Title: Please enable me. First BJD!
Post by: Jadis4742 on November 10, 2014, 05:45:22 PM
So I put my name in years ago and she finally wrote me...I can have my own teeny tiny dragon...

Cuarto Darkhorn, 44 articulated pieces, about 5 inches tall.

And I would get this dark metallic silver color.

The only problem is...$470.  :yikes: I've only bought two things that cost more than that, and they were purses. Much more practical than a doll.

But my own DRAGON!

I should do it, right? Because I hesitated on Daisy Dayes' Elise and now I am sadly centaur-less for the rest of my life. And obviously a dragon roaming my bookshelves would just be awesome.

But...ahhh money. Like, I can afford it if I sell some ponies and other stuff, but it would be tight for a little bit. Help!

(Oh, and if anyone has a Den of Angels invite code that would be great. If it's not against the rules of anything.)

EDIT: Oh, and she does wings now too but I passed on those. They bumped the price up to $590.

Oh wow those are stunning!!! If you think that you can afford to do it and not put yourself in a position where it will be a problem then go for it!!! It seems like it's a once in a lifetime opportunity really.

Very cool. Very expensive but...since you asked for encouragement. I would much rather spend 500 dollars on an awesome dragon than on a purse! Much more practical if you ask me. I feel like if it is something that you know you are going to regret if you don't get it than you should go ahead and get it. You only live once.

Out of curiosity...what kind of material is it made out of????

These dragons are stunning and seem to be pretty hard to come by. If you like it, take the plunge! If you end up not liking it as much in person it shouldn't be too tough to find a buyer.

Thanks everyone! I will write her back tonight and soon my dragon will be on its way!

...we all like the silver, right? I've always always loved gunmetal gray, so that's a good choice for a dragon, right? Here's a link to her gallery with the dragon and color options. (n/a)

Oh! And it's polyurethane resin. Is that a good bjd material? I know nothing.

If you can manage the price, then you should totally do it. I have drooled over those dragons like crazy. They're beyond amazing. And considering how many pieces there are, I think that price seems fine. I'd totally buy it lol.

If you love the gunmetal grey, get that. I think theytr all amazing and I am super duper jelly right now.

ETA: I can send you a DoA invite if you PM me your email. :)

GET IT! XD

I have one of Cuarto's dragons, and she (mine is a girl) is beyond amazing. The blue metallic resin is gorgeous in person and in pictures too. You really can't go wrong with it no matter which color you get, Cuarto's color palette is awesome. Only thing I would personally change are the strings, my girl is floppy like a noodle, but even with that they are definitely worth it.

Think of it as an art purchase if the cost seems too steep, that might help. :)

ETA: Polyurethane resin is the basic material for BJD's and the one Cuarto uses is very nice in my opinion. A bit different than the ones I'm used to, but nice still. :D

WooOOOOooooooww!! Gorgeous!! I'm with you on the costs; even though $500 isn't "alot" for resin BJDs, I still can't see myself buying a doll for that price for a long time. Long, long time. :P
But I will say that's why I love layaways and PayPals 'same as cash' programs. :momiji:

I've been drooling over these dragons forever! I had the money to get one, got put on the waiting list, but more than a year past and I had to use that $ for car repairs and such. So when my turn on the waiting list came up I had to pass :( :( :(

Do it! And take lots of pictures :D

Gah, this happened to me too! I suppose it's okay, as I still can't really justify the price...they're just so beautiful!
