I'm feeling nostalgic today. I'm rembering late 1990's and early 2000's and pony hunting at thrift stores, antique malls and flea markets and really am missing the days of coming home with 10+ g1 ponies.
It got me thinking it's been very hard for me to find anything in the wild. I often come home empty handed. So I want to know: Who and when was your last g1 wild find!?
Mine was in January a bbe baby heart throb for $1.50 at a flea market. I had to buy her because it had been so long since I've seen a g1 in the wild! Recently I saw a few g1s at an antique mall priced at $25 a piece they were: Sky flier, blossom, sundance, medly and windy. All whom I passed on for that price.

I found the Perfume Puff Palace with some accessories and the never looked at instructions/some pamphlet in Good Will in January.
Before that, probably last summer, I found a box of g1s at a flea market, there were probably 10 or so of them in there, including Baby Lucky who I hadn't had.

Last week I found walking pose Confetti, NC Sundance and baby Surprise at a thriftstore forr €0,25 each

My last G1 find was last week on a local fleamarket. Well it wasnt a pony but a hair accessories from one of the Pretty Up sets <3
The last G1 ponies I found were Dancing Butterflies and Baby Brightbow, it was in may I think... or maybe june.

Oh man, how I miss the late 90's-early 2000's for pony hunting as well! I found SO MANY G1s like all the time, for super cheap, too. The vast majority of my 300+ G1 collection came from that time. I have bought very few online.
Anyway, I was super lucky back in March of this year when I found these two at a thrift store for about $3 each:

I have found 9 G1 ponies at that same shop over the last two years. That's pretty good odds for a thrift shop these days I think. :)

My last find was pretty recent! I found a flower pony. I'm not too sure where she's from, but I know she's called Bluebell and she's a pink pegasus. I got her with a bunch of G3's and G4's for £8. It was quite a good deal for the amount of ponies.
Before that the last G1 find was a small bundle, starshine, who was sunburnt, baby tiddley-winks and boysenberry pie. I kept boysenberry pie and gave the other two to my sister. It was a while ago, I'm not too sure when.

I got a bag full of ponies for a few dollars last time I went out to the flea market :)

I think they come and go in waves. During the last few years, there were lots of G3s and G4s at flea markets, but the last two years, I was more successful.

I'm absolutely in love with Glory whom I found a year ago :) I'm definitely going hunting again next sunday, and I can't wait for it!
I guess it just depends on little girls growing up and getting rid of their ponies - it's the ciiiiircle of liiiife...

I found Twisty Tail and Peachy (of course) last weekend at a thrift store. I saw Peachy first and as it had been a while since I'd found G1s, I decided to grab her anyway. Then I saw Twisty Tail's hair!
I too miss the days where I could go to a flea market and buy a ton of ponies and then have to hope the ones I couldn't afford would still be there after my next payday :lol:
The vast majority of my 300+ G1 collection came from that time. I have bought very few online.
My collection is the same! Until I joined the Arena, I had found all of my ponies locally except for about 5 early eBay purchases. I still only upgrade ponies if I find them locally or if it's a trade.

A couple of weeks ago, I found Up, Up, And Away and Windy the unicorn at my local flea market. I got them both for a $1.

I found Slugger this summer at a flea market. Unfortunately he has some mold spots :( It was the first boy pony that I've ever seen in person.
Last year at the same flea market I found a plush Starshine and she was in awesome condition!
I am envious of those that find a box of ponies or multplie ponies. I never seem to find that many unless I am at a toy show. I rarely find any in the wild anymore. I used to find some at Goodwill many years ago, but now I never find any there. I feel like everyone has already gotten rid of their 80's toys or realized that they have value and put them on ebay. I miss finding things in the wild.

I think my last one was a (now deflocked) SS Angel. There's also two playsets probably still sitting around at the place I found her (I took all the ponies but I don't have room for the playsets). I can't remember when exactly it was but I think it was earlier this year!

My boyfriend found a big bag of G1 Sugarberry, creamsickle, repro parasol.
The last one I found was in january it was a purple Enber
At goodwill, past that no luck.
They are so hard to find anymore!!
I think my best luck ever in history was when I found a okely in a craigslist lot along with 45 other mlps! Whooo!! I was so happy I was nearly crying felt so blessed! That was 4 years ago..

