i am so sad right now
You and me both. *huggles* I don't really remember a time before I knew Bowie.
-
Truly a shame, especially since he's suppose to have a record release this month. I was very surprised when I saw the title of this thread.
-
I didn't own is albums but I grew up with the movie Labyrinth.   So unexpected....
-
The Labyrinth was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I wasn't a fan of his music but he did make an impression on me with his style. An Icon is gone, and so young. :(
-
Look up here, I'm in heaven
I've got scars that can't be seen
I've got drama, can't be stolen
Everybody knows me now
this was in his song lazarus on the blackstar album :(
-
Omg I'm like literally heartbroken right now..

I'm like.....a huge fan of him. The Labyrinth is one of my favorites and a huge chunk of my playlist is Bowie. His voice....it sounds like liquid butter to me. So sexy. It was on my bucket list to meet him....
-
Very shocked and saddened by this news. Am listening to Blackstar album right now. His death puts it in a whole new light.
LOVE Labyrinth, may watch it tonight if Aflame doesn't mind also.
Sad start to the year and makes you worry about who else we may lose this year :-(
-
What? No!
Love pkw xxx
-
So sad right now :( Blasting Space Oddity through the speakers atm
-
I enjoyed some of his music and the movie Labyrinth. I'll definitely have to give his new album a listen.
That new song of his, Lazarus, is pretty haunting...
-
I admire him so much for carrying on and not wallowing - it would have been so easy to do just that, as he was so ill. His new album was only released two days ago!
A truly sad day.
"I'm stepping through the door....."
-
I can't say I was ever a huge fan of his music - I liked Space Oddity, however, and found myself ironically listening to it more in the last couple of weeks. But songs like "Changes" and "Fame" I really don't care for in the least.
Nevertheless, that is far too young to pass away. I had heard something about him just having released an album, and it seems that is true. What a way to go out!
-
RIP to yet another Rock Legend.
-
It's heartbreaking. The Labyrinth is still one of my favorites. This is OT though, so lets try to make this a celebration of his life and not just sadness. A bit of sadness is ok, too, of course, and expected. But he was an amazing man who did amazing things, so I'm sure we can think about those, too.
-
Been drawing (and listening) since I heard the news:

An amazing musician with an amazing voice.
-
My idol left us... Im so sad right now... :ยด(
-
So sad- that is pretty awesome of him to have planned the album as a parting gift.
I've always loved David Bowie. I think he was the first really big star to play around with gender expression and still be regarded highly by the mainstream. He was a brilliant artist.
-
So unexpected...
-
Well, he will always be remembered for scaring the bejeevus out of me in the Labyrinth. I still don't understand how that is classified as a kids movie :/
He fought hard. Atleast he is at peace.
-

Same here. A true icon. :(
-
I heard very early this morning and was shocked and sad. They said it was cancer and he head been suffering with it for 18 months. I found from googling that a Dutch website said it was liver cancer but I don't know if there's an actual confirmation or not.
Yeah, I also grew up on labyrinth, one of my favorites. Now I don't think I can watch it the same anymore. :(
-
Yeah, someone texted me right after the news hit the press. I'm dealing with a lot of feelings right now. Maybe it's the stages of grief. I'm a little angry that some brilliant, amazing people die and barely anyone notices, but when David Bowie dies all of social media blows up. I know that's some irrational anger, but... yeah. I think most of us feel like we have a really personal connection with David Bowie and that's not likely a coincidence.
-
I was saddened to hear the news earlier today :( I really liked his music.
-
I've been crying all day because of it, his music helped me through a lot growing up and no one can ever replace the man that fell to earth
-
Very sad. He was hugely influential to me as a musician. RIP.
-
I am soooo heartbroken. I knew this day would come. But I didn't want it to come yet!
-
Been bummed all day. I'm just grateful I got to live in the same time as such a legend, and that he left us with many an amazing piece of art to remember him by.
-
It's so sad that he is gone. I grew up watching the Labyrinth, it was a big part of my childhood. At least he is no longer suffering. Cancer is such a horrible thing.
-
I have always been drawn to him. His style and his fearlessness in expressing himself was so admirable.
-
Very shocked I must say! Couldn't even find the words yesterday when I got the news! I think alot of people like him. He is very inspirational to so many musicians I think! Even Nirvana covered 'the Man who sold the world'! His songs are great fun to sing! Well certainly, stuff like 'Starman', 'Ashes to Ashes' & 'Space Oddity' are some of my favorites! And of course he had some very interesting images too.And of course I remember 'Labyrinth'!
-
OK maybe the celebration should begin. One of my favorite Labyrinth moments when Sara says "you're him aren't you...you're the goblin king." It's funny when I hear her say that I picture her saying, "you're him aren't you...you're david bowie."
I love this look:

I loved Bowie. I name my turtle Bowie after him when I was 10. :(
-
I don't know most of his music, but he'll always be the crazy guy from Labyrinth. It's truly a shame that life is so short.
