I have had this problem for a while now, and no matter what I do I can't get it to sort itself out.
My PM box says now I have 3 unread messages. I have none. It began with 1, and now it's slowly increasing. It's been going on since about September and every time I log onto the site, it gives me the PM popup which is inaccurate. It makes it hard to realise when I do have a message, too, as I always get that popup.
I had this on a different forum and there was a way around it, to clear the slate. I can't find a way to do that on here, though. My messages are all definitely read. Yesterday the issue went from telling me I had 2 PMs to 3 PMs even though I read AND REPLIED TO every PM I was sent last night. I looked but couldn't see a topic discussion on this.
Mods, if there is a fix or something, please help?

I know others have reported it. I'm not sure if anyone found a solution or not, you could try searching for other threads in this forum.
I think someone said clicking on/opening each individual message helped clear it for them.

I tried that, I tried replying to myself and sending myself a blank message as well (which fixed it on other site) but nothing has worked. Coming here is my last resort...
