Title: Terry Pratchett is dead.
Post by: Beldarna on March 12, 2015, 12:02:25 PM: He was one of my favorite authors when I was young, and his humour taught me so much. Even if his later books wasn't as good as the earlier he made a huge inpact on my life and I am devastated that he is gone. He died at age 66 of alzheimers.

R.I.P Terry Pratchett, you will be greatly missed. :cry:

This is the most upset I've been about a celebrity death. Even though it was coming, I had just sort of pretended it would never happen :(

he's now free of his Alzheimer's, and I hope Death is just how he imagine him to be. If so, I'm sure they are having quite a chat.

Post by: FullMoonFever on March 12, 2015, 04:06:28 PM: I am very upset, my mom just walked in and told me. I'm in the process of Reading the Long Mars, and I wonder if the co author is going to finish the series. Come to think of it, is anyone going to finish the DiscWorld series?

I think his wife has been writing his stories for quite some time- or at least finishing ideas that he had or started. My heart goes out to her...

I was lucky enough to get to meet him when he came and lectured at my university. He was a lovely man. And the world has lost a little piece of magic today, that is for sure.

xeevee, that is so cool that you got to meet him. :)

I had a meltdown in the shower last night.. I've never been this upset over any celebs deaths before. When Robert Jordan died I was more angry and I hardly cared about David Eddings passing (and they were the ones that got me in to fantasy), but this shook me to the core.. I wish I could have thanked him for all the laughter ha gave me.

I've never been sad over a celebrity passing like this, I do get sad but not like this, I guess it hits hard when a person who has bring much happiness to world is gone, but I'm glad his Alzheimer's will no longer be an "embuggerance" anymore

Neil Gaiman was due to have a talk with someone the evening of his death, he spends a lot of it talking about Terry, if anyone is interested in hearing some wonderful tales of the two.
