Title: PC for MIB Breast cancer Awareness pony (Ribbons and Hearts Pony)
Post by: Ponyland on August 09, 2015, 01:06:08 PM
I'm not selling mine, just curious what her value is nowadays. :) I'm not really collecting G3 ponies, only have a few special ones.
I bought her MIB (the closed mouth version) here on the arena from a china member when we didn't know that she was going to be discontinued before hitting the stores, (but I had a hunch so I bought her when I had the chance). I don't think that there are so many MIB's of her, does anyone know? Mostly she was sold lose straight from the factory.

No pictures because she is in storage at the moment.

Here she is on wiki: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Breast_Cancer_Awareness_Pony (http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Breast_Cancer_Awareness_Pony)

Thank you!  :inlove:

Not sure, but she's one of the few that I don't have and would be interested in trading for...  If you change your mind and would like to swap, I have an MIP Licensing Show Rarity that I am looking to trade/sell off.  ^.^

I think there are only 2 out there, mine and yours.
Or has anyone seen more?

Yuanie had a MIB one for auction around this time last year. I bid $350 but was outbid. Can't remember the exact price it went for...

Thank you for your help! :) I know she is hard to price since there are so few. I will probably never sell mine as I think she is so cute and special and as I collect pre-production G1 ponies and stuff she fits quite good in my collection! I would like to have the open mouth one to on display beside her.

I don't know how I will do with my other special Fair and comic con G3's though, I don't really have room for them. But I don't like to part with ponies either... I guess they will just stay in storage until I can make up my mind. ;)

There is definitely one more, because I saw her on Saturday :) she is the closed mouth version and belongs to a UK collector

I would have to say... at least $400. Quite possibly more, especially if you start taking bids.

If you ever take her out of storage, I'd love to see a photo!  ^.^

Reading other comments on this thread, is the closed mouth version generally harder to find? I bought my open mouth version loose (with the 3D heart missing) for about $100 and I've been wondering what the closed mouth version ran for. Subscribing in case anyone has more information on this beauty.

The open mouth was the first test version for this pony, but they changed the design to the closed mouth version later. If the pony had been relesed it would have been as the closed mouth version, and the open mouth would have been the special factory test "prototype". But since the pony got discontinued both are rare.. (But I think I might have seen a few more in the open mouth version).

Collectors tend to think that the closed mouth version is a little bit prettier so she might be more sought after.

I was contemplating buying one loose last year but I couldn't justify spending so much on a single pony, as much as I want her lol :P The open mouth was $3-400ish and closed mouth was $4-500ish so I would have thought the MIB price would be much higher!

Yes that makes sense then that the MIB should be more valuable. I guess it just depends on how much 2 collectors are willing to pay for her then (and outbid each other).

Oh I really like a open mouth one too, but I don't know if I can spend that amount on a G3 pony either . So many expensive G1 that I want! :P

And this a photo from years ago, when a friend of mine got them for me.

I'd be rich now if I had kept them.

That pic is really drool worthy Honeycomb! I so wish I had both loose as well like you have! :) I adore my MIB though!

OK! Then we have a head count on 3 of them so far! And maybe one more if the one that got sold isn't the same as the UK collectors one. :)

 :dribble: So many beautiful ponies!

I never knew all the details of their history or which version came first.  ^.^
That bag of them... just wow!

Wow, was that price for them loose? Starting to think I really lucked out on what I paid for my open mouth one last year. Never mind, think I misread that. XD

Wait, really?!  I have a loose closed mouth version and always thought she was worth the $70ish I paid for her back in the day...

Those prices might be skewed. I didn't pay that, it was just what the collector was asking for as it would have been a reluctant sale (I think it was around the $350 mark but I can't remember the exact circumstances).

If anyone is selling for less hit me up, I would definitely still buy for a more reasonable price! I thought I should just give up on ever owning her but maybe the prices I'm imagining are all way off?  :P

So what is the story with her anyway?  Was she originally going to be released?  Where did these girls (and that bag of Honeycomb's!) come from?

I'd like to know her story too. Was she going to be released and then she was cancelled like those G1 prototypes in the Sears Wishbooks?  I really like the open mouth one but would be happy to have either one.

This is my MIB Ribbons & Hearts (this is the one Sebby saw this week :) ).  I bought her from someone on the Arena a couple of years ago.  She has the pink ribbon symbol in her eye and the packaging has the ribbon embossed on the front.  I seem to recall some connection with Avon - can't remember if I read that on the packaging but I don't have her to hand right now to check as she is in the museum exhibition.

I still want the open mouth version as she is pretty much the last G3 I need!

She's my ultimate grail! My friend used to have it for sale online, unfortunately I do not know her at that point of time and it's too late now.

If anyone plans on selling her in the future.. you know who to look for  :P

I remember that it was speculated that she was going to be released during the annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in october 2010. Because she popped up on ebay maybe half a year before that in China. But october passed by and no pony release was in sight, she just got discontinued.
I remember that some collectors was quite upset that she was sold here on the arena and on ebay before she was released, because it was speculated that some of the future profit from the sales in stores was going to be donated to this good cause. And that this pre-release sale skipped out on that. I know that some collectors even waited to buy her because of that. So it was really unfortunate that she never got released.

I would agree with the $400 or higher mark. Maybe closer to $500.

I personally would trade my two loose versions (open and closed-mouth)  for one MIB version if anyone is interested ;)  Or even trade some of my pre-production G3s for it.

I'm still smarting over missing out on the last Arena auction.  It sold before I saw it  *sigh*

I have a Ribbon&Hearts (with closed mouth). I like her a lot, I think I got her directly from China back then for maybe 20 bucks - but she's lose. She looks lovely MIB.

...I had no idea quite how rare she really is.

I've updated the My Little Wiki page on her with the information mentioned in this thread. The poor thing looked like it hadn't been edited in years.

I'm also on the list of those wanting her, but I prefer loose over MIB since she'll be displayed and cost wise will be cheaper for me. Good luck with your sale :)

I have an open and closed mouth but both loose :) I know of a collctor in Germany and one in the US who each have one MIB. And I can think of someone in the UK who did have one...but not sure if now sold. I grabbed mine off the website when they popped up.

As Honeycomb's picture shows, they are super hard to find but there are quite a few of them out there.

I agree they will be some of, if not the, most expensive G4s when sold. $200 when loose so probably pushing $350-400 when MIB. But it really depends on having the right collector interested as not everyone is willing to drop that on a G3.
