Title: Could MLP be dog toys?
Post by: TWILIGHTCOOKIE on January 22, 2015, 06:01:18 PM
At Petsmart right now they have Care Bear and Pound Puppies dog toys licensed by Hasbro! I just got 4 PP for my collection--they are very similar to the Tonka ones from the 80s. I got a Grumpy Bear for my Chihuahuas, very cute!

I wonder if they will make G1 MLP dog toys in the future--I would buy a bunch for my collection and my dogs. What do ya think?? They would probably be soft and stuffed with stitched eyes.

that would be cool.
i know i've made my dog a few toys using a plush pattern i found, but i'm not sure how my niece would like a puppy chewing on ponies.

Not sure if is a good idea, but a dog might not going to difference a Pinkie Pie chew toy from a Mimic  -_-

My toy poodle have his own (non pony) plush toys but he sometimes wants to steal my plushes  even my BAB  ponies

I think it could be a good idea, it'll save real ponies from being chewed to pieces (I have many g1 ponies that are victims of this and I'm still trying to fix them) but ones made for animals will be better able to withstand the damage, and may not have too much of a need to take real ponies "I'm just like my family because I have a toy too" kind of thing, in my experience my dogs mostly did this. And I'm sure to a dog being a family kind of animal, it'll be pretty happy to be just like it's family :)

i doubt the toys would be made of plastic, since plush toys are some of the best sellers.
i know my puppy has almost as many toys as i have.
she doesn't bother any of my plushes, but i make sure they smell like me (hug them lots) and she leaves them alone.
she's only ever gone after ponies if i've been out of town for several days. and they were mostly g3 pinkies and g1 remakes so i wasn't too upset.

though i doubt she could do anything wrong in my eyes.  i swear this is her default face. XD

I also agree that they probably wouldn't be plastic unless is was that squeaky toy soft vinyl that some dog toys are made of. I sure hope they do make MLP anything for dogs at this point--maybe a cute sweater with Firefly on it? I just found it strange they are making other Hasbro toys for dogs now.

I think these products are adorable! As long as your doggie can differentiate between which is his/her stuffed toy and which is your stuffie. LOL.

(If MLP shaped dog toys were made I'm guessing that they'd be G4 inspired...)

Honestly though, if I really wanted to give the greyhound a pound puppy to chew on I could go in the garbage bag full in the basement and pick out a few... LOL. Or I could go to the goodwill pay per pound and pick up a handfull every time I go there for very cheap. They've been marketed very well over the last few decades...

Who needs *official* MLP dog toys? I distinctly remember my dad giving one of my plushes to the dog to annihilate. *sobs* *still bitter 20 years later*

^ nooo!

My childhood dog chewed poor Megan's leg and she was forced to wear her snow gear tights for the rest of her doll life.

I'm guessing it won't happen, although it's not impossible. If they did I would pick some up for my collection! :)

The Pound Puppies line was probably chosen because they are dogs.
Care Bears are not Hasbro.

MLP being made into a dog toy -has- happened in one country with the Flat Foot ponies of G1
They removed the hair and placed a squeaker in them.

So it's not impossible for the G4 line XD

Have you got a link? I've seen Venezuela squeaky butt ponies but they are vintage.

I believe these were pinata toys, not dog toys.

I was told they were dog toys when I went to the MLP Fair in TN this past year XD I think I saw one at one of the tables and possibly I think it was Clipper who told me about them.

They seem to be one of the Venezuelan variants though.. and looking on youtube apparently there is a Firefly one. kCherry has a video on youtube as well one on of the squeaky ponies and believe me they sound like dog toys to me XD

They are pinata toys :) Although they certainly would double as dog toys :P

I guess this one is down to licensees and what they think will sell. Its certainly not going to be a made by Hasbro product but if someone has already got a license from them from Pound Puppy, I guess if they think ponies will sell as dog toys they will give it a go lol. Would be interesting to see. But as my pup and I have come to an agreement about what are his toys and what are my toys (ponies and MH are mums...ALL other toys are Harry's) we would probably be skipping this dog toy.

Those dog toys are so cute! I don't think I would give them to a dog- I think I would keep them for myself :)

Petsmart now carries Pound Puppies for dog toys and for a while Disney character toys so sure why not have some doggie ponies? : )
