Hi there! Welcome to the Arena Official Holiday Custom Swap! Come join us for some glittery Holiday fun! The ponies for this swap will be themed to anything to do with the Holidays or winter. Please keep your partner's interests and likes in mind when you are creating your custom, other than that the sky is the limit. You many choose between two categories; Classic Ponies or Ponies Plus. A description of the categories can be found below. So get to reading the rules and filling out your forms if you want to play in this year's reindeer games!

Rules:
1. You must have 10 positive Arena feedback and no negative Arena feedback. At least 5 of those feedback need to be for selling or trading.
2. You must have been an Arena member for at least 6 months before sign ups are over.
3. You must have pictures of at least 3 of your most recent customs to show the quality of your work. This is a skill based swap and we need to know where to put you.
4. Ship on time! We realize real life issues come up sometimes. If this happens, We want to know about it as soon as you realize you will be late.
5. No shipping early! We will be withholding addresses until shipping time to prevent this. The exception will be after final check in and your partner is ready to ship as well. We don't want anyone disappointed in this swap, so it's best for everyone to hold off until we are sure their partners haven't disappeared.
6. Be prepared with progress pics during progress dates. If you are without letting us know beforehand, you WILL be pulled.
7. Send us pictures of your completed custom before you ship. We want to know your custom is complete before it goes out.
8. Let us know right away when you ship your pony and when you receive one.
9. Do not let anyone know who your partner is. It is secret.
10. Extras are required. Around $5 of holiday gifts/treats should be included.
11. This swap includes all generations of ponies (G1, G2, G3, G3.5, and G4), if there are any of these you do not like, include that in your form. Do not use any fakies unless your partner requests it.
12. You must be in no more than 2 other custom swaps (total of 3).
13. The title of your PM should be "Holiday Swap Rudolph", so we know you read the rules. If the title of your pm is not right, you will not be added to the sign up list.
14. PM the sign up form to us (CustomSwap (http://mlparena.com/index.php?action=profile;u=6054)) by the sign up deadline. We will do our very best to get partners out on or before the October 27.
15. You must check in with pictures for the final check in 1 week before shipping. If you do not check in, you will not be receiving a pony.
16. KEEP YOUR SHIPPING RECEIPTS! You need to be able to produce proof of shipping when asked. You need to hold onto your receipt until your partner confirms that they have received their pony. We also highly recommend delivery confirmation for those not shipping internationally.
17. IF AT ANYTIME YOU DO NOT ABIDE BY ANY OF THESE RULES, YOU WILL BE PULLED FROM THE SWAP. This includes, but is not limited to, missing check ins and sharing partners. Make sure you are familiar with the rules before you sign up. You are expected to follow them.

Classic Pony Swap - This category is for customizers who appreciate the traditional custom pony. Most customs in this grouping will be kept fairly simple with a few minor embellishments such as jewels, small accessories and simple wings. The end result is up to you.
Ponies Plus Swap - Get creative, this category is where you can get a little crazy. Be prepared for sculpting, sewing or intricate paintwork.

Yay! I love my partner's interests and I already have some clear ideas forming! Super excited! I'm starting to feel Christmasy and may make a Pinterest board to show my atheistic preferences for all the Christmas swaps. (But it's of course, it's fine if you already have an idea and want to go for it before I do so, partner.)

Perhaps you could try a private swap? Last year I didn't have enough to be in the Halloween swap, so I put out a request and had an absolutely amazing time. I didn't think of trying a private swap, but when I lamented I didn't have enough feedback yet, someone made the suggestion.