Urgh I can't really remember what my last G1 find was! I've had a handful of G2 onwards or bits of accessories in various shapes. I guess my last G1 would be from very early this year, or possibly mid-last-year when I found some at an antique fair?
I was never of the generation that got multiple G1s at thrift/charity/etc sales though my childhood ponies are mostly second hand, so must have come from there (and I still have them). I would have been far too young to click about Ponies - especially when my parents and family focused on getting me dolls!
.. And I still played with the LEGO and the Ponies more than them..

I think my most recent G1 find was those two plushes, Bluebelle and Cotton Candy, which I got for £6.

I think finding G1s just varies from time to time, like last year I could find bundles of G1s but recently I can only find one or two, if I'm lucky.
For me the hardest Generation to find is G4, so far I've only found; 2 ponies, the apple truck and a plush.

Sounds like we need to move to Europe to find ponies :)
The last in the wild find for me would have to be "breyerfest" this year. Flat Foot Snuzzle, $10. Found in a second hand store? January 2013 - Sundance, Windy, Moonstore, maybe sunlight and a few other of the early ponies. Left them behind b/c I had them and didn't want to bring them to Barbados with me
Found in Barbados? none. There's only two second hand stores here, one is a consignment shop, and the other is a true second hand store for those who need it.

I've only recently got into the habit of going antiquing, and the last time I went to an antique mall with my mom and her friend, I saw a few G1 Ponies -- Windy, Heart-throb and a baby pony (don't remember the name) -- that looked like they needed some serious spa treatment. Forgot what the prices were for them, but I decided to pass on them.

Wow, you all have made some nice finds! I haven't found a G1 in the wild since last autumn at a flea market - I found SS Posey, Baby Stockings, Starshine, and Yum Yum. The thrift stores around here usually have zero ponies and even the flea markets are usually just G3s.

I found some g1 brushes last week, but the last g1 ponies I found was last month: a really baity Starflash and one of the Dream Beauties (Srar Gleamer, I think; the pink sparkly one.). For $1.50 each, I bought them. :)

Dream Gleamer I think is the pink sparkly Dream Beauty? That's an nice find though :D Congrats :D
The last wild G1 ponies I found were at the toy fair in June, which were the two MOC sea pony babies. I did see a CP Bow Tie there too for £7, which I left behind. Otherwise, nothing...although our local carboot sale no longer runs so I don't get a lot of chances to go look any more.

My friend found about 60 G1s at the flea market a couple of years ago. She called me up and said she wasn't sure if they were actual MLP or fakies. I told her to describe one and she said, "a white pegasus with pink hair and candy all over her" OMG Yum Yum! Haha I was so excited to dig through them. She only paid $15 for the whole lot :faint:

Oh yeah, all the talk of repro ponies reminds me just a couple months ago I found a MIB reproduction g1 pony set. One of the CP sets.
Set out a bit late for the flea market, I'd have about an hour there when I got there, but got stuck in horrible traffic and there was pretty much no point. I'll go tomorrow maybe. :)

I saw a really nice SS Magic Star today. Flocking looked great except a bit of scuffing on the bottom of her hooves. I'm not a huge SS fan though so I left her there.

Two weeks ago I found a beautiful dream beauty (Wind Walker?). One of the Pegasus ones, with balloon symbol.

I found a near-mint Skydancer at a Goodwill outlet store! Her only problem was that her whole body was vaguely sticky, but a little scrub cleared that up just fine!

MINT Sunbeam, VGC Medley, Starcatcher II, Luau, Sweetie Belle's Gumhouse, two fakies and Glittery Pinkie Pie from a flea market for 5 dollars! Oh and 2003 Winters MIB for 10 dollars on Craigslist! Best find ever!

Barnacle, for $5 at a vintage/antique store. His hair is pretty dry, he's got a slight head/body mismatch and a couple of brown spots, but overall, he's in pretty good shape I could barely believe my luck.

I see some random G1s at the flea market from time to time - too bad they're usually priced greater than collector price and in just "ok" condition (otherwise I'd save them all). There's been no one really rare that I've stumbled across.
I picked up a Bubbles for $5 last time. $5 is still a bit steep for a flea market price (especially since I already have her), but she just looked so pretty that I couldn't stand to leave her behind.

Yesterday I went to a thrift store and found a bag that contained G1 Magic Message Pony Cuddles, Princess Misty, Baby Surprise, 2 keyper finders, a littlest petshop pink poodle, Loo-kee, a small pvc yellow dog with red/white ribbon I couldn't identify and more random items that I left behind for only $2!
I've had some good luck this year!

