Hi everyone!

That was a quick week, wasn't it? We had a really good turnout for week one of Draw Together.
The chosen pony for everyone to draw was Twinkle Eyed Bright Eyes.

I'm so happy it had such a good turn out! I hope you all will continue to participate. I had fun!

This week I randomly chose from a whole list of g1 (another thing we need to talk about, what generations you want to cover!), scrolled around with my eyes covered and pointed my finger at the screen and landed right on Heart Throb!

How about a different G every week? We might even do a rotation. G1->G1.5->G2->G3->G3.5->G4

I prefer to paint gen 1, and I have a loooong list of ponies on my "to-paint" list so I'll mostly be participating there. For g4 I've recently painted all the princesses, pinkie pie, and fluttershy, and want to do the other manes plus a couple of my favorite background characters so I might hop into a gen 4 draw together.

Eventually I'd like to do a couple gen 2s (after all my gen 1s are finished). If I got a commission for a gen 2 or 3 I'd tackle it right away, buuuuuut otherwise I'll be over here painting gen 1s.  ^.^

I prefer almost strictly g1 too ponyqueen. I will post a poll later to see how much interest in other gens and decide how often to do them from that.

Or any other advice?

I like all pony gens :) g2 is the one I draw the least but I suppose that means it's the one I need the most practice on! :) g1 will definitely be the most popular but there are especially some very pretty g3s that would be fun to draw too. I hope there will be a mix of gens :)

woot! Heart Throb! she's listening to music I kinda wanted to draw her along the same line as I've done for my oc pony skypainter~ tried a new shading technique as well.

Excited for a new week of pictures (and you're starting us off strong kestral_kitsune). I have something that has to prioritize my art time at the moment, but I'll still do my best to squeeze in an entry for Heart Throb.

I also vote for equal gen love. Every gen has great ponies that deserve the chance to get some art.  :art:

Still need to formally gush over everyone's art for last week too. Tomorrow hopefully.

It's based on her back card story on mylittlewiki.org/Heart_Throb  I love trying to draw things I'm not good at and boy am I bad at birds...  ^^;  But I thin I'm getting a little better?

Just sat down with my daughter who was drawing.  She didn't mind me borrowing a piece of paper to do a quick sketch of my own ;)

Loving these threads. Love everyone's styles and it's nice to have a little motivation to pick up some pencils again :)

To be fair, folks. You can always draw any generation in whatever style you would like. I'm up for diversifying the generation pool though.  It might give us a new appreciation for the many generations of pony biz.

Marlin- I just love your style, how the ponies look like real horses! And those wings. Real bird wings. Cool.

Dainty- I really like all the flow lines you put into the hair! I like seeing all that direction.

Both- On clouds!! Tee hee. Maybe I'll put my Heart Throb on a cloud, too!  ^.^

Maybe an alternative prompt generation would be a good idea. We could always have g1 going for primarily g1 fans like ponyqueen and I, (I probably would only draw g1 or g3), and some weeks or all weeks we could have alternative prompt, draw g2/g3/g4 __pony's name__.

Medly, I use a white gel pen :) I should probably use chalk but I'm out right now and as i'm moving so soon i dont want to add to my art supplies until afterwards LOL
thanks ponyqueen :P I'm still working out how to best get that sorta look without it looking sloppy. But im getting there.

Marlin your take on ponies is so unique I love it! :)

I am very new to painting. This is probably only like the second or third thing I've tried to do seriously. I made myself though and I'm rather happy with how it turned out, or at least for sticking with it! It took me so long, jeez.

So sorry to say I wont be able to participate in this one! I have some other art related things I'm doing at the moment and I've been expectantly busy, maybe next week! Also for pony pickings, I say every gen but G4 and possibly stick to more obscure ponies without a lot of art? I'd still draw whatever though :)

Kestral, I love that curly hair! She seems like she's really enjoy herself.

Archidraca, you have such a unique style, it's beauitful! Love that you stuck to her backcard story. The birds look great.

Marlin, so beautiful! Those wings!! Seeing ponies in a realistic style is so refreshing.

Dainty, so glad to see you join in! Your brown paper drawings make me so envious, I wish mine came out that good!

Ponycake, you did an amazing job, I'm glad you stuck with it.

Can't wait to see more!

Thank you! I worked on it with only small breaks (a lot of them though, I do it all the time and was carrying a convo on with bf) for like 4.5 hours! That's embarrassing.. lol. :blush:

I'm doing another tonight of another pony so I'll post that on my art thread when I get that done. :) Right now I'm making rainbow swirl cupcakes with g4 figures on top!

I agree! It's usually only when I spend a number of hours on a painting that I'm usually happy with how it comes out. And it's even better if you're enjoying yourself while you're doing it (with the exception of those occasional moments of frustration wondering if you should just scrap it and start over   >_< )

Yep. Totally. It takes hours. I don't call a painting finished for days, because after looking at it with fresh eyes, I ALWAYS see things I need to fix or add, like a cloud  ;) or BOTTOM EYELASHES (I always forget them!) or that something needs more shading etc.

thanks so much. it was a bit easier to do as a g4 style than g1. it would have taken longer getting the g1 details right.

After days of fighting with it I wrestled my sketch into submission. Now to see if I can get it colored on time.  :blush:  Sorry for the cell phone shot, I was on my break at work.  If I get it colored I'll scan it for real  :P

buttonso- gorgeous flowing hair. It's very well done, instantly looks peaceful and relaxing, is that weird? I swear it has that effect! :P

Ugh. THIS, children, is what happens when you are in too big a hurry to dig through your marker box for the correct colors and just go "eh the basic set will have enough pinks" AND you color in a hurry over your lunchbreak.  :| You get sloppy coloring and totally the wrong shades of pink.

Kestral Kitsune – I already commented but I have to say again, love her 80s hair and the fact that she’s doing something instead of just posing pretty (not that I don’t love pretty poses!)

Archidraca – Your style is so fun and free!  It’s adorable!!

Marlin- I love your beautiful, sketchy style, it’s so dreamlike! :D

Dainty- Aww she’s so little and cute! And I love the look of the white pen on the brown paper, so cool!

Ponycake – Beautiful pose, so soft looking, such pretty colors too!

Babyblueducky- Aww! So cute and playful, I love her happy expression!

Medley79 – Lovely job, I like your coloring style a lot and the soft curls in her hair

Sapphire Rain – I know you said you weren’t really going for the mom/baby thing but it does give that impression, which is super cute ;)  I like the cartoony, happy style they have going on!

SubmarineHallucination- Wow!! I love all the sparkly/glowy effects, looks like something right out of the show :D

Urocyon Fox – Pretty pretty headshot! I love her eyes and her colors :D

Uninu- LOVE those wings and the more “realistic” horse style, and her sassy expression :D

It's so much fun to check this thread out daily; I really look forward to seeing the new posts.

Buttonso, both of yours look great, and although you weren't satisfied with the coloring on the second, I think it was a nicer mellow tone to her...it did remind me of a sunset, like ponycake said. I also like how you place your highlighting...not too much, but it works really well. Also thanks for commenting on mine :)

Sapphire Rain, always like the expressions you draw, and the smaller one reminds me of a chibi version of the larger one.

Submarine, that is really cool - I love that style. Makes me think of an RPG game, like she's a pony cleric or sage ;)  I think all those small white circle lights really add a magical feel.

Uninu, nice job! I think those forward facing drawings are difficult, especially around the chest area, but you drew it really well.

Wow, all these amazing drawings. I can't even decide which one I like more, all of them are simply gorgeous.
