Title: Wish Me Luck!
Post by: Ivaness on July 14, 2015, 05:10:26 AM
I'm on my way to becoming a full fledged adult. By this, I mean I'm going to willingly put myself in debt so I can buy a new car.
I found a 2013 Chevy Spark (rented one, fell in love) and it's under 10 grand (without tags, title, and first born child). I'm going in soon to talk about a loan with my bank. And I'm scared to death. My 13 year old Hyundai is trying to breathe it's last, so this needs to happen soon.

When I rented the Spark for a trip, I drove 6 hours, almost got the tank to empty and it only took $17 to fill it back the whole way. My Hyundai... takes between $40-$60 to fill up and some months, I'm filling it up weekly.

So, wish me luck in this new adventure! I've never done this one my own before. The last time I had a car loan, I got it for my ex's truck almost 4 years ago. I think my credit was better then, too. Credit isn't that great now. ><

... Did I mention this car is a light shade of pink?

Oh sweetie you will be fine!!! :3 You should be so excited!!! I understand being nervous about the debt part, but under $10k for a car isnt bad at all!! Its not like you are 150k in debt on credit card bills! xD Ask for a 3 or 5 year plan if you want to save on a monthly payment!!  You are going to feel so FREE when you start paying for your own car!! I promise!!! How exciting!!! If anything you will we bored in the process of getting approved and signing for a car.... it can take hours!

I recently bought my first car too!! We upgraded from a hand me down 1995 jeep cherokee to a newer kia forte. The kia forte was pretty pricey and as a 21 year old (at the time!) with no credit it was hard for my husband and I to get a car!! Luckily we went up to our jobs, printed our paystubs, and got approved for the car!!! We are paying only $274 a month which is not really bad for a recently made new car!!! We have full-coverage insurance but we have been so good with payments with State Farm that for $117 a month we get full-coverage on the car PLUS renters insurance (that includes my ponies!!!!!) Also you should be excited!!!! You will be able to build up credit really fast as long as you remember to make payments!

GOOD LUCK!!!! I hope you get approved!!  :3 :cheer:

A PINK car!??? Im jeally! Mine is purple but eeek PINK!!!

I was not approved for the loans I put in for it. :( Since I haven't had a credit line in over a year, I have no credit score to go off of. (My Credit Karma says otherwise, but, I digress.)  I've emailed the guy I've been working with at the dealership, maybe he has some ideas.

I just don't understand why the place I had my first auto loan with, when I truly had 0 credit, approved me then but didn't approve me this time. Lol.

Thanks!
I emailed the guy I was working with at the dealership, his financial guy knows of a place by them that is pretty good at working with those who have poor/no credit. It's still a credit union so I'm hoping the interest rates aren't through the roof.

Now they're just taking their sweet time emailing me the paperwork to fill out.

Thank you!
My credit app has been faxed over to the dealership financial manager, so I'm hoping something works out.

But, I know if it doesn't, there are other cars closer to home.
A Chevy Spark will show up in my price range eventually. ^^;;

I hope that some financial institution can work some magic without charging a ridiculously high interest rate. A new car is an exciting prospect! Hyundai's do get amazing gas mileage (had an '05 Elantra, 5-speed manual at least 35 mpg all the time!); keep sweet talking yours daily until you get that loan... Good luck!

My Hyundai does not get good gas mileage at all. I don't know if it's the tires, how I'm driving or something else entirely, but it is not in my price range anymore. Haha.

I think Brian, the guy I'm working with at the dealership, is going to get tired of seeing my email address pop up. :)
At least it shows I'm eager, but I hope it doesn't show I'm desparate.

T_T
My siblings are the absolute best. My brother found me the Chevy Spark I want, he's willing to drive down with me to get it. And my sister said she'd cosign with me if I needed a cosigner.
I don't deserve my siblings.

They sold the car I wanted on Tuesday. (I just found out last night.)
So, the guy is trying to sell me on a brand new model for only a thousand more than the used model was.

My sister is being a darling and co-signing since I make 500 less than needed to qualify on my own.
