Title: Fake Tracking Number? Is this Possible? O.o (non pony related)
Post by: Twilight Pink on March 10, 2015, 12:58:17 AM
Hi there, I need alittle insight on one of my ebay purchases if any :)

I ordered my very first CD from eBay, Baha Men's Who Let The Dogs out (a childhood CD of mine ^^) from a seller with 1 negative feedback (but the seller solved that issue)  and 1 neutral feedback while the rest is postive feedback, pretty trustworthy worthy seller in my book compared to the other listings I've found ;)

Purchased it, couple of days later they shipped it out and of course the majority of the time eBay gives you the tracking number but here's the problem:

there is not tracking info found on my CD !!!! It's being shipped by USPS, but each time I put in the tracking number, I get "NOT FOUND" and normally there would be "pre shipment info received " on USPS's tracking page <:/ and this has been going on for atleast 4 days....

So is it possible for a fake tracking number to be created by ebay or something/ someone else? Can anybody give me any idea what the heck is going on? O.o

are you certain it is being shipped through usps, or could it be being shipped through UPS mail innovations(UPS takes the payment for it, then *they* mail it through USPS); those have to be tracked through the UPS site.

Or, if the seller entered the tracking info by hand, rather than using a label printed out through paypal, they may have had a typo. :)

Have you contacted your seller about your issue? They would be the person with the most knowledge about your package

This is exactly what I was thinking. I would do as bandit suggested and contact your seller.  ;)

I had a similar thing happen once. I was given a tracking number but was never able to track my package. The seller called USPS and was told that maybe it hadn't scanned properly and that it may only show up at it's next scan point.

It never did show up on tracking but I received my package all the same with no other problem.

Hope this helps, and I hope you get an answer soon enough. :)

Yes I have contacted the seller, she has tried to track it as well but with no luck :(
And I'm positive its USPS, I've used the tracking number on every other website but nothing came up.

I really do hope it'll still arrive though ._.

I'm sure it will arrive.  I've had packages never scan/update before.  It seems totally dependent on what mail person/depot is scanning at the time or if the website is working.

EDIT - I meant to say, I ship a lot of mail tracked for work and the majority of the time everything is fine but occasionally I'll have a letter or a whole bunch of letters just not scan right so I never know if they've been delivered until I get a reply.  It happens.  Have your seller recheck the tracking number.  If she entered it herself she could have mistyped it.  If it was automatic just hang in there.  You have 45 days before it really becomes a problem.

If you're seller got the label at the post office (you can still do this, right?) --  and it wasn't scanned -- it wouldn't show up

Like skeen says, happens all the time.

No need to worry about it yet since it's only been 4 days

Speak of the devil, my CD has arrived to me XD I have an everlasting smile on my face! C:

And I think it was a typo that the seller put in :P because its handwritten mailing info and not the usual printed mailing slip
