I got a new Twilight Sparkle Fashion Style Prototype today (Article about these here: http://www.mlpmerch.com/2014/09/cutie-mark-magic-princess-celestia-and.html )
So I got Twilight:

And then I found out she has this weird thing between her wings:

First I thought this was part of the mold that they forgot to remove or something. But then I saw that Celestia has this thing as well on some images:

(Between her ear and wing)
What do you think it is?

Built in handle? lol

Probably a structural support to keep the wings from falling off under their own weight. I had a model of the Enterprise-A, and I could never keep the warp engines on it.
-
Probably something to hold the wings apart during production, but were never removed on these prototypes.

Agreed, looks like they were meant to be broken off before packaging.

My Hasbro 2013 Twilight had that too! I just bought mine off of Taobao because well it was cheaper and I dont like her box  Its supposed to be removed before the toy get packaged, part of the mold of the wings. It just twists off! I actually regret taking mine off my husband said it made her look "hot n' fresh from the the factory"

I'm with this theory also!

Yes its going to be part of the mould when the wings are made :) Should be snapped off or machine removed at production but clearly missed.
