Does anyone else find the Beddy Bye Eye ponies creepy? They're awful.
-
Yes, totally creepy. Still have two in my collection though.
-
Horribly creepy.
-
Lots of people do. I do. Lots of people love them too.
-
Super duper creepy. Which is a large part of why I like them.
-
I don't think they're creepy, although they are not my favorite baby type.
-
With the eyes open, they're kind of terrifying. But, tilt it over a little so that one eye is partially closed, and they look like they're drunk, which I find hilarious.
-
Very much so. There are some babies that I wish they made non-BBE, because I can't bring myself to add the BBE ones to my collection.
-
They're not my favorites, they are definitely creepy.
-
I had to agree not to keep any in the living room, if they are on my sale table they have to be behind someone else, as my guy and my 19 year old son are totally creeped out by them
-
Yep, definitely creepy. :yikes:
-
Creepy for sure. I'll loved them as a kid.
-
Even as a kid, I would look at the BBE Baby Heart Throb I had and be weirded out by her eyes.
Shameful confession: I only picked out Baby Heart Throb at the store so I could get her playpen and give it to Baby Moondancer.
-
Aside from Cuddles and Half Note, we never had them here, and so I never really thought about it as a kid.
I think, if the eyes go rusty, then they're creepy. Otherwise they're fine with me. I prefer the normal eye versions, but the BBE ones are fine. They just aren't ponies from my childhood so I don't have any scary memories of them. I never had Cuddles and my Half Note was regular eyed ;).
They're welcome in my cupboard :) Piggy ponies I find creepy, but BBE are generally ok.
But maybe that's partly because my first ever trade partner sent me Baby Shady to go with my childhood adult Shady as a sweet 16 birthday present in 1998, and so how could I not love her, rattly eyes and all?
-
I think they're creepy when their eyes get rusty :shiver:

I loved them as a child, now I am irritated that they get damaged so easily and that people find them creepy. :-p
-
I grew up with dolls that blinked, so they've never struck me as creepy. *shrugs*
-
Creepy? Eh, not really. Uncanny? Yes, and that's why I love them.
-
I found them very creepy at first but, now I love them. They grow on people like mushrooms.
-
I don't find them totally creepy but their eyes do put me off; the massive 'ridges' around the edges and the deeply set eyes are not particularly pleasant to look at! XD

Thankfully it;s less noticeable on the Unicorns than it is on the Earth and Pegasus baby ponies XD

It's a shame. I'd love to have Baby Lofty, Baby Half-Note and Baby Frosting, but those rusty, blinky dolls eyes...ugh! I guess I could always pay someone to de-BBE them and then TE them.
-
I think they look ill... But still oddly cute. They've grown on me.
-
I don't like them, don't own any, never will. Don't mind them De-BBE'D tho.
Jules x
-
I do find most of them very creepy! I don't like doll eyes anyways but for some reason the unicorns and Pegasus ponies don't bother me as much. I think baby frosting looks especially cute!
-
yes but some haven't been released in normal form so i will buy them although i wish i could aford to get 2 sets and make one NBBE customs :)
-
I'm thinking about replacing the eyes with something like glass eyes... though it would be done on a baity first
-
Nope! I had at least 5 as a child so they've been with me pretty much my whole life. Never found them creepy. I love them! I wish they weren't prone to rust!
-

Yeah, for some reason I think so, too, even though I prefer the normal baby unicorn pose. The BBE ponies really got the short end of the stick as far as a pleasing aesthetic design -- possibly if they looked more like other baby ponies they'd be cuter. They tend to be kind of skinny-looking in addition to having the non-pony-like eyes; it's especially noticeable on the BBE earth baby pose. Since I've held that view for a while, I was surprised when Baby Sleepy Pie began to grow on me. :) I like her, despite her not being objectively very pretty; I do like white and blue.
-
Not at all. I've got Baby Sundance in my collection, and I see little about her that I find unsettling.
-
With rusty eyes...yes...def...CREEPY!!!! ;) X
-
I don't find them creepy at all. They're definitely not my favorite but I still like the few that I own.
-
Yes, I don't have any for that reason! :nope:
-
The creepiest!
-
I like them and find them rather cute.
-
I actually think they're cute.
-
In my opinion: I they're not rusty they look pretty good IRL, but if you mess up the lighting while photographing them, then they look creepy. Any angle that puts shadows under the eye mechanism does this. I think that since online MLP collecting fandom is based on photography, this has a lot to do with people finding them so spooky. Personally, I don't.
They look cute when they're de-beddy bye eyed, too.
-
I dont think so much creepy...but they are perhaps in a category that only special people can love :P

Are you calling me creepy!?

Above pic was taken by accident, when I photographed my Baby Sundance and camera had completely wrong settings. In normal daylight, I don't find her a bit creepy. My Baby Sleepy Pie with rusted and malfunctioning eyes on the other hand, yes, she's a bit creepy, but I love her since she was my first baby pony (who was rescued from the flea market).

Eek!

OK, the mental image of mushrooms growing on people made me laugh. :silly:

This genuinely freaked me out when I first saw it!!!!

I think this needs to be some kind of "found footage" horror movie.
-
At first yep. After I got couple of them to my herd now I think they look pretty nice^^.
(except if you take creepy pics of them like Eurocoin did.. LOL :D)
-
I don't find them creepy (grew up with blinking dolls), but I personally don't find them aesthetically pleasing. Plus there are just too many other prettier ponies to collect with my limited funds lol
-
Nope, I love them. I had a ton when I was a kid!

yeah except they are like BBE's Mushrooms. I dont know if that creeps me out or not.

I think part of the reason the BBEs look creepy to a lot of people isn't just that they have blinking eyes, but blinking GLASS eyes. All the other ponies have painted, "cartoony" eyes, so the BBEs can seem very jarring and out of place with their glass "doll" eyes.
Lily Lightly has blinking eyes, but they look cartoony . . . a much better execution of the concept, IMO.

This for me... If they had regular pony eyes that blinked they would be very cute, but BBEs have the realistic "etched" look to the colour that makes it uncanny. Like someone took a real eyeball and crammed it in the socket. :X

Five Night's At Frosting's... yes. I absolutely have to draw that.

I adore them and I've never found them creepy...until I saw one with rusted eyes, that was just demonic!