I found a battered shell of a Show Stable at a thrift shop. It's in really rough shape but it cost me next to nothing, so I couldn't leave it behind. :P Still wondering what to do with it.

Found this tray at the flea market today not even 5 minutes into being there.
I pointed to it and asked how much and he said $1. Can't pass it up for that. But now I have 2-3 of them. lol

I had a couple this summer......Baby Fleecy, Cotton Candy, Peachy, Blossom, and Butterscotch. My only good find so far this summer. Baby Fleecy was actually a separate find.....the guy at the flea market gave her to me for free. :)

My own find was in an antique store a couple weeks ago. TE Masquerade.
My mom found two G1s in a Value Village last week; a Posey with SUPER pink hair and sundae best Crunch Berry. I certainly amn't finding nearly as much as I used to though.

Mine was Aug 19 at a church sale, it was Birth flower pony for February, she was in a$ 2.00 This is my first one in years.

Last month I found a FF Butterscotch and a cute pony wear MLP purse. My best find was last spring when I found Starglow and movie version Firefly. Both times I was at Value Village.

the last one I found was a high flyer in a free box. She had no wings but free is free.

My mom found Lickety-Split at Value Village a few months ago. She isn't flawless but she's in pretty good shape. The rest of my g1 ponies are either gifts from swaps or ponies I bought myself while shopping for swap partners.

My last actual pony find was a couple weeks ago at my local flea market. I found newborn baby Jangles and Little Flitter. I've found many ponies at the same stall, including a MOC SS Lofty and a huge lot of 18 which included TAF Buttons and TE Bright Eyes.
Most recent related find was two porcelain ponies at a yard sale. Newborn porcelain is missing her tail and Moondancer's back leg has been reglued back on but I was so happy to get there for a quarter each. :)

I don't find G1's very often where I live, My last find prior to below, was over a year ago :pout:
However, just this past weekend on Saturday my husband and I were out shopping at Goodwill and he just happened to find a bag of G1's for $3. There were 8 G1's total including Euro Wind Whistler and all of them turned out to be in beautiful condition ^.^

I found a Flat Foot Blossom over the weekend. :) I hadn't found a G1 in ages, so I was pretty stoked to see her!!

I was at a comic con and few weekends back, and they had a big tub of G1s, G3s, and fakies at a vintage toys stall. Unfortunately, they were all very grubby and very over priced. The cheapest ones (fakies included) were $5 and had missing tails, cut manes, etc. I felt weird leaving without buying one, though, since it was only my second G1 find in the wild. In the end, I settled on a slightly grungy Peachy for $10. I know that price is high for Peachy, especially since she's far from perfect, but aside from a little ink she should clean up fine. Anyway, I didn't have to pay shipping and the day before I had been wishing that I had a Peachy since she's so cute! I wish the prices hadn't been crazy, then I would have bought more than one. To be honest, if I hadn't just made an impulse buy earlier that day I probably would have grabbed a second, but as it was even one pony was violating my "You are NOT buying anything else rule!!" So I just stuck with Peachy lol

hmm, my last find "in the wild" would have been in the toy store in the early 90's. I haven't seen any G1s in the wild since I was a kid :)
But my last buy back then was these 2 cuties - my last addition to my childhood herd!

I just had a once in a lifetime score yesterday- 17 ponies, Megan, accessories and play set. That's probably not going to happen to me again. :lol: before then, I once found some at an antique store but they were not cheap. :P

I found a paradise baby (the orange one I think is Beachball?) at a flea market a couple of months ago. I seem to find one or two when I am out thrifting every now and then but I never seem to find a lot of many all at one time.

I have a pretty decently sized G1 collection and they've all been tracked down in the wild! A toy store in my area specializes in selling used and vintage stuff, and they get new g1 ponies in all the time. I guess people figure it's more convenient than Ebay, and more folks than you might expect still have their old G1s. Other than that, I type my little pony into Craigslist a lot. Once found a girl who had collected ponies through out her childhood and was selling off a very complete g1 collection for not very much per pony because she wanted extra money for college.
My most exciting recent find was a sea pony with her shell for $25! She was very clean.