Okay- a couple questions :D
Would you be okay with your custom having a base? How do you celebrate the holidays? What is your favorite thing to do at this time? Do you have a Christmas tree? If so, how do you decorate it, does it have a theme? If you don't feel comfortable sharing, that's okay! But if you don't mind my nosiness, I'd love to know more about how you celebrate the season. Do you celebrate Christmas, Yule, Hanuka, Kwanzaa, Non-Religious secular general celebration?
As for me,
I am totally fine with a base for the custom to sit on.
We aren't religious in my house so we do a more secular celebration. Our winter holiday involves FOOD, lots of it :yummy: We go to Michigan to my husband's family for Christmas Eve dinner and have a big dinner on Christmas day at home. Leading up to the season we bake a lot, especially gingerbread and Christolen bread. My family was Sweedish so bread and coffeecake spiced with cardamom and coffee is a must.
We also do a lot of hiking this season. Winter hikes are the best, if you're bundled up. Especially if you bring coco in a thermos :awake: We always watch Charlie Brown's Christmas and Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer (my daughter's favorite!).
We often do an advent calendar of some kind leading up to the winter solstice. We do the solstice because, since we aren't religious and don't celebrate Christmas per se, we wanted a holiday that was an observable natural phenomenon. One year I did one with 25 days of science for my daughter- with each day having a different science experiment to do together or science related small gift. We also decorate our tree in science related things- colored microfuge tubes, pipe cleaner ornaments like atoms and other things my daughter made and then soaked in borax solution to make crystalline (it's a fun experiment I can post if you want!) and make the season a kind of celebration of science. Sounds really random I know, but we are huge geeks and just love it :D Before I moved and had more room, we also had a pony room tree but living in a smaller apartment there just isn't room this year- so sad.

Sure! I slightly prefer the pony to not have a base or a small base, but I have made customs that required a base, and I understand they can be necessary (especially with lights) or really add to the overall look.
How do you celebrate the holidays? What is your favorite thing to do at this time?
I try to engage in as many traditions as possible! I start by watching classic Christmas movies and listening to classic Christmas songs before the season really starts. I think about what to get the people closest to me for Christmas really early and get really excited for their Christmas lists (most of the people close to me wouldn't make Christmas lists if not for my instance, but they told me they've come to enjoy it :lol:). My husband and roommates always guilt me in to waiting to decorate till after Thanksgiving, but I pretty much decorate the day after. I really get into decorations and the spirit of Santa! It takes me about two full days to decorate, and I'm always watching movies or listening to music while doing it. Once the decorating is done, I relax and take in the lights and baubles! I like to go around town looking for lights later in the season, and head back to my hometown where a whole neighborhood in a nearby town is decked out in lights. My job takes me all around my city, so I have great opportunities to see many light displays. If I get the money saved up, this is my favorite time to visit Disney World where the Osborne Festival of Lights (this is the last year :sad:) and the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party contribute to some of the best days of my life! I also love Christmas shopping for my loved ones and the energy of the hustle and bustle of all the people out shopping. I make careful plans to wow my loved ones and give them something they weren't expecting but absolutely love (my favorite part!). I also craft a lot during the holidays, making gifts for others or decorations. Every year I do a Christmas theme with my pony display. A manger scene and a Santa scene always shows up, but I add other different scenes every year (I've had Trixie and Sunset Shimmer as Snow and Heat Miser, Chrysalis and Winona as the Grinch who stole Christmas, and who knows what I will add this year!). In someways, I try to be as much like Santa as possible and bring joy to as many people as I am able.

Yes! I would be so depressed if I went a year without my tree. In fact, January is so hard for me because taking it down is devastating. My tree reaches the ceiling; is very realistic; has options for white lights, colored lights, or twinkling lights back and forth between colored and white; and sits on a spinning tree stand with a fairly decent weight capacity. The tree is the centerpiece and will be were all the gifts sit under, so it has to be the best! It doesn't really have a theme since I like so many ornaments. All of my ornaments have a bit of a special meaning for me; maybe they represent a character I love, a place I've been, or something I've done, or maybe they were a special gift from someone. Due to the variety that brings, there are all kinds of colors, but I have a gold star, thick, fluffy gold tinsel, and a red tree skirt (safe for the kitties to lay on). My tree used to be overloaded with ornaments, but with this new big tree I bought last year at Black Friday. they fit nicely (in my opinion, but others say it is overloaded :lol:). I also have a mini Christmas tree that is themed with blue and silver ornaments used at my wedding where I put tags of well wishes made my guests. Yes, I love Christmas so much, that I decided to use a winter wonderland/Christmas theme for my Wedding where we used hundreds of paper snowflakes. Such a theme means that my mom buys almost anything with snowflakes as gifts to me. :biggrin:

