Hi there! Welcome to the Arena Official Halloween Custom Swap! Come join us for some spooky Halloween fun! The ponies for this swap will be themed to anything to do with Halloween. Please keep your partner's interests and likes in mind when you are creating your custom, other than that the sky is the limit. You many choose between two categories; Classic Ponies or Ponies Plus. A description of the categories can be found below. So get to reading the rules and filling out your forms my little spooks and creepy critters! :jack:

Partners: September 14th or September 15th the latest
Check In: September 25th

Rules:
1. You must have 10 positive Arena feedback and no negative Arena feedback. At least 5 of those feedback need to be for selling or trading.
2. You must have been an Arena member for at least 6 months before sign ups are over.
3. You must have pictures of at least 3 of your most recent customs to show the quality of your work. This is a skill based swap and we need to know where to put you.
4. Ship on time! We realize real life issues come up sometimes. If this happens, We want to know about it as soon as you realize you will be late.
5. No shipping early! We will be withholding addresses until shipping time to prevent this. The exception will be after final check in and your partner is ready to ship as well. We don't want anyone disappointed in this swap, so it's best for everyone to hold off until we are sure their partners haven't disappeared.
6. Be prepared with progress pics during progress dates. If you are without letting us know beforehand, you WILL be pulled.
7. Send us pictures of your completed custom before you ship. We want to know your custom is complete before it goes out.
8. Let us know right away when you ship your pony and when you receive one.
9. Do not let anyone know who your partner is. It is secret.
10. Extras are required. Around $5 of Halloween candy/treats should be included.
11. This swap includes all generations of ponies (G1, G2, G3, G3.5, and G4), if there are any of these you do not like, include that in your form. Do not use any fakies unless your partner requests it.
12. You must be in no more than 2 other custom swaps (total of 3).
13. The title of your PM should be Spooktacular, so we know you read the rules. If the title of your pm is not right, you will not be added to the sign up list.
14. PM the sign up form to us (CustomSwap) by the sign up deadline. We will do our very best to get partners out on or before the August 12.
15. You must check in with pictures for the final check in 1 week before shipping. If you do not check in, you will not be receiving a pony.
16. KEEP YOUR SHIPPING RECEIPTS! You need to be able to produce proof of shipping when asked. You need to hold onto your receipt until your partner confirms that they have received their pony. We also highly recommend delivery confirmation for those not shipping internationally.
17. IF AT ANYTIME YOU DO NOT ABIDE BY ANY OF THESE RULES, YOU WILL BE PULLED FROM THE SWAP. This includes, but is not limited to, missing check ins and sharing partners. Make sure you are familiar with the rules before you sign up. You are expected to follow them.

Classic Pony Swap - This category is for customizers who appreciate the traditional custom pony. Most customs in this grouping will be kept fairly simple with a few minor embellishments such as jewels, small accessories and simple wings. The end result is up to you.
Ponies Plus Swap - Get creative, this category is where you can get a little crazy. Be prepared for sculpting, sewing or intricate paintwork.

so so so tempting... havent signed up for a swap in ages so this might be just what i need to get out of my customizing rut, hubby is starting chemo in a week or two so i may need the distraction... ill have to think on it, usually prefer a longer working time so i can get my fires stoked...

I don't dislike any poses, per se, but I'm not as fond of the Collector Pose. I love my bald and blank Butterscotch but I do think she looks kinda odd. ^^;

Im beginning to get the first seeds of an idea. Poking around online now for further inspiration.
***Bait im not too fond of (g3) : Donkey, Pinkie Pie Walking, Broken Neck, Sunny Daze, "Core" poses are kind of chunky and bland imo. (G1) : Collectors Pose, Tootsie, earlier molds that seem kinda flat... like Moondancer, Glory, Firefly... etc.
***And the reverse side... poses you love: (g3) : Gem Blossom, January Carnation, Kimono, Periwinkle, Valenshy, Sweet Breeze, Diva, Beachberry, Rarity, Whistle Wishes (G1) : Fizzy, Scoops, Lofty, Heart Throb, Powder, Gusty, Big Brothers, original baby poses and newborns =)
(Lately the custom side of my collection has been drifting toward g3 but if you have a taste for g1 or 4 run with it!)
***Bases are fine as long as theyre not too large, only have one shelf in the display case for customs currently.
***I love sparkles when they fit the character so go to town with glitter as long as its not gonna shed or feel like sandpaper. =)
I'll try to keep this post updated (or i may copypaste the info to page 1, not sure yet. Coffee will decide for me) with all the answers so youll be able to find it later partner.

O no... i think i have an idea... im trying to resist it tho. I wanted to do something easy darnit haha. Nope. Gonna be stupid about it. Either itll be a trainwreck or itll raise the bar on awesome and ridiculous.
Time to quit all of my hobbies. Its become obvious to me im not to be trusted with them!

base is fine - I've gotten some neat ones - but don't feel you have to
glitter: I like and use the glitter paint, which doesn't shed or feel/look bad. I'm ok with that kind. glue+loose glittter? no thank you.

1. Poses? Don't really have any non favorites, maybe one with a profile and not looking straight ahead.
2. Base? If you want, but it doesn't need one.
3. Glitter? Not loose, but well sealed or glitter paint is fine.
4. Creepy/Gory? I am fine with it.

