Title: Does anyone else have the "stuff shelf?"
Post by: parryscereal on October 16, 2014, 05:44:00 PM: I have something I call the "stuff shelf"--basically a shelf of all the things you want to display, but are pretty random and don't relate to each other. However, I think this is one of the most fun shelves I have in my house! It was the first I set up when I moved :), especially since the curios that hold my other non-pony collections couldn't move with my family. I'd love to see if anyone else has something like this and that I'm not crazy for displaying Mike Wazowski with Rilakkuma. (PS: The little panda plushes and little ceramic container are part of a larger panda collection that hasn't found a place to live yet.)

I think that'll be my eventual fate--every shelf is the stuff shelf.

Let's see... my "stuff shelf" is actually my nightstand beside my bed. I have random things on there that wouldn't fit into any of my other collections, but I love how I have everything displayed on it!

Even when I was little, I just kept all of the "Kissing Dragons" and "Darlin' Dinos" and things with the ponies -- I just considered them to be "pony friends." And since I'm an avid bibliophile, all of my shelves are book shelves, with ponies and their friends in front of the books.

I'd like to see more pics of people's stuff shelves. It's fun seeing different franchises mingling in one spot. ^_^

the top shelf is ponies, my dvd player and my daughter's skylander portal, a scalloped edge cloth with peacocks keeps the dvd player from scratching the wood and of course there's books but when it comes to knickknacks, it has:
MLPs
a Tibetan Buddhist Monk statue
a black teacup and saucer that has Apollo flying his chariot on one side and Artemis and Apollo I think? On the other
two horse statues
a fairy riding a unicorn statue
a Journey to Atlantis snow globe from Sea World that has Poseidon rising from the waves on Pegasus inside and the ride's name on the base
Decepticons Ratbat and Skywarp
two classic Mega Man robot masters Elec Man and Shadow Man
a safari ltd. cow-nose ray toy I got from the L.A. Zoo

One of my nightstands has an unpainted Unicorn and Fairy statue
a Tweety bird statue that has MOM on it in big letters
a Memories book that my daughter made for me in school
a cardboard picture frame she made for me
a blendy pens pop out sea life thingy she colored for me
a cool Asian metal tea tin with cranes on the top and two women in kimonos on the side and a boy bringing food to a man on the front
a tea cup and saucer with flowers and hummingbirds

It's got... magazines, books, tapes, a xenomorph, two kitty in my pocket toys, one care bear, the tattoo fund box, a horse brass, an eyeball, plant food, hair stuff and laptop cleaner.

OMG, I love this description. Especially the fact that, thrown in among the normal things, there's "an eyeball." Awesome.

My other shelf is Zelfs and MLP :P Mywalls have random MIB toys hanging on them too! Well, then there is my TV stand which has Zoids, FMA, Transformers, Portal, Pokemon, and other video game figures on it.

Oh my gosh! SO much Warhammer! We're still trying to manage all our storage and displays for them- they live in the office on some bookshelves and in their padded cases for now. But I'd love to have a better set-up for them. No one likes unzipping their army to find their Treekin shedding branches!

-Roller Maze Ghoulia MIB
-Tops NHL hockey card (LA Kings captain)
-ticket stub from the San Jose Sharks vs the Pittsburgh Penguins game from February
-Photo frame I rescued from the trash
-Birthday card from my BFF
-Celtic knot candle holder (Goodwill rescue)
-Small fabric jewelry box with a black cat on the lid.
-MH stand for which ever of my doll's is free range (that's currently Blue)
-Glass heart paperweight
-My wallet (it's home when it's not with me. My cats are wallet thieves).

On the second shelf is a small notebook I use for lists and a MH trick or treat bucket. That acts as my MH catch all (stickers,pamphlets,shoes)

Third shelf is the bottom of the night stand is actually a decent sized space. However I'm not going to fill it up. Currently living there is my Outlander book(s) and a memory box.

Excellent choice for your only MH doll Sparkykandy.

Thanks you guys! Operetta is not the only Monster High character that I like, but she is my favorite. The Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorite books, so when I found out that they were making a Phantom doll, I just had to have her!

Oh, I am so happy that you said Phantom is one of your favorite books. I was part of the hipster crowd that semi-shunned the movie when it came out -- I still watched and own it, but I don't love it. The book is the best, and the play is good, too. I haven't yet seen the sequel play yet... not sure if I want to. Have you read Susan Kay's Phantom? It is the one amazing "fan fiction" -esque publication out there. It's a very good read if you can find a copy! I know I went off topic here, but PM me any time if you want to talk about Phantom obsessions!

I love the color of your walls

Regarding your wall color -- I'm currently in the process of trying to buy a house. The room that would be my pony room has red walls, and since red isn't my color I'm thinking I might paint over it with one layer in light blue and see if I can make it more purple-ish. I'll probably start a thread all about it if I manage to buy the house. It comes with shelves in the room that will be perfect for pony displays! But I love unusually colored walls -- I had an amazing green bedroom once. I envy anyone whose walls are a pretty color. :)

- The paper scenery set of the mane 6 defeating nightmare moon from hot topic
- A Lion King snowglobe
- A Hakuna Matata keepsake statue
- A small collection of six glass bottles
- Two custom ponies of my OC's Finn and Bekuno
- A russian nesting doll
- One of those drawing mannequins in a weird ballerina pose
- A geode
- some caution tape
- A set of paper dolls of John and Dave from John Dies at the End
- A My Little Pony MGR pony lunchbox
- A little tin shaped like the mario mushrooms
- A jar full of animal teeth
- A set of ears my dad cut off a deer he shot (weirdest thing in my room heh)

If I could find her, she actually got me into MH. When I realized there was a doll based off one of my favorite books/plays. That sparked my curiosity and I researched MH.

Those spoons! I got one when I had some gelato at a dog show earlier this month. The spoon confused me for a moment till I realized it was my spoon. :P Anyways I kept it because it was so quirky different. Glad to see I'm not alone.
