My two favorite thrift store finds: Twilight and Ember. Each one cost less than a dollar.

You can't see it very well from this photo but she had tail rust. It was time for my first ever restoration.

I somehow managed to get the tail out with the tools you see and washed and reset the tail. She's now the pretty pony in the first photo.

I found a Baby Quackers for $0.25 a couple days ago. I still need to clean her up, she's filthy. That's probably the best deal I've found. I haven't found anything super rare but I've been pretty lucky with finding quite a few ponies.
This was my best G1 find, found these girls all in one day

And it wasn't a thrift store find but my best friend was cleaning out the preschool that closed in her community and found about 20 G1's in a box and she gave them to me. I still need to have a big spa day and get them cleaned up.

I went to four a few weeks ago with my parents and was completely unsuccessful. :sad:
The only MLP thing I even saw was Doctor Whooves pillow pet. Needless to say that was incredibly unexpected and made me laugh.

I've found a lot... Until about a year ago and since then I haven't had any more luck.
Maybe another local collector? :)

Do people generally find older gens in certain areas? Like urban vs. small-town? Independent vs. chains like Goodwill and Savers? Or is it all just luck??

I live in a big city so I think that helps but I also have competition, I know there are several other arena collectors in my city and I've seen their brag posts so I know they are finding G1's too. :biggrin: I usually only go to big chains but that's because I don't know what other thrift stores are out there.

My favorite thrift store finds are ponies (usually G3) that I like, but probably wouldn't buy for myself online.
"Ooh, Desert Rose! I always liked her."
"Seascape is so pretty in person! I never really planned on owning her, but, Heck, she's here now, I might as well hold on to her..."

I work in a thrift shop. Sadly, I've worked there a year, and have never seen a single G1 come in, although I've collected PLENTY of other toys (and really, just things) I've found there. I've found a few of G3s and G4s. My tablet is dead, or I would post some pictures.
G3: (warning, I don't remember all of their names)
- Sweetie Belle
- Scootaloo
- Sweet Shop for tiny ponies.
- Blue sparkly pony with whitish mane
- Pony with a puzzle piece (she was actually a gift from a co-worker. <3)
- White pony with orange mane and peach cutie mark (Peachy Pie, or Peach Blossom?)
- Two pink ponies which I can't locate to describe further.
- Another white pony who I don't know what I did with right now.
(Sorry for the vague description, I'll just post pictures later.)
G4:
- A cute little plushie blue baby pegasus with a cloud for a cutie mark.
- TY beanie babie Rainbow Dash.
- Plushie Fluttershy with glitteryish mane.
- Small Rarity plushy.
I think that's everyone... but it's probably not. lol
