Hi, everyone!
Some of you might remember my previous post from about six months ago about wanting to self-publish my book but being very afraid!
http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,359797.msg1259128.html#msg1259128 (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,359797.msg1259128.html#msg1259128)
Well, I did it! I really did it! :D
I decided to use Createspace for most services and also Elance for editing help. What a long journey it was. And it definitely ended up costing more than I thought to make it more polished.
I still have some nerves about getting bad reviews and that kind of thing. But I am proud of myself for following through with it, and I am so motivated to keep writing. Maybe there is a best-seller in my future. Who knows? :)
(If you are interested to see how it looks, you can find it by clicking through my Facebook link on the left.)

Congrats! That's totally wonderful. :)
The best advice I've heard for anyone in the self publishing game is to always be working on the next book. Backog is everything. I hope things go well for you!

Oh wow! Congratulations! Such an amazing goal you had, and it's awesome that you did it! Keep working towards that best-seller and let us know when it's published. :D

How very exciting! I'm still dragging my feet about putting my last pre-editing changes into my draft to do the same thing - you've got more nerve than me, that's for sure!
As far as worrying about bad reviews... know that your book will not be everyone's cup of tea, and that's perfectly okay! For example, I *still* haven't been able to force myself through the first of a very, very popular series of books that has pretty much the highest acclaim novels can get. That doesn't mean it's poorly written, or not creative enough, or anything like that. It just means that for whatever reason, I don't that particular series. Also, remember that there is no shortage of trolls on the internet and people are more motivate to leave negative reviews for something they don't care for than they are to leave positive reviews for things they love.
I think that what matters the most is that this is a story that you love and believe in and that you put forth the effort to share it with the world! HUGE congrats!! :)

Okay, so I bought your book and am going to read it soon, I hope -- when I finish it you can count on a review from me on both Amazon and Goodreads! :) And I think Amazon has a pretty good system for dealing with trolls -- and trolls are less motivated to try writing reviews on Goodreads (though they do comment in droves on OTHER people's reviews. :/ )

Oh, thank you ringwraith! Reviews are what every self-published author longs for. :)

Congrats that is so cool.