I mostly celebrate Christmas in a secular fashion. Some people hate how marketed it is, but actually, I kind of love it. I used to be religious as a child, so I still incorporate elements like Nativity scenes with much love every year. I also am often tempted to go to my old church to sing Christmas songs unaccompanied by candlelight on Christmas eve, but I don't usually do so due to the religious intent of it. I also love imagery from other religious aspects, but don't have anything to represent them in my home.

Checking in- got my custom bait prepped, hair picked out and am just waiting on supplies to come from Amazon to go further. They are supposed to be here Friday. Amazon has really slow shipping now. I used to be able to get things in a few days with the free shipping, now it takes over a week :-/

Yes. No real theme to it except that a lot of the ornaments are from things we like or those that I got in swaps here at the arena.

Mostly secular. Not really religious here but we do like to see and participate with our friends' celebrations too.

Ummmm..... Normal? LOL I'm not sure how to answer this! We put up a tree. We hang stockings. We exchange gifts. Everything in the house is made sparkly and/or blinky. We ride around town looking at lights. I drink lots of cocoa and eat lots of candy canes. Oh, and I adore shopping with all the Christmas crazy going on. Black Friday and Christmas Eve are my favorite days to "shop". Ok, we don't buy anything, but I like being out among the insanity..... Oh and Christmas movies and music constantly. I really love the old Rankin Bass doll movies and The Santa Clause.
What is your favorite thing to do at this time? Ummmmm....... Everything!!! If I had to pick one thing though, it's probably looking at lights.

Yes, I just got her Wednesday! Thank you so much! I love her little horns, her ribbon, and her cute friends! So cute and Christmasy. I was sick off work that day, and it was a nice cheer up surprise.

I got my custom swap today from Kaoskat and I love Silent Night and Gingerbread Lane. The level of detail in her symbol is incredible and the Christmas lights on the base are a sweet touch! I love the gradient dye job on her hair too. She's awesome! I'm going to take her to the lab next week to put with my winter ponies holiday display :D The little ornament pony Gingerbread Lane is adorable too. We already got into the chocolate with jerky which my husband all but stole from me lol Midi, my daughter, said "it's strange but fabulous." I love strange combos like that! Midi also loved and was very appreciative for the Swedish Fish and the Frozen Jellybellies. We can't wait to get into the hot coco tonight after dinner.

Granate sent me the most amazing custom! The box was squashed and hanging open when I picked it up from the post office this morning and I was not too pleased but once I got it open the pony was still safe and it doesn't seem like anything had fallen out. I was rather impressed she managed to pack it to survive whatever crazy adventure it went through in the postal service. But anyway, the pony is so amazingly me! I just adore her to bits! And I don't think granate could have known this, she just speaks Spanish so that's what she used, but I'm currently trying my best to learn it so having a little pony with Spanish books is so perfect! And so is the Christmas card in half English and half Spanish! Thank you so very much!

International packages pass through many hands and people treat them so badly, I always use much bubble wrap to wrap my customs,for that reason they arrived safe and sound!!!!!.
I was afraid because some candy would make you feel bad because you have allergies so I thought of other extras for you.
I know you're learning Spanish so I write to you the letter in Spanish and then, I translated it in English.
The post office always plays football with boxes LOL (It´s a joke).
When I have to send a package, I do it, certificate, I know it's more expensive but it is best for the package because it doens´t lost.

Woot! I checked the tracking on the custom I sent my partner and it looks like it was delivered the 22nd. I hope it got there safely. It's always nerve wracking sending delicate customs through the post.