TODAY I walked into Salvation Army killing time before an appointment and found a few fakies, and then I turned around and BAM right there was a NM firefly! I started frantically looking for more and ended up with firefly, glory, Apple jack, cherries jubilee, sparkler, windy, te speedy, and baby firefly. All priced at 99cents each!
But it doesn't end there, I get to the register and the kind old man ringing me out says "oh yes! We just got these in, there's more in the back that we hadn't gotten out yet today." I asked him if I could buy those as well and he brought back a big bag of them! Inside were cotton candy, baby cotton candy, baby glory, tootsie, trickles, posey, Sky flier, majesty, flutter morning glory, sundance, peachy, masquerade, bbe baby shady, ss North Star, and a sea pony sea light!
I was ecstatic then his co-worker came up with a bag of more! Inside that bag was: G3 kiwi tart, G3 dazzle surprise, G3, Avalonia, G3 wishawhirl, G3 moondancer, g2 sundance, g2 petal blossom and...g1 mo stockings!!
It was one of those "am I dreaming" kind of days! I couldn't believe it! I just had to share!

Wow! That sounds like a dream find! Seriously, I've dreamed of having finds like that and always wake up before I'm able to get my hands on them.

I found 2 g1:s in a secondhand stor some weeks ago and the ponys i found was daddy and mommy sweet Celebrations :)

At the beginning of the year I was just strolling along when suddenly I saw a basket of G1s in a local charity shop window. I stood there for a second because I was honestly awestruck. :shocked: Of course I then rushed inside to buy them, panicking the whole time in case someone had somehow managed to get there before me. I was successful of course and managed to get the lot for around £10. Don't remember all of them and I've misplaced the photo, but included were Newborn Twins Bunkie/Fleecy and Speckles/Fluffy and their comb, Trucker/4 Speed, BBE Baby Half Note, a Petite, UK Applejack, and a bunch of miscellaneous combs including a Fairy Tail Bird one. There was also a 1988 Annual which I don't collect, but it was the year I was born so I figured it was a good luck charm or something. :lol:

I found Fizzy once at a jumble sale, she had a mohawk. I sent her away to be re-haired but she got lost in the post. Sadly the only pony I found in the wild and the only one to get lost in the post!

Thanks guys! It's been years since I've found a g1 at an actual thrift store like goodwill or Salvation Army! I've had a little luck at garage sales and flea markets/antique stores but no thrifts like I used to!!

I found Tossles recently. I was in total shock because I never find G1s in my area.

I'm new to collecting, so when I first started looking for ponies I could not find any at all!!!! None at garage sales or thrift stores!! However today I found a dream beauty and a g1 pony (and lots of g3 mcdonalds ponies) so I'm pretty stoked about that. :satisfied: Keep up the hunt ya'll! ;)

No wild ponies here where I live, but at the beginning of the year my mom found Salty at a flea market. He is a little baity, but I can't wait to restore him.
Oh, and I just remember, I found TE Galaxy when I was flea-marketing with my dad in April. She's very baity as well, but I will try my best to save her when I go back home.

Sat my mom and I made a trip to Indy to do some shopping. On our way home we stopped at a Goodwill we'd never been to before. I was looking through the carts of stuff they just brought out from the back room. On the top self of the third cart I found Bluebell and Peachy for 49 cents each! Unfortunately, they are both missing their tails. :( But other than that, after a bath they look like they'll be NM.

I found a Baby Tic Tac Toe in her diaper and pretty decent body for $1 at the Goodwill when it reopened in it's new location earlier this year.

At today's local flea market, I got a nice Glory and a Mainsail(?) with her hair cut, $2 each. :). My area is pretty common to find G1's at the flea, the only bad thing is they are usually in bait condition! I've found 6-8 Glorys there but probably only the second one in good shape.

Found Snuzzle, Lemondrop, Sprinkles and 2 Cotton Candies on a local flea market last weekend for a dollar each. Lemondrop and one of the Cotton Candies are rather baity, but the others are in good condition :)
Not too shabby for my first hunt in many years :biggrin:

I can't even really remember actually, was probably a bootfair find as that's the only place I find G1s in the wild but I don't get to go to my local bootfair much anymore if all due to being busy on a Sunday.
I think the last G1 I remember getting from a charity shop was a Pony Bride. Like it was in the one shop that out of all of them was the only one that ever seems to get ponies.

I found (or rather my daughter spotted it) a NSS Wind Whistler at a boot sale a couple of weeks ago :D she's not in the best condition but hey, the fact we found a G1 was amazing. I haven't found one for years lol.

