Sorry mods if this isn't the right place for this. I just kind of thought nirvana people might be the place to ask.
So I found this today.

It's head is total takara fakie. Same nose. Same eyes. Everything. But it's like it's a takara fakie trying to be a sweetie pup. It has a ring of hair all the way around it's back. It also has a plastic tail and stands on all four legs.
I'm currently in the process of trying to get as much of that scunge off her as I can. But if you would like to see more pics then that's cool.
I'm also not in love with here... So probably I'd end up selling. Do we have an idea on how much to ask? Anyone here need it? :P

Here's what I can tell you about her.
I found her at the Hannover Flea market in Germany last weekend in one of those boxes that you see at flea markets with a whole pile of scungy toys. I bought her with two G1 ponies.
She has no marks on her body indicating brand or when she was made.
Her body and head were glued on when I bought her, but the glue basically just let go when I put her in hot water. But her body colour and material matches her head so I don't think she is a weird toy hybrid made by a kid.
She is squishy, not hard.
Now she is by no means a perfect toy. She has ingrained dirt and/or staining from mold. She could definitely use a good oxy clean bath, but I have only been in Germany a month, and I leave at the end of the year, so I don't have a lot of cleaning supplies for ponies available to me. She has a big gouge on one foot. Her hair is a little fragile and does come out if you're too rough with the comb. Not as bad as some fakies, but still.

I must admit I find the fakies with hair all over kind of scary, but that's just me :blush:
On saying that, I'm curious to see what she looks like when she's cleaned up.

She's like a green/grey. Not the most attractive colour ever. But definitely in the green spectrum. She's also really squishy.
When she's done in the spa I'll make a little video so you can get a good look. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get her pristine. I am not in Germany for long, and I haven't been able to find magic erasers anywhere. So my pony cleaning tools are limited.

Though, given mine's plastic tail, I kind of think she's supposed to be a dog. She's a dog pony.
Oh and maycrestmom, I just had another look at her under a different light stand she looked blue. :/

Oh! WOW!! Such a cool find! Do you have better pics of it? I'd love to see the complete body. Is it the same size as the regular takara fakie? or is it much bigger?

She's just mid spa. In the head off letting the conditioner dry stage. But I promise that when she's all clean I'll take a bunch of new pics.
As for size, I haven't actually seen a takara fakie in person. But I think she is the same size as a regular fakie takara baby. I do have a photo I took of her with the other ponies I found yesterday... maybe that will help?

Sorry that I haven't taken any more photos yet. Feeling unwell, and so it's still just sitting there with conditioner in its hair and no head.

I am VERY interested. If you sell her, may I suggest putting her up for auction? I know a bunch of us would want her for sure, and with an auction you'll be sure to get a good price!

I think you are already in the My Little Phony group, but if not, this fakie is causing a great sensation! Congrats!! I don't think I could afford it, but I will closely follow the auction if you decide to sell.

Yes, I got approved today! I feel slightly overwhelmed. :shocked: I never expected this at all, and now I want to make sure that I do things both quickly and thoroughly so everyone can see what she is properly and has a chance to buy her.
I literally paid 1€ for her just because she looked weird. I nearly left her. Imagine if I left her behind!! :drunk:

What the actual heck???
I've heard of factories sticking mismatching heads on toys by mistake or in jest, but the head and the hair and the body look like they were all made for each other. That is nuts!! I can't believe we've never seen it before, either.
It is very different, therefore I am afraid of it. :P (Just kidding, little Ditzy Dog!)

If you have the time, could you take a picture with her head off? I skimmed through your TB video, but I don't think you popped it's head off.
Weird request, I know. But some of the fakie takara babies have different internal neck parts depending on who made them. So I'm just curious what this one looks like compared to others.

You should see if Tiella is interested in having her. She makes molds and casts them out of resin. She could probably also fix that gouge. I think it would be neat if more people had a chance to get their hands on at least a replica.

I agree :) The only downside is to make a mold all the hair would have to be removed, so the original would be destroyed a bit :(

I'd been following this thread before the new pictures were posted and WOW. This is an incredible find. :D Personally, I really hope it isn't dehaired for a mold... I hope whichever collector buys him/her will preserve it. I'd make an offer, but I know all the other Takara collectors will probably outbid me immediately lol.
This is one of the big reasons I adore fakies, though. Because there are always new ones popping up and it's impossible to document all of them. :)

The hair could always be replaced with fuller, higher quality hair. Original hair isn't as treasured on fakies.
If it goes directly to auction I imagine it's uniqueness will quickly put it out of my price range.

I think it would also be a shame to lose its original hair. As far as the entire condition of the toy goes, the hair and paint are the two best bits. I mean, who ever buys it can do whatever they want, and while I do think having a mould to make copies is a nice idea, it would be a shame to ruin the only original toy available to do that.

I do believe in its your pony,do what you want with it... However, its obvious this pony has really nice hair (a lot of times its brittle or broken). So it would be a real shame to destroy this unique pony to make a mold.
Why am I saying pony... It's a dog...
Anyway, I think if people are interested in a copy, then maybe 3d prints are the way to go. I have a few 3d printed takaras where the creator hadn't held the original... And they were impressive.

Is the mane 2 rows? Because LLL Silkypup looks like it has a mane going all the way down the back when the hair isn't styled right.

Waradah, it has 2 rows of plugs, so I guess you could be right. But it has a mane so much like a takara, same little fringe and everything. I just can't see its head as not a horse. That's just me though. :P

I love it when weird unique fakies show up. She is actually very cute. I wonder if she came with some kind of accessory originally, like a saddle or something. To me it kind of looks like something is missing that used to sit on her back.
What does her mane plugs look like? I know you said she has two rows of hair. But does she have those indent dots in the plastic that some takara babies have? They are traces of the plug holes from the genuine Takara baby they used to make the fakie mold I think.

I don't think that's what those indents are... (they don't quite match up to the originals). I think that they are indications where the workers were supposed to put the hair on the fakies, and then didn't always put the hair there.

There does seem to be a couple of faint spotty lines that might be what you're talking about. They're pretty far from where the actual hair is though. About a centremetre off.

That's okay, $50 was really my limit and I still tried going over it lol. XD A part of me is relieved though, it means more funds for christmas shopping next month. ^.^ I hope whoever won is thrilled!

Yes! I found one today at a X-mas market! I couldn't believe it. I was looking through the bags and I saw a takara baby head, I took it, and imagine my face when I see that the body was full of hair! I have cleaned it and I hope I can post pics tomorrow. ^^

What's weird though is that neither were in good condition, nor have any been found new. I mean mine was in a box of really scungy 80s and 90s toys. The only other ponies in the box were g1 mlp.
It's a mystery. That's for sure.

I don't even know that much about takaras or takara fakies... I think I know more about the real ones. :P I'm lucky enough to own a pinkish fakie with blue hair though. ^.^ I would love to know how and when the fakies were made and what countries they were sold in... I've seen photos of a MIB takara fakie packed with another fakie (I think crumpet?) that might have been found in a store somewhere more recently...
Basically, do we know if there are still places in the world making takara fakies of any sort?
