Title: Who was your very first pony?

Mine was Sunlight. I dont even remember getting her, but I remember that she was first.

Maybe one of them? :satisfied: I remember playing with them in our apartment in Germany (Dad was in the army and he was stationed there a short time when I was wee small) - 3 or 4 years old. I have better memories of acquiring other ponies but they're a little later. :)

Post by: TwistedRiver on January 27, 2016, 06:41:22 PM: My first pony was Snuzzle, I only have vague memories of actually getting her, I remember when I got my second pony (Minty) better, I got her and the Pony Royal ponywear which immediately went to Snuzzle. I remember for a long time I was not without them, I even cuddled them at night when I went to bed. Still have both of them too, and thanks to the pony community I was able to get Snuzzle her ponywear again as well as the ponywear I'd gotten for Minty as a child (Parade Pizzazz).

The first *real* MLP I got at the hospital after surgery, was Italy Skydancer!

I remember getting my first *pony*, it was a *fake* because MLP where coming out around the holiday's and they where a little pricey and my mother thought it was just a phase so she decided I could have that one first and when I really enjoyed playing with it they could always buy real ones!
And I love *and still does!!!!* my *fakie* till death!!!

*I need to type out the story about this pony...because I lost her...and found her back after many years!! She has traveled a lot in the mean time...I can assure you!*

Though now many years later and just starting to collect again, my first pony was Sundance.

My first ever childhood pony was a G2 Glitteryheart. I still have her, somehow nearly complete with her hat, shades and bag (I Have no idea how I didn't loose them), then came some G3 ponies :)

The pony that got me into collecting was a thriftstore find - G1 Flurry! Although I am now collecting G3's only, Flurry is very dear to me since she got me back into MLP :D

She is one of the few we got from new, most of my other childhood ones were hand-me-downs from my cousin or second-hand from the local market. I still have my childhood CJ, she's in fab condition!! I bought her her baby to go with her, they're so cute together :)
As an adult, it was Masquerade that started me off collecting. I was on holiday with my friends, and we started talking about things from our childhood. Obviously the subject of MLP came up, and I said "I wonder if there's any on eBay?" I looked, and there was Masquerade, a pony I'd always wished I'd had as a child! She was ending in like 5 minutes, so I asked my husband if I could bid, he said yes, and I won her!! That was January 2010, and I've been collecting ever since.

Yes I have! She and SkyDancer never lose each others side anymore! *In the Carrying Case are the other ponies from my childhood herd, sadly only the one's who survived... :cry:

I got her for Christmas. I knew I would get a pony as a present, and I remember being very, very excited, lying in bed trying to sleep the night before Christmas and singing to myself about the pony I was to finally get :) She is my most precious toy, and I've taken her with me whenever I moved (been living in three different countries so far). I am very sure that there was a misprint on the backcard of her box, saying that her name was "Minky" instead of Minty - that's what I called her until about a year ago when I first found out that she was supposed to be called Minty, haha :lol:

I was almost 3 when I got her, so it's hazy :) My mother got her for me. She actually remembers this quite clearly, apparently it was BHS, and they were all on a pillar, and there were others there as well. Mum doesn't remember which, but she says she remembered Windy was really pretty to her and they were inexpensive, so she decided to buy her and see if I liked it. Little did she know what she was beginning.

She also insisted for years, before any UK carded images or ponies appeared online, that the horizantal card image of MOC Windy was "wrong" because my Windy had been on a "long card". And then UK carded ones came up on ebay and she was proven right :)

My sister's was Fizzy, second hand, when she was three.

From carbooting (which was recollecting beginning point in 1995) - Lickety Split and Parasol.

From online trading, Mimic and Best Wishes.

I still have all my childhood ponies, though, and so does Naynie, so Windy for me and Fizzy for her.

SS Fifi!

The first pony I remember getting was Ruby Lips, and I remember her being on clearance at the grocery store and *begging* my mom for her (my mom didn't like buying 'name brand' things). Her package was beat up and the lipstick was missing, but my mom bought her for me. I wish I still had Ruby Lips and SS Fifi!

My sister had them before me, and even as a toddler I always had a pony in hand. I'm not sure who my very first ponies were, though I know for certain there was a Peachy that got my Sis and I going, I recall baby Sunshower, Baby Blossom, Baby Lickety Split, and I do recall having her so soft Mommy who I regrettably took swimming with me one day... There were so many though, I wish I could just grasp back in time and figure out who exactly was the first but, no, my memory just isn't tat good XD

BUT I do still have that infamous Peachy that started it all! My sister let me have her when she outgrew them, and though she's VERY well loved she holds a place of honor in my herd. She's kinda the granny. Her hairs thinned and balding, she's been chewed on and is so worn down, but she's wearing the shawl my Granny crocheted for us <3 I adore her!

G3 Starbeam was the pony that got me started on my pony collection (and collecting children's toys in general...I have much too many now....)

That is such an awesome picture!

I don't have so many early pictures like that - a few with ponies in the background and foreground, and then we play a mad guessing game with a wrapped package that looks pony shaped (maybe that's Masquerade?)

THe earliest pony photo I think I have is me with Baby Blossom when I was about...four or five? She was my 2nd pony. No pictures with Windy from very early on, sadly...

