-4ish
Where: ponyqueen’s house in the Twin Cities
Host pony: Posey!

EVENT SCHEDULE
1-2 Arrival, set up, buy/sell/trade
2-3 Socializing buy/sell/trade, show and tell
3-4 Group photo, cake, trivia and dice game (buy/sell/trade)
4- Art/craft contest prize, raffle winner, door prizes
WHAT TO BRING :flow:
 :rainbow: 2-3 Wrapped gifts for dice game (Pony or candy- something you would want! Value ~$1-3 each item)
 :rainbow: Entry for Art/Craft contest featuring host pony, Posey! (Not mandatory. Prize will be awarded if more than 3 entries)

Not sure she's still in stores over there, and the peeps I know selling them MOC are looking for ~$18 for her. Is this in your budget?

I love that you have "connections." I'm also really excited that you are going to an international pony meet- is that the whole reason for your trip? Or were you going to be there anyway, and there also happens to be a meet?

I will put it on the calendar, and as far as I know there isn't anything planned for that day. I like when there are meets connected to the holidays that my hubby is supposed to get me gifts for (you know what I mean) because he just hands me cash for the meet!

Posey just doesn't get enough love in my herd, so it will be nice to see her in the spotlight for once! I've started making this different sort of craft thing, so I've already got a craft in mind for this meet. Actually, I've already got half of Posey made, I was making Fluttershy and forgot the wings at a critical moment...

Last year my husband and I went over for the tulips, and by luck the Dutch collectors were having their meet during our travel window- so we booked it back from Germany on the night train to rendevous with Moonbreeze and carpool up to the meet!

This year- I am going over for the express purpose of pony hunting and pony meet! Aaaaand husband is staying home with the pets.  ^.^

For the dice game, do we have a theme, or is it a free-for-all?

I'm a little torn with the prizes for the mini-meets, because I sort of want to keep the "good" prizes for the big meet, but I also like the chance to use the good prizes at the smaller meets, so people have a better chance of getting them.

What do you think? Theme? How did people like the G1-themed game? I just wanted all folks to get a good chance at non-g4 merch. If not G1 theme or all gen mlp theme, do you have a suggestion? It might be fun to have everyone who wants to play bring three prizes, maybe one is food prize, one is a pony prize, and the other is a Spring prize? That way there's a decent selection in every category (and I try to bring more than three prizes, even if they aren't all really awesome).
Or this could be a home-spun prize pack- is a month enough time to make at least one home-made prize? It could be art or candy or a queen-sized quilt...

I'm all for a g1-theme, but I used up my good stuff last time. I also got some really great stuff, so I can't complain! I'll find more if that's what we decide to do, no worries.

Anyone else have thoughts? I really like the dice game, it's simple but flurried and fun for everyone. It's a good game to always play- different every time, and it doesn't matter how big your collection is or how talented you are. Ah, Luck. You are a fun one.

Man, I really wish I could come!  That's the day before my birthday too!  ^.^

Unfortunately, Mothers Day is the juggernaut of flower holidays, and I'm going to be run ragged at that point, especially the day before!  >_<  If by some miracle I can make it, I'd love to be there.   :)

I'm almost finished with my Posey Project- the puffy paint is drying. A little bit of yarning, and poof! Instant Posey! I got the eye color wrong, but maybe I can fix that...

Just a few weeks away! I am so disstracted by so many things... Must paint tulip pony!!

My spring flowers are LOVING this damp but warm weather... the hyacinths are up, a few daffs and about a hundred tulips to go!

My asparagus is up! The sheltered bed, at least. Flowers are awesome, but I know it's really here when the little asparagus heads peek up.

My Tulip Pony is done and ready to be shown off. I just came up with a ridiculous idea for a fun pony, now I just have to find some time to cut out the pieces. She has nothing to do with Spring, but I hope to have her finished so I can show her off.

Montgomery is one of the little town on my way to the pony meet, and it is having it's city-wide garage sale on the same morning as the meet. Perhaps I will leave a little early and do a little extra hunting on my way!

