I went pony hunting with my family today at a local flea market. There were tons of G3s, but I'm only interested in G1. After walking around for about two hours I found a Raincurl in a basket of McDonald's toys. She has beautiful curls, but there is a lot of dirt and marker and stuff on her body. I've never rehabbed a pony before, but I want to try. She was only $.50 so I figured it was worth trying to save her.
I will take photos in a bit and add them to this post. I'm so excited to start my herd. :D
ETA: Now that I look at her, she may have some mold spots. I have no idea how to go about fixing this pony. I guess it's time to explore the cleaning threads here.

Congrats at finding your new beauty

She sounds like a great potential restore project. There are plenty of tips on cleaning in the Pony Corral. Make sure you take a pic of her as you found her so you can show us how well she came up. :D :D

Sorry that this photo is so big! The stuff on her face seems to be the worst of it, but the possible mold spots concern me. I took more photos but it started to rain so I'm going to try to get better ones for cleaning advice another time. It looks like someone tried to outline her iris with pen when the paint started wearing, too. I REALLY want to fix her up!

Look at those beautiful curls! *_*
For deeper dirt and more stubborn marks, I always use Magic Eraser, it's amazing :) You have to be very careful with it over blush and paint, though, as it's an extremely fine sandpaper, basically. For paint and nail varnish and other things I think *might* come off, I'll give them a gentle swipe with nail varnish remove to see if that works. Otherwise sun fading is your best bet!
Have fun, though, it's SO satisfying when you restore them :D

I'm so glad you found a G1 at the flea! :frolic: :newpony:

Congrats! Glad she's on her way to being all pretty again! :)

She has such a lovely unfaded pink curl and great curls in general! As far as cleaning, have you given her body a quick preliminary cleaning with dish soap? I'm wondering if that would get the main mark on her face off, with just some gentle rubbing. If that fails, you can get more intense ^.^ Congrats on your find!
Edit: And if you'd like to read up on pony cleaning and restoration, here's one of the more popular websites: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/index.html
If you're new to cleaning and restoring, though, you might want to start an advice thread in the corral

Congrats! It's so nice to find G1 loose. I wonder what her travels have been like?

Congrats!

I think it took me three tries to find a Rainbow Cloud (UK name for her) in decent condition, and yours is definitely better than the first two I had! For some reason people like to cut or brush out their hair :-/. Congrats on your find :D

Congrats! Best of luck restoring her! I know you'll do great!

Congrats! She is one of my favorite ponies! And her curls look great! I can't wait to see her restored!