She was my least favorite in my herd- I think because she was dirty- maybe I got her second hand- no idea. I have since cleaned her up and she looks a lot better :)

The one that first started my collection was Comic Con Muffin pony. I really really wanted her, but didn't have the money. I'd just started to go really downward in my disability. I resonated with :muffin: because I was different too. My mom took me to all of the hot topics that were in my area so I could enter to win her. The vinyl kind was coming out around that time and I was one of the first ones to get them too. days later I got a call telling me I won her, right after we got a call that I was getting into the best specialist in my area.

I had a party at their house with a Daisy Duck cake. I insisted on wearing my Rainbow Brite dress. I remember that my cousin gave me some hangers. Right after I opened the hangers, Bowtie was next.

I wasn't impressed! But when we got back to the motel that night, I played with her all evening long. Who knew what kind of craziness she'd start? :P I've still got her, too.

My family stopped at Walgreens on the way to visit a museum and my parents let my brother and I pick out a toy each. I remember my dad asking me if I wanted "pink or purple" (aka Pinkie Pie or Tink-a-Tink-a-Too). Later that week, I rolled the coins in my piggy bank and went back for the Pinkie Pie! At the time I believe I was in second grade, but there's also a slight possibility I was in first. I still recall being slightly surprised at how much I liked the look of them in person because I was annoyed by the tv commercials because they didn't look like "real horses" (this was also around the time I started my Breyer collection). Once I had Tink-a-Tink-a-Too in hand I was totally head over heels with ponies and I played with them constantly. Later that year, opening the Cotton Candy Cafe and the Celebration Castle made for one of the most exciting Christmas mornings ever! I still have all of my childhood herd, and I feel very lucky about that because for a while I feared they had gotten lost when I moved! Also, now the ponies and Breyer horses coexist very nicely on my shelves :P

I got four "first ponies". I remember pretty clearly that I was 7, and I'd just finished grade 2 so it was summer of 2003 right when g3 launched, and my parents brought me to the local TRU so i could pick out a couple of toys as a reward for getting a good report card.
We were kind of just wandering through the store (I was just "getting over" Barbies so I didn't have a "type" of toy) when Razzaroo really caught my eye, and I was like, wait I found someting I like! :lol: My parents said the sign said that there was a sale, something like "buy a playset, get a single pony 50% off", so I could get both of the playsets and choose two of the single ponies if they were something I really liked. I looked around and found the other playset with Moondancer, and then I chose Sunny Daze (she looked so bright and pretty up on that highest peg!), and Rainbow Dash.

The whole time I was trying to choose, my mum kept telling me to "get the orange one!" so a couple weeks later, we ended up back at the store and she bought me Sparkleworks too because she liked her that much. :P

As an adult collector, the first G1 I bought was a ff Minty. When I unwrapped her from her bubble mailer, I got a little teary eyed.

She has a very nice eye line, since I used make-up for some ponys and dolls on one carnival event but forgot to remove it in the evening - that's what happens when you go to bed with your make-up on, folks! You'll stay that way forever! :shocked: :P
The trace of nail polish on her hoof is from the Poof'n Puff Perfume Palace though. Apparently not fully removeable.
But I love her no matter what. Like Skeen said, memories of our adventures. :good:

I was in middle school at the time and somehow I had no idea up until that point that My Little Pony had ever made toys even though it had been my favorite show for as long as I can remember. *glares at mother* So I was absolutely giddy when I saw My Little Ponies in KB toys.

My first G1 purchase was actually a group of G1s and a carry case I bought from emery on ebay as Christmas present to myself. I totally cried when I got them. lol. I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it. They're like the "childhood" ponies I never had and I've kept all of them.

I think there were about 10 but I can only vaguely remember (Gypsy, Majesty, Confetti, Honeycomb and Strawberry Fair are the only ones I clearly remember but I know there were more). When I was about 13 my cousin had two little girls of her own who were the age I was when she gave them to me so I gave them back. Sadly they were thrown out at some point (I sincerely hope 'thrown out' equates to 'sent to charity shop'.)

Then four years ago I was feeling a bit down in the dumps so decided I'd try and look up the ponies I had from what I could remember. I never knew their names and just gave them my own names. One pony I really really wanted to find was 'Max', my favorite of the little herd. As it turned out, Max was actually Gypsy. I found one on ebay and bought her. So, as an adult Gypsy was my first pony :D

Sadly, she was accedintly left at the McDonalds playground. I recieved Heartthrob as a replacement and was taught how to braid her tail. Unfortunately, Hearthrob went missing later, possibly stolen. I still have the rest of my childhood herd, roughly 30 ponies between my sister and myself.

The earliest pony buying memory I have was when I got SS Lofty. I found her at a Salvation Army store when I was 4 or 5 years old (so this must have been like in 1989). I had to have her and gave her a special spot on my headboard that night. I can't recall if I already had the other aforementioned ponies when I bought her or if she was my first one.

My original Applejack was lost to the storm drains thanks to a neighbor girl. Talk about heartbroken. Did eventually replace her with the Applejack in the picture. I only collected ponies year 2-4 before I outgrew them :shocked:. I think I have a majority of my childhood ponies, but know I am missing Medley, Fizzy, Skydancer, Sprinkles, and Sparkler for sure.
