Title: PC: 2 Tlc Mimics
Post by: Whoa1234 on February 26, 2016, 01:05:55 PM
Slowly downsizing my collection! I would really appreciate a PC on these two. Both have seen better days, with one in pretty bad condition. Will be selling on FB (no longer sell on the arena).

*strokes non-existent beard*

She's a tough one to price! Recently on eBay, a Mimic with dry hair, a faded pink streak and a few small marks went for $83.10. I would recommend a minimum of $60 - $70 for the one wearing the artist's smock, and around $90 - $100 for the other one.

That's just my opinion - I'd like to see another collector chime in with their thoughts.

I dunno, I think the Mimic with no symbol there might even go lower. Symbols are hard to effectively repair due to paint bleeding and general wear. I've been sitting on this a little bit and though I think its hard to say, I'd go even a little less with her because the flaws are very difficult to repair with out potentially causing further damage to the pony down the line.

The other one, yeah, that sounds about right.

Just out of curiosity, what could take an entire symbol off? Is that possible? Or is it a factory error?

My preference would be to keep as much of the original there as possible and use whats left as a guide for repainting. You could easily remove all of it with acetone if the desire arose.

Does it look like the red was never there? Like it just wasn't printed on? o.o

Thats what I was thinking too. The yellow is clearly there, but the red not. I can't imagine just the red fading away. And its very hard to cleaning remove just part of a symbol, so yeah hmmm. The most logical thing I think is that the red didn't get printed?

As someone who buys flawed G1s for my collection (because they're more affordable and many flaws don't bother me) I can't see paying more than $40 for the worse of the two. Yeah, it's Mimic, but that girl has seen better days! If some/most of the marks were removed I'd go a little higher.

The other one I'd say anywhere from $65-80. But again that's just what I personally would pay.

My guess is it got faded by the sun. As I recall certain colors fade more easily than others - the red color probably just faded faster than the yellow in this case.

I don't think fading is the culprit here, because even if it were a simple object of fading, the paint would be in tact and visible, but just faded.

I think the symbols just weren't printed, unless the owner of said pony can say if there are still traces of the red left

I question if the red splotches are a factory paint miss on the line?
 Pm'd a few days ago...

Sorry for the delay, I thought the arena sent notifications when people posted to your threads.
I will be ba k on Iater today with better quality photo
:)

Edit-
i'm not sure if the red all over is from her symbol or another source.
I can very faintly see the curve of the parrots head but that is it.
I wouldn't call her an FE just a super rough girl.
Shes got a chewed horn, knicks in her plastic, tail rust, pindot, stains etc.
Surprisingly,no pony cancer.
I'm trying to figure out how to upload more pictures. I no longer use photobucket and imgur is not working out too well.

High priced ponies with problems do tend to drop a little dramatically unfortunately.

She is currently running at the higher end of her price range in minty condition - $130. I think the nicer looking one $100 would be good. The very poor condition one I would think $40 would be fair.
