Hello everyone! It's finally time to start voting on this years Christmas Song Contest. I think it's been another excellent year and will be really hard picking a favourite. Thankfully it's not just up to me.
Here are this pics to chose from:
1. Nutcracker - by Ponyqueen
Backcard story:
Baby Sweetsteps was elated to be cast as "Young Clara" in this year's Baby Bonnet School of Dance production of the Nutcracker! She practiced for hours everyday and by opening night, her performance was flawless. With the spotlight on her while she twirled with the nutcracker doll, it truly was a magical evening.
More about the painting: Baby Sweetsteps and the doll are done completely in traditional watercolors; the stage and light were added in gimp.

Just made a quick post in corral to bring this to attention - there are too many lovely artworks that deserve to be seen!
-
all of them are so pretty
-
:freak: How can I pick one?!
BTW, feel free to advertise in the SB. :)
-
Oh my goodness, all of the entries are gorgeous! I voted for Carol of the Bells in the end though; the Art Nouveau aesthetic swung the decision. :)
-
ooooOOOOoooo I'm with Stomper; how to pick just one?!!
-
Wow!! I really like every single one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Super hard choice!
-
woah! great job everyone!
-
Genuinely love every entry. I love how cozy and happy they make me feel, but also the stories each one has to tell. Marlin's looks like something I'd want on my wall!
-
Wow they are all so gorgeous! I think I had to go Nutcracker because I just watched it last night :D
-
Wonderful entries everyone! This is always a lovely contest to watch, the the entries are always pretty and well thought.
-
What amazing entries! I had a really hard time picking a favourite. Let's see if I can leave a quick comment on each one. :)
Nutcracker
I really like the clever combination of traditional and digital media here! Digital was a great choice for the spotlight and I love the minimalistic background which draws the viewer's full attention to the character. The watercolour work is beautiful (as always!) and I love the dress.
Little Drummer Boy
This one makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. ^.^ The composition is great, my attention is instantly caught by the big star and the Little Drummer Pony under it, and then the eye naturally moves to the manger. The sheep is so cute and there's some beautiful texture on the night sky!
Joy to the World
If there's someone who knows how to bring joy it's Pinkie Pie! I love how concentrated she looks, and that starry sky is beautiful.
Let it Snow
What a warm, cosy atmosphere! It was a really clever idea to make us viewers outsiders, looking into the house through the window as if we're only stealing a glimpse of that intimate, happy moment. I think this drawing conveys the feel of the song perfectly! And the fire does look delightful. ;)
Carol of the Bells
I love the composition and the art nouveau inspiration with its flowing lines! I keep spotting new details as I look at it, and I like how the bell motif is repeated cleverly throughout the drawing. The pony is very cute too, of course! The colours of silver and gold are perfect for her.
It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas
This one is so cute! It's a wonderful illustration of the lyrics and again, the composition works very well: the division into two "worlds" or states of mind, the enjoyment and excitement of the Christmastime on the one hand, and the stress on the other. :P I love the fact that there are ponies from two different generations, choosing Twilight's family was a cute idea and the ponies' expressions are priceless! The parents' especially. Great attention to details too, I like the glowing lights and the slightly drooping Christmas tree! :D
Jingle Bells
Beautiful! This would make a lovely Christmas card. ^.^ I love the classic watercolour look and the feeling of movement captured in this entry. And those adorable jingle bells, of course!
We Three Kings
What a powerful drawing, I dig it! The element of mysticism fits the theme perfectly and the pony is beautifully done, I love those large wings and the glittery hair. Great job on the light, too!
Everyone has done such a marvellous job! Good luck! :art:

I have no idea how to choose when they all are such great representations of the songs! :freak: I think I will vote for The Nutcracker, because I just went to see it with Mr. Zenna yesterday and it brings me all sorts of warm, fuzzy feelings. :)
-
So much fun to finally see these! The best is seeing and recognizing the styles of the artists.
-
Very will done to Ponyqueen who wins this years comp with Nutcracker. Some pony goodies will be sent to you shortly. Keep and eye out at the same time this year for the next contest!

Congratulations!

Thanks, everyone! It was a fun piece to draft, and painting the fabric for the dress was a new challenge. It seems to have executed well, though, thanks for all the votes!