I know what I want to do; have a couple of baits to work with... but it looks like I'm fresh out of acetone :( I'll have to make a stop at the store after work tomorrow. Tore the whole house apart looking for it, so now I have to clean instead of custom. :P

A small base would be fine.
I like shiny but glitter is seldom truly tamed... though a little never hurts. ;)
I've the start of an idea of what to do but I keep going through my baits and wondering if I can actually do any of the things running through my head... :dizzy:

I love this swap and contemplated joining but with all the chaos and
Ack of time I've had with my hubby's recovery and new crap at work I figured it was better to sit it out then risk rushing or not putting my everything into something and having a disappointed partner, good luck everyone can't wait to see what y'all come up with!

How creepy or gory would you find acceptable for your pony? As I've been working I've released I could add some good creepy elements, but I'm not sure how much my partner would like that.
Answers from me:
Poses? N/A since I am asking for G4. If only there were more poses!
Base? I would prefer not to have one, but if it would work with your idea, please feel free to go for it
Glitter? Sure! (Please try to make it so not much comes off though.)
Creepy/Gore? It would depend on the idea, I think, but I am not opposed. I do appreciate those elements as representations of Halloween, so if it matches the idea, sure.

It's not really my thing usually but I don't mind it. If you want to and think it will look awesome go ahead! I like when my partners have fun and try new things!

I don't mind creepy (sometimes it's really fun to have something scary) but I can't stand even cartoony gore. I have too much family in the medical field (who still leave nasty continuing ed. journals lying about) and my brain fills in all of the details whether I want it to or not. :cry:

I got some painting done. started yesterday, still needs more paint before i call it done. need to decide what colors for hair to use.

Ooooo cutting it close! Got a decent amount done yesterday, and im off again today, ima try to knock out another big chunk of sculpting. All i need to do today is hit the grocery store and take Mr. Elu to the hospital for some test for his white blood count, which shouldnt take long. Then hopefully the whole day will be all pony butchery and coffee. Hope hope hope to finish the sculpting in 4 or 5 more sessions.

Still finishing up the sculpting. Forced to do a little bit at a time to keep bits from sagging. This project is gonna wipe out most of my remaining magic sculpt! Hope you have a mostly empty shelf, partner!

I hope to finish sculpting today so I can get base coats of paint on before my trip (I will be on travel friday, sat, sun, and return monday morning after a red-eye flight). I'll be cutting it close to finish on time, but I KNOW my partner will love it :)

Have maybe 3 more days of sculpting ahead of me. Have to let it sit between each final thing im doing now to keep the whole bloody thing from sagging. Lol wanna finish all of it in one session but its too much of a risk... lousy gravity...so if all goes well im hoping to start priming and basecoating friday. Gonna start on extras thursday prolly.

Something partially broke during head reattachment... a piece fell off while fixing that... and now I'm partially redoing something else because I like things to match from one side of a pony to the other. :pout: But I'm all in all delighted with my pony and am almost done even with all of the hiccups. I'll buy extras later in the week. ^.^

Had company over yesterday so didnt get any work in then. But have it all figured out, short sculpting sessions today and tomorrow then scrubbing, priming, and sanding on saturday!

ugh.... it is either the needles fault for being a bit thicker than my last one or that i baked the pony which closed the holes that is causing the paint to pucker and peel off. grrrr.... so when i am done rehairing the mane, i am going to have to touch up all those spots carefully not to get paint one the hair. stupid!
edit: i finished the hair. i just need to trim it and style it, maybe, and touch up those spots with paint and it will be done.

Had to do some reinforcements to stressed sculpting so a bit behind again. Doin the last sculpted feature today then spot checking tomorrow for other weak areas before moving on to paintwork. Better safe than sorry.

I just opened my gorgeous pony from Okami_Amaterasu!!! <3 She is perfect the paint work and colors are amazing!! *currently eating one of my goodies*

I mailed to my partner last week. On Friday Oct 23rd, USPS attempted delivery. Tracking says "Notice Left (No Secure Location Available)"
Hopefully my partner got the notice and will pick up the package in the next couple days.

I hope this isn't me. :lookround: I didn't get a notice, but my post office has been so irresponsible a couple of times in the past, and this sounds like something they would do. I suppose I should try to call them tomorrow, just in case?

Sorry for the stress roogna, i picked it up from the PO saturday before work and didnt have time to post yet. Waiting in the hospital for the nurse to come hook the hubby up to his pump so making use of their free wifi to tag you back.
Omg i love love love my japanese jitter ghoulie ghostie bride. Thank you so much shes beautiful! I love her dainty tail, the kimono, and the fact you worked in skeleton keys and kitsunes! Shes perfect and just the pick me up i was hoping for. The hubby cracked up at the langolier baby! Itll be perfect next to the adult i was planning on making! (My aunt replied on FB "poor baby... being eaten by bugs..." i didnt have the heart to tell her they were chainsaw mouthed interdimensional bowling balls from hell. =P
The candy is delicious and is almost gone already lol!
As to the custom im shipping, im trying to get it in the mail today after his radiation if the PO is still open, if not then tomorrow for sure. So sorry for the delay, partner! I hope its worth the wait!

I put a lot of bubles Paper wraping the box and inside of the box was the custom.I am glad it because my package arrived safe and sound.
I couldn' t put the box inside another box because the shipping cost were very expensive.

Yay!! I'm so glad she arrived and safety! Her hair glows in the dark! Normally I try to cut and style it, but I know you wanted it long, so I just left her be. I had a lot of fun making her and her scythe! Will make a post soon.

She arrived today! She looks great!! Her handle on her candy basket broke, but it was easy to repair. Thank you for all the treats we don't have here in the US! I never thought I would try a Kinder Egg in my life!

I forgot to mention the white hair her eyes and the stuff in her cauldron and potions glow in the dark. But they probably need charging in the light.
