I'm calling this one complete now. It's all ready for the meet.

Ok I've had more than a year to complete a painting for the door prize for the MI Meet - which is next Saturday... Did I ever mention I'm very bad with deadlines....

Needless to say it's three days  before the meet and I still don't have one completed.

I had two WIP paintings that I pulled out this morning with hopes of completing one of them.

This is the one that I've been working on most of this morning.

problem is I'm still not completely happy with how dark the background is but I'm not sure how to fix it without ruining the whole nighttime feel.

Opinions helpful tips? I only have a couple more days..

The other WIP which that I have is this one

They are both so nice!! Can't wait to see them in person :D

For the night sky, could you maybe highlight the outline of the trees in the background? Not really bright, but just enough to lighten it a bit? I dunno...I don't want to suggest something then it only makes it worse!!

The moondancers are actually glowing thats their unicorn power if you read the stories. I might fidle with it a bit more.

Great WIPs! I'm sure you can make the first one even better with some minor adjustments. What it currently lacks is depth and that can be remedied by adding more contrast between the foreground and the background. I agree on brightening up the foreground a bit, and I suggest making the grass further back a shade or two lighter as well to create some definition between the grass and the trees. The ponies themselves could use some shadowing; that will help you keep the nighttime feel even if you lighten up some of the surroundings. And finally, for the glowing look: I would tone it down a bit (I don't know how to explain this... make the radius smaller? Perhaps radius is not the correct word but I hope you get what I mean, to make the glow a bit less obvious). To compensate, you could go over the black lineart with white or light grey/blue. That should add to the glowing look and help differentiate the ponies from the Glory family.

As for the second one, I don't have any specific suggestions at this point, I think you're doing great!

My, this is gorgeous! You're excellent when it comes to G1 box art style. Great work.

The night sky drawing is beautiful...its a shame Glory did not have the same power as Moondancer as the glowng effect is especially pretty on the ponies.
