When I was a very young girl I had a certain kitten toy that I dragged around everywhere. Her name was Tawny and she had glass eyes that eventually busted because I gave her so much love. I received the nickname "AllyKat" because of my attachment to this particular toy. She purred with what seemed like marbles and she had some sort of liquid (faint memory here) pouch in her tummy that gave her weight.
Anyway, this childhood toy stands out in my mind very prominently. I was browsing tumblr one day and I finally found what the toy was called!

I later found out that the particular toy I had was recalled. I remember seeing and hearing about the recall.
Anyway, do any of you collect these adorable things? I sadly no longer have my beloved Tawny. Even if I found her it's safe to say she's ruined. The prices on these on Ebay are stunningly high looking...

Really stirs my nostalgia. I'm so sad that these are too pricey for me. The ones I find are in the $50 range.

Aw, I remember those! I have the Jungle Kitty Tiger one somewhere. He was one of my favorite toys when I was younger!

I think I had one of those when I was very little, because it sounds very familiar. It may have been the black and white one. It's still at my dad's house, I think.

I missed out on this particular toy as an 80's child. They really are quite cute. Yes, they had an internal bladder.

I had a calico kitty kitty kitten. I can't recall her name. What was the reason for the recall, does anyone know?
Speaking of recalls, anyone remember Sky Dancers? I had one of those and I remember them being recalled after causing an assortment of serious injuries.

I remember Sky Dancers! I heard they were recalled once too and thought it was ridiculous but many people said they were hurt by theirs.
I still have my Sky Dancer too (my dad found her in a box over the summer). My parents may have my Kitty Kitty Kitten. I'm not sure. My mom is a bit of a hoarder and has bags of some of my old toys in their backroom. I've been bugging her to clean the room out as I suspect there are a lot of gems in there including my old fantasy fillies and grand champions. I'd love to sell a lot of that stuff to help repay some student loans.

I don't collect them myself, but I do pick them up when I find them locally. There are several on my sales page for $15 each and I think I actually have a Tawny to add.
EDIT: I'm not sure if the one I have is Tawny or not - the pattern of her white seems a little different and she has blue eyes. Here's a pic:

I don't really know the difference between the blue eyes kitten and the brown eyes kitten. It's a little difficult to find information on these.

I love those, too. :) I don't actively collect; I just keep my childhood collection. I received about fourteen or so over the years! (if you include the pig, bunny, and puppies). My friends had them, too, and they were very popular among our set. The ones I have are the older ones made by Tyco (starting about 1993, 1994, I would guess). I guess DSI bought the rights to them or something when they reproduced them around 2000; I'm not sure. The older ones look pretty much the same, though there are some differences.
Sometimes I think it would be cool to make an informational site about these guys. But I don't have the time or motivation. :P And I don't know as much about the newer ones that you're talking about. My younger sister had one or two, and I remember giving my niece one as a gift.

I used to have about 10 of them when I was a kid. When I started collecting MLP online I looked for them again. I was sad to see how pricey they got!
I always think of those ridged balls that made them purr.. I jokingly think that that is how real cats purr too.. Just loose balls rolling around in their heads :p

Sometimes I wondered what exactly was inside them that made them purr. I thought it was really unique that they were weighted with water, made them feel much more realistic.
They're also awesome toys to play with, their paws were perfect and weighted as well. I loved posing mine and making them do all sorts of things. I think I either had more than one or eventually ruined my first and was really upset so my family bought me another because the calico one brings memories too.
I cannot wait to get mine in the mail. :happy:

Oh how I loveee these little things! I had a primarily all black one I named 'Socks' (because of his white feet :3) that I had when I was younger, and actually I still have him! I've managed to acquire quite the collection for myself since then, picking them up if I see them around. Although I must admit I'm not currently displaying them properly... they're all smooshed together. :[ Shame on me. xP Here's some pics though! As you can see I collect both the Kitty Kitty Kittens, and all of their friends. The dogs, bunnies, and farm friends.

I would be curious if the kitty with blue eyes that Breyer has is an alternative version of the original 'Tawny' the OP has, or if she is a DSI remake, like Haruna brought up earlier. I'm very curious! I haven't seen an original with blue eyes like that yet, quite neat!

I fetched out some of my kitties and took a picture of the tush tags, so you could see how they vary between the two companies.

It's a goal of mine to find my original Tawny, though! Even looking at that different tush tag triggered a level of nostalgia in me.

aw my sister had the jungle lion one and she was exactly the same way! she never went anywhere without that thing. Being the mean older sister that I was, I can remember burying it quite a few times, dunking it in whatever food she was eating or just generally being very rotten lol. I have some sympathy now but she was worse with my toys lol.
I was cleaning out one of our storage buildings and found it in there, and was surprised that a mouse didnt turn it into a nest, but she was excited when I gave it to her lol. Hers was called "Kitzer"

My sister would lose her mind if she saw that mint lion xD, Its funny seeing them all new and fuzzy when her was purly matted fur and ragged. (belly balloon popped probably a year after she got it xD)

Ahh! I think I remember these! I think I had one too. I hope you get one you like soon. :) I am definitely going to have my eyes open for these at thrift stores now!
