I think he basically was a revamp of Clever Clover. His fiancee, Princess Flora, was actually just Morning Glory with another name.

Totally agree, but I think all the G2's have that issue. It might have been cool if they did a slightly different mold for the characters they wanted to be boys, like maybe even if it was just a different muzzle or a broader forehead and they used the same body sculpt.
