does anyone else live in the area?
i understand it's a dark topic, please tell me if it needs to be removed.
luckily i'm not downtown, but i have a lot of friends in or near Mondawmin and it's a wreck. Buildings on fire, people throwing bricks, looting, and i don't even know what was going on with that little woman that was sitting in front of the police barricade earlier.
are you all safe? my sister's boss got the stuffing kicked out of him by police, but he's fine.
i'm fine on my end. my friends and i are very young, so our parents have mostly kept us all inside with the doors locked.
what are you doing to distract yourself or to help the situation?
if you don't live in Baltimore City, please don't let this affect your views of our city. Baltimore is wonderful. every city has its hard times. we're going to overcome this.
please be safe and pray for our city.

I don't live there but I was in Hanover yesterday and I'm kinda freaked out about the fact that I was so close to it less than 24 hours ago. Stay safe everyone!

I need to check in with my folks. >_< They live in Baltimore County, but my dad works on Northern Parkway. I'm hoping it's stayed peaceful over there. My in-laws both work in the city and they were a little rattled but okay.

I only know about real-world stuff when my husband mentions it over the toilet while I'm brushing my teeth, xD Anyways, what exactly is it!? A bunch of people running around stealing!? Why 'merca, why!??

You might want to read some more about what's actually going on there (try and find a source that's as neutral as possible if you can). It's not just people running around and stealing. I won't get into it here since this isn't a discussion post.
I hope everyone stays safe! I've seen that there are plenty of peaceful protests going on and I hope that those quickly overshadow the riots. Keeping my Baltimore friends in my thoughts and prayers.

Er, yeah. It's kind of a complex situation, and I've seen valid arguments from all sides. I won't say more here.
Anyway, I'm so sorry to hear what those in the city are going through. I hope things are resolved and calm down soon.

My dad lives in Baltimore (downtown) and said the riots were about 3 miles from him. He seemed to think that he wouldn't have any trouble, but I know fires can spread that far under certain circumstances!
