Title: Yellow greek Sunlight?
Post by: Brilliant Bloom on May 07, 2015, 11:53:58 PM
Hi!

I`m a little bit confused. A time ago I found this wonderful pony:

This are the hoof markings, she has an A under one hoof:

I know, that there is an orange Sunlight, but this is yellow. Is she faded? Or is this a new shade, like the different blue shades of her? Here is a pic who shows the difference to orange ponies:

What is your opinion?

She looks like she is skydancer's yellow! I think it suits a lot, makes her more "sunny" looking!
Gorgeous pony! I hope there's someone who knows some information for you :)

I've never seen or heard of a yellow version of Greek Sunlight. She could possibly be a faded orange one, but she looks lovely in this color no matter what her origins. As PKW mentioned, you can check the seam inside of her neck to see if it's a different color.

Wow!

First thanks a lot for your answers!!!

I can`t believe that I found such a special pony!

@pinkkittywinks and @kitkatvintage:

Yes, I popped her head off and the color inside is exact the same as outside, everywhere.

@Miss Violet:

I`m speechless! I can`t believe that I have an individual item in my collection!

And yes, the yellow suits her a lot, I love her very much!

So what do you think how much is my cutie worth? I have really no idea.

Ponies like this are really hard to value :(

How long have you had her? Do you remember where you got her from? :)

Her symbols, eyes and hair all appear Greek and only Greek ponies have the Alpha mark under her feet :)

Thanks so much for your answers! :hug:

@Princess Sparkle:

As pinkkittywinks said, the symbol looks like the Greek Sunlight symbols, she has the Alpha mark and I have another Greek pony (Melenia), and the body is so "soft" as Melenias. So I`m pretty nearly certain that she is greek.  :)

It seem that she is not faded, I checked her again and made a photo from the inside:

Hopefully, you can see something, but she has everywhere the same color inside as outside.

She is stunning! I would hazard a guess on her being faded as well but even if she was she is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats on her.

Miss Violet, I found her in Austria from a private seller (not ebay or something else). In that little lot were also ponies and accessoires from other countries (Italy, the Takara fakie box from Palau Toys from Spain etc.). So I got the idea from a family in the 80s, who were often on vacation and bought the ponies as souvenirs for the little daughter.  ^.^

If she is faded, she's certainly very evenly faded and her symbols not affected at all!  But it looks exactly like Skydancer's yellow to me.  just beautiful :heart:

^ Yes! Now I wonder if they swapped Sunlight and Skydancer's colours back then. Sunlight = yellow, Sky = blue... XD

Beautiful pony!

She doesn't look faded to me, rather like a VERY special lady! El Greco will probably never stop surprising us! Congratulations on your find! The blue mark on her leg should have come from contacting some other blue material. Sadly, Greek ponies came with this disadvantage: the plastic is really absorbant of other colours, so people often discover ponies with hot pink marks from saddles or shoes, or simply because they left the pony on e.g. a vividly painted surface. Same problem with faded cutie-marks, the plastic absorbed the red / pink ink. if you leave her out in the sun, she should clean-off rather well. And with proper care her colours will overall become even more alive!

Thanks for the much-needed pony-fix!

I keep looking at her! I have been looking and looking and I am not sure she is faded. The yellow looks like Greek yellow to me, also surely her hair and symbols would not be so nice if she was faded.

I wish I knew more!

A bit of an update.

I am the happy new owner of this girl. A big thank you and hug to brilliant bloom.  I nicknamed her Sundancer. Skydancers color scheme and sunlights pose and symbols.

She has the exact body color of greek yellow moondancer. Her body color does not match greek butterscotch. My greek yellow moondancer was able to be briefly slid out of her card for the comparision because the plastic was coming away from her card.  I will add some photos soon.

Sundancer will be most likely my last nirvana addition ever. I have sold 50 percent of my collection and keeping my most treasured and sentimental nirvanas. Recent job loss has contributed to my decision to minimally collect from this point forward. But this girl has the most loved home and i will treasure her always.

A few photo comparisions of body color.