I got a baby Surprise at a garage sale back in the '90s. It was a church garage sale, my dad was the youth pastor at the time. Someone donated a huge box of ponies for the sale. I squealed in delight when I discovered the box and begged my mom for us to pay for the box because I really wanted them all.hehe. :blush: But, my mom said no, and told me, "you can just buy the leftovers after it's over because the box is for the church sale" ..Naturally, I was bummed but eventually agreed. So afterwards, I looked into the box and only the baby remained! ^.^ Later, I realized the reason no one wanted her was because of tail rust.. They told me I could have her for free.. ^.^
After all these years, I still have her, and she recently underwent restoration work to become rust free! :) :satisfied:
I have found fakies in the wild at a Goodwill about a month ago but didn't get them...Still waiting for my "pony box.!" :biggrin:

Yesterday at a flea market I found Ringlet, Lickety-Split and a Yum Yum with gorgeous pink hair!! :D
Lickety-Split was missing from my collection and I had always loved her so I was happy to have finally found her but when I opened her (the seller packed all of the ponies in see-through plastic) I discovered she had what appeared to be mold on her tail and she is suffering from tail rust quite badly :( My mom told me to throw her away because of the mold but it was only on her tail so I decided to clean her instead. I finally had Lickety-Split who I had always wanted and I wasn't planning on letting her go that easily. And since the mold was only on her tail and not on the body itself I figured she'd be okay so I cleaned her up. Her hair is still really frizzy and she is still suffering from tail rust so I will be rehairing her eventually as soon as I can get my hands on some hair.
I also found a bunch of G2's and a few G3's :)

Show Stable with Ringlets, Sky Rocket, Baby Glider and Bouquet a summer or two back. One of my only G1 finds on adult age and definitely the best! :)

Wow! Maybe I should start actively looking for ponies on a regular basis if this is what is out there. The only G1 I've ever found in the wild was a Baby Surprise with no tail and a haircut. That was during my first pregnancy, so ... over 3 years ago.

Hollywood at a fleamarket last friday. I have two of her so almost left her but so rare I find a G1 anymore and she is in better shape than mine!

I found Baby Fleecy in a bag at savers for 2$ about three months ago. It was exciting :D I love finding vintage toys.

Pretty much! I am actually supposed to trade or sell to the guy who has a small store at my local flea market but I get so attached to a pony that its rare I ever do it. I moved into a smaller place and said I would and still haven't! So I end up buying off him still at times. Always say I am going through boxes I have packed but have yet to do it!
This flea market I went to last friday (Rogers if thats anywhere near you? see in ohio) is very hit and miss. I got lucky once and walked out with multiple bags of ponys and many I did not yet have. But I will go multiple times and not get anything but the amazing amish made doughnuts and its a two hour drive from home. Lot of neat stuff there though.
Now the one close to me(Jamies) that I can always find ponys but leave them for other people, has not had a pony I need for a long time. But then again its getting down to the rares I need and I dont do ebay. I also dont wake up nearly early enough on the weekends anymore!

Lucky! No, the only flea market I ever really went to in recent years in Ohio was one in Streetsboro, OH. Found a box of g1s there one time but mostly just a ton of g3s. I just moved to VA (I dunno why I don't update my location, lol, I'm still an Ohio girl at heart and don't want to I guess) earlier this year. In Ohio there's not much even within an hour radius of you I feel.. lol. It's not the same way here in VA where there are flea markets and thrift shops everyyywhere.

I haven't found any G1s in the wild in ages. It's been a year at least, maybe even two years. I don't really look that much but I do go to the flea market about every other weekend. The last one I found there was a pretty haggard Slugger.

Does a pony convention count? :P There was NO G1 stuff for two days, only G4!! But on the very last day, a seller brought in some G1 ponies for sale, possibly because I mentioned not seeing any G1 stuff for sale the previous days! XD

At the antique shop vendors... there are two or three cases that have G1 MLP in them. I picked out some memorable favorites but I have no desire to go back and buy 'em all. Hopefully some others in the Alberta area will get an opportunity to check it out!

I haven't been to any markets in a while but I did find G1 Baby Alphabet & Wave Runner in London a few weeks ago! I have actually found a few G1s in those Farrah second hand shops :)

After a few dry years I found a TAF dancing butterflies at VV in a $6 bag. She has tailrust and is filthy inside but I couldn't just leave her there. :)

I must live in a pony-free area, because I have looked in numerous second-hand stores and never found a single pony. I don't mean that I haven't found any G1s, I actually mean that I have never found an authentic second-hand MLP in the wild.
