Title: Smelly So Soft
Post by: Sabrina on January 24, 2016, 06:30:36 AM
Hi,

I bought a So Soft Taffy the other day. She's in beautiful condition but she smells so bad! She's completely taken out my pony room and even the hallway outside the pony room. I'm not sure what the smell is, I don't think it's smoke....but I'm not sure.
I was wondering if anyone could give me advise on how to fix the smell?
Thanks! :)

I got one that smelled of smoke and feet. I washed her well in dawn and when she was dry I covered her in baking soda. After rinsing that off a day later, she didn't make my house smell bad anymore. Some smells are worse than others. Good luck!

Baking soda is your best bet especially with how delicate the SS flocking is.  I would stand her up in a little sealed plastic container of it and see how long it takes to get the smell to go away.  Kitty litter will also help - you can line the bottom of the container with one, then the other!

I'd also suggest a rotation of x days in soda box, x days outside to air out, repeat. Good luck! :)

:like:

This is what I use and it always works...although depending on the issue you can need a lot of repeat cycles.

I hope you get her all lovely soon.

Thank you everyone for your help! I've just put Taffy in a container with baking soda, so hopefully she will be less smelly soon. ^.^

Oh god, I literally had the exact same problem with the exact same pony! My Taffy reeked of cigarette smoke, and I kinda just left her off by herself and eventually the smell just faded away... It took over a year though.