By the way, I will almost certainly have my 2-year-old with me this time. He and the husky will get along fabulously, but he doesn't completely understand older dogs. I've forgotten the puppy's names, but will the greyhound be all right with a toddler in the house? I'll try to keep him off the dogs, but he's a tricky little guy, and there will be many distracting ponies. I'm also planning on bringing Ashley, the blue-haired girl who came with me to the Big Meet last September, and she is really good at keeping the kiddo out of trouble. Together, we will keep your house safe! But other sellers, be aware there will be a toddler- perhaps keep fragile things to the back of tables, please? He's a good kid, but he's still a 2-year-old kid! (I'm fully prepared to leave if there is a melt-down, I don't want to torture anyone!)

Leaving Monday night... so trying to finish up a few commissions, plus get in a quick order for prints for the Seattle pony con (everfree)...

Anyone have a print request? I'm submitting the order tomorrow... maybe I'll order a couple extra posies...

Because I'm considering bringing my sales thread stuff this time around.
I haven't updated my sales thread in a loooong time so I've acquired a LOT of new stuff (including a couple non pony items) and I thought I might be able to get rid of some at this meet.

Hee-hee! Netherlands adventure!

Hey, just wanted to update who is coming with me. The blue-haired girl has another adventure that weekend, but my nephew (almost 30-year-old nephew) is coming and bringing his almost-5-year-old daughter. John and Anwyn are their names. I'm very curious how this is going to go, since I'll have my 2-year-old son, too.

MNGusty, are you coming? I think I'll go PM you, just to see if there will be another kid or two there...

Sorry to be MIA forever, I haven't been on the arena in months!  We sold our house and are in the process of finding a new house so that's been all consuming!  I would love to try to come (with kids) to the party, I just can't commit since we may be looking at houses on Saturday.  I'll keep you posted!!  It sounds super fun and would be GREAT to see everyone!!

Argh, so, so sorry, is it too late to RSVP?!?   :crazy:  We'd be arriving about an hour late because our  market season opens that day and doesn't end until 1pm, with tear-down taking half hour or so.   :freak:  But we'd love to come and hang out.   :biggrin:


So sorry PonyQueen for not responding sooner.  :blush: Time totally got away from me.  I'm still pretty sure my brain is still in March.   :ack:

Getting ready! I finished the BIG PROJECT, I'm excited for show and tell! Hint- not a quilt!

I'm also bringing another friend, her name is Annie. I think her hair is rainbow right now, since that's how I refer to my friends!

note- the 4-year-old that I'm bringing is... pernicious. Like a Kinid. A Pernicious Kinid. Loving and adorable, but rambunctious. If she is bothering anyone in any way, find a subtle way to let me know. She'll have two adults to watch her, and she's not mean, but she doesn't really understand boundaries. (I hope she's an angel on Saturday and makes me look crazy!)
So don't feel bad if we have to bug out early, due to the first kid-pony-adventure I'm taking. Bear with us!

Looking forward to Saturday!

Oh my gosh, the party is tomorrow! I need to finish the trivia questions, set up some tables, select a cake, wrap the dice game presents...

Dice game! Is everyone in? Not specifically G1, although those items are most popular I think. I'll have a mix of G1, pony other, candy candy snacks. :D Perhaps some Dutch thingies!

Thank you so much, everyone, for all the fun and pony goodness! And I really appreciate your patience with Lincoln and Anwyn. They had so much fun playing with Jeff's toys and the painting board and the puppies!
The cake was amazing, even though I shared it with several other creatures... I realized afterwards that I should have had another piece. I didn't fully appreciate the frosting at the time! MMmmmm!
Neon, the poster is amazing. AMAZING.

I haven't gotten any pictures from John or Annie yet, but I'll post them as soon as I see them.

Thank you for all the ponies you've gathered for me from around the world, too. I got to show my husband the pony he bought me for Mother's Day last night, he was not as impressed as me. But he sent along money for Holly Dash, so I think it counts!

PQ- When I get time, I'm going to research exactly what the spots in the eggs are. Until then, I am NOT going to think they are an eye! That's creepy!

Gusty- Who did you want me to try and make? I'm still psyching myself up to do horns. And super-open to trading! I forgot to mention that earlier. I also need a catchy name for them- Patchwork Pony Pillows flows nicely, but doesn't have the word Toss in the name, and I realized they need to be called "Toss" Something. If I make a Gusty, there is no pressure to buy her- I have the buttons. It's just that horn that has me a little freaked out!
