I ~think~ the only other Funko threads that are on the arena are specific to previously released waves such as Shining/Cadence/Spike and Luna/Celestia.
I'm quite enamored with Apple bloom's bow, even though I'm not a big CMC fan. Always excited for the glitter variants...ugh...now I'm one of those people?!? :biggrin:

Im officially torn between encouraging and discouraging anyone getting into these. They do consume my collection and at times my wallet. But they just look-SO-good!! Hahah
Seriously though, theyre a fantastic collectable, and I feel that glitters have fewer paint flaws.

The glitter variants are the pride and joy of my entire pony collection and even though I'm missing that darn glitter Luna :rant:, I love that I at least have all the others. They look great together! But finding them can be a pain. I'm lucky that I live near so many Hot Topic stores, because my fiance and I can call around and most of them have no issues holding ponies for us. I know not everyone is that lucky, though.
At one point I contemplated selling off my glitters and just sticking to the regular vinyls (mostly because I don't have Luna. It frustrates me not to have a complete set of something). On the one hand, I'm glad I changed my mind, but on the other... my wallet is crying because of the future glitter variants I know I'll just have to have. It's not even like I feel entitled to having all of the glitters, it's just "Well, I have all the other ones, might as well keep getting them." :lol:
It's totally my fiance's fault, too. The first glitter I got (aside from RD and :muffin:) was Octavia in my pre-order from Hot Topic. I was going to sell her, but my fiance convinced me to keep her and next thing I knew, he had gotten me glitter DJ Pon-3 on eBay. It was all downhill from there.
Oooooohhhh no. I found glitter Luna on eBay for a kinda-sorta decent price. Someone hold me back!
I saw that one- but I wouldn't consider her your last shot. ALL of the glitter ponies, no matter how popular or rare, eventually fall to the $40-$50 mark (some even cheaper)

Anyone on the west coast seen the CMC in any stores yet? There's a listing on eBay for Applebloom and she has no HT sticker, so I'm wondering if that means no HT exclusivity on these girls.
Could be that Funko had her for sale at SDCC. They usually bring a ton of new released stuff...

The first Rainbiw Dash and Muffin Pony were $14.50, but I don't know when the prices started to climb. But I am fairly certain that the increase is on Hot Topic's end rather than Funko's, because aren't they around $12.50 at Barnes and Noble? Probably cheaper at FYE, too.

Funko isn't hiking the price, Hot Topic is. Blame them.
Price is agreed between manufacturer and retailer - Hot Topic cant sell at a grossly inflated price unless the manufacturer agrees. So I doubt Funko are blameless in this situation - its most likely a joint agreement.
I think in the US the retailers have the right to charge what they want. I mean MLP blind bags are like $6 at HT when they are like $3 everywhere else.Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Maybe we can help clear up that confusion! What are you confused about, exactly?
There's always a chance to find glitter variants of the vinyls at Hot Topic. About half of the glitter variants I own were found in-store. :) I usually call around and specifically ask the employees if they have glitter variants, some places are nice enough to hold.
Once the exclusivity period is up and figures start showing up in other stores, you can also find glitter variants there. I've found glitter Big Mac at Barnes & Noble before.
Thanks Moonbeamstar!! I had no idea that glitter variants could be found in the stores. When I get on the HT sites I've seen it say 1 in 24 could be a glitter. So that's why I was confused. Now I feel like I might have a chance to actually get a glitter variant. Also I was unaware that Barnes carried vinyls too. I'm fairly new to collecting the funko vinyls. I just walked in, saw Scoots, SQUEED, they asked me if I needed help finding anything, and let them know I was looking for the glittery versions- in my tuneful happy tone. They were 'told in an email' *rumbles under breath* that no HT stores are allowed to tell customers if they have them in stock or not. Even on the phone! They said it defeats the purpose of them being 'chase figures' and he also said he could have one in the back for all I know but he cant tell me OR show me if they have them unless they put them out on the shelf. I was like, mmm ok, thats interesting. THEN he told me HE collects them too! "You think you have it bad? I have to wait a month after release before I can even buy them!" The staff also told me there arent any glitter variants for the CMC. I said a cheerful, "....OK thanks anyways! :3" but in my head I was like... :rant: *chibi anime version of me inside my head stomping, swearing, pulling out my hair*

but they came up with a new policy since last year their "bulk " purchaser policies prevent you from returning them, if you buy more than 3 in any order, they can refuse for you to return them ,only if there is a defect or something wrong,also at the stores have a policy since the Celestia release : you can't buy more than 3 of the same character , policies are enforced or not it depends by the store and even of the cashier at the store, I was able to buy 4 later at the same store when a different cashier was in charge, other cashiers will enforced the limits though , I think they are tired of the pressure of the glitters last wave I was told there is Glitter stock information within their system,but is all up to the store and employee you have the luck or lack of it to deal with .My store has Scootaloo and Applebloom, no glitters.

Well I can almost believe this actually- there was so much abuse from collectors buying 20 online just to pick out the glitters and return them to stores- i think they probably are trying to come up with some policies.

This is true-
Funko doesn't control the retail cost. In the US the manufacturer can suggest a retail price, and it is up to the retailer to follow that suggestion or to set a different price. It is then up to the consumer to pay more or less than the suggested retail.
People are always complaining on the Funko board that Comic shops or retailers are "scalping" certain figures and exclusives- but Funko won't usually get involved unless they get a LOT of complaints- and there is some true gouging going on (they did step in once before on an exclusive issue)
I've noticed Hot Topic's ponies are ALWAYS higher than retail- I think they set them that way on purpose so that they can sell for retail once they go 30% off (which happens around when the exclusivity ends).

Are these getting hard to find? I may not be able to get them for a while. I was hoping to get them for my birthday in October if my brothers ask me if I want something. I am wondering if they will skyrocket in price by then...
